Forceful Proof That Ninth Royal Uncle Still Stands

2/14/2026

Serena Feng was truly pushing her luck. Commander Leon Li of the Imperial Guards was so furious he wanted to kill someone, but with Serena holding the Phoenix Empress Hairpin, no matter how much he hated it, he could only grit his teeth and endure.

Commander Leon Li took a deep breath, forced out a stiff smile, and pulled a silver banknote from his sleeve. Pinching his nose, he said, "Miss Serena, is one hundred taels enough?"

Those two doors were worth maybe twenty taels at best; the other eighty were just hush money to keep Serena calm.

"One hundred taels?" Serena arched her brow, her face full of disdain. Commander Leon Li, seeing her reaction, obediently pulled out another note: "Two hundred taels!"

Serena was absolutely livid. No one had tried to buy her off in ages—and with such a measly amount, too! Did they think she was some pauper?

Serena's anger turned to a chilling smile. "Commander, do you actually think I'm short on cash?"

Even if she needed money, Serena wouldn't blink at a hundred or two. If she was going to ask, it would be for at least a thousand taels of gold.

...Commander Leon Li quietly tucked the banknotes away, sensibly asking, "Miss Serena, what do you want me to do?"

What do you want me to do?

Did she really have to spell it out for him?

Serena raised her brows and walked outside. As she went, she said, "Since you’re asking, I’ll be blunt: you kicked down my door, so of course you have to fix it. You can leave when it’s repaired."

Serena beckoned to her maids. Jada Tang and Mira Tang immediately brought out a large wooden chair and placed it directly opposite the doorway.

"What? You want us to fix the door?" Commander Leon Li’s expression was as if he’d swallowed something foul. He finally understood: Serena was deliberately making things difficult, trying to humiliate them.

But they really were innocent—they were just following orders. How could they have known they’d run into Serena, the immovable iron wall?

Serena always said nothing good ever happened when she ran into him, but clearly it was the other way around: whenever he ran into Serena, disaster followed. Last time at Feng Manor was bad enough—the worst two weeks of his career. And this time...

It was even worse. He could already imagine the Emperor’s furious face.

Commander Leon Li shivered. He was now certain: disaster always struck when Serena was involved.

"You have good ears, Commander. Yes, I said fix the door." Serena adjusted her robes and sat down elegantly, tilting her body slightly to the right, her hand propping up her chin. She radiated queenly authority. Seeing the guards hesitate, she impatiently waved her left hand: "Commander, get to work."

She was obviously supervising right here. If they didn’t fix her door, they weren’t leaving.

Commander Leon Li realized that all his composure and patience had vanished. Suppressing his anger, he gritted his teeth and said, "Miss Serena, don’t go too far. We have to return to the palace and report. If we’re delayed, neither of us can afford the consequences."
