"I'm going to kill you!"
Gavin Guan screamed hoarsely, his eyes bloodshot.
Selina Shi sighed, lowered her head, and didn't look at the sudden indecent scene before her.
The scrawny kid next to Gavin Guan looked like he wanted to dig a hole and crawl in. He didn't have Gavin's cocky attitude; the moment he realized all his clothes had mysteriously blown apart, he bolted out the door like his butt was on fire.
Gavin Guan covered his crotch with both hands, stuck his butt out, and tried to dodge everyone's gaze—but no matter how he twisted, he was still exposed for all to see.
"Yo, Gavin! Cover yourself, man!"
Someone reacted quickly, took off their shirt, and tossed it to Gavin Guan to cover himself.
Gavin Guan tied the shirt around his waist, stood up, and looked around. Spotting a chair nearby, he grabbed it and charged at Evan Lin, ready to smash it down on his head.
But before he could move, Evan Lin casually picked up a dice cup from the table and threw it right at Gavin's face.
Everyone saw a gust of wind streak by—next thing they knew, the chair-wielding Gavin Guan was sent flying out the door by the tiny dice cup. With a bang, he landed on the ground, his fate uncertain.
"You actually laid hands on Gavin? You're toast, punk!"
The crowd around Gavin Guan ignored Evan Lin completely, scrambling to Gavin's side. Seeing him unconscious, panic spread among them.
The whole crew scattered like spooked rats, not daring to look back.
"You dared hurt Young Master Gavin! You're dead, kid!"
Even as they left, someone turned back and shot Evan Lin a vicious glare.
The whole group slunk away in embarrassment.
Inside the casino, some people wanted to approach Evan Lin to talk about gambling skills, but Selina Shi had already set down her teacup and was pulling Evan straight out the door.
"You were pretty cool today. Gavin Guan probably won't dare set foot on Jingwei Peak ever again. How do you feel?"
Outside, standing on the cliff, the sunset was blood-red on the horizon.
Standing by the door, they could still hear the roar of luxury car engines speeding down the mountain road.
Selina Shi stood beside Evan Lin and asked him calmly.
"What feeling could there be from swatting a fly?" Evan Lin shook his head.
Selina was silent for a moment, then spoke: "Gavin Guan is one of the Eight Young Lords of Oceanport. His family was already famous before the Qing Dynasty, and even through the country's upheavals, they never fell. His background is way deeper than you think."
"Today, he's only here in Oceanport with a bunch of useless rich kids, thinking he could rely on Leo Liu's influence to run wild in Capitalview. Normally, the people around him would be way more formidable than this."
"And don't be fooled—those rich kids couldn't fight back today, but if you were in Oceanport, with their full backing on display, you'd be in real trouble. Aren't you worried?"
Selina Shi yawned, her tone relaxed, as if nothing could shake her.
"What's there to worry about? However many come, I'll crush them all. People like that mean nothing to me—they're not even a threat." Evan looked down at the mountain road, where luxury cars streamed away in a long line.
"You're really blunt," Selina sighed, a bit helpless. "From now on, unless you have to, you'd better not go to Oceanport."
"You're in Capitalview now. If they come for you, just call me."
Selina sounded resolute—even with all the trouble Evan Lin had stirred up, she was ready to take responsibility for it all.
No matter what, in her eyes, Evan Lin only got mixed up with Gavin Guan today because of her.
Evan hadn't replied yet; his eyes, hidden behind sunglasses, were calm and deep.
A rare silence fell between them. The moment was unusually quiet; Selina stretched lazily, looking relaxed and content.
Bang!
Next door to the casino, a wooden door was shoved open from inside.
A woman in an elegant qipao strode out, her face tinged with anger.
"Yiran! Where are you going? You're being too much!"
Behind her, a tall, handsome man quickly followed and grabbed Irene Xu's wrist.
"I'm going home! Let go of me!" Irene Xu snapped, trying to pull her hand free from the man's grip.
But the man was strong—no matter how hard Irene tried, she couldn't break free.
"Why go home now? It's still early! Besides, President Fu wants you to keep him company tonight—he's giving you a chance! Irene Xu, do you know how many women in Capitalview would kill to get close to President Fu? I'm only thinking of you because we're classmates! Don't be so ungrateful!" Wen Ruyan scolded, face full of anger.
"And you just slapped President Fu! You think you can hit someone and walk away? No way—you're not leaving tonight!"
Wen Ruyan's voice was fierce. Irene Xu's eyes were red with rage; she kicked at Wen, but her strength was no match. "Wen Ruyan! Are you even human? Go to hell! Get lost!"
Earlier at the dinner table, Fu Ming tried to get Irene Xu to drink with him and took the chance to grope her, but Irene slapped him hard across the face.
Then Irene stormed away from the table and ran out.
Now Wen Ruyan had chased after her, trying to drag her back.
"Irene Xu, this is all for your own good! If you make President Fu happy, he can buy you anything! That's way better than the peanuts you earn as a flight attendant! Stop pretending to be pure!" Wen Ruyan raged, cursing. "And if you please President Fu tonight, I'll finally get my job! But now you've hit him and want to run? You're ruining me!"
Wen Ruyan yanked Irene Xu, trying to drag her back.
He was strong, and Irene was struggling, but she clung tightly to a wooden pillar by the door.
Wen Ruyan's patience ran out. He cursed, raised his other hand, and balled his fist, aiming a punch at Irene's hand gripping the pillar.
Just as the punch was about to land, Wen Ruyan's vision suddenly went black—and the next moment, he felt like he was flying.
