One Against Many

"You're Evan Yang?" someone asked.

"Oh? You know me?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"Of course. Didn't expect to find you here. Just in time—we were debating who should take you down. Now it's settled: I'll capture you, and that sixth-tier immortal artifact will be mine," the man laughed.

"Sixth-tier immortal artifact?" Evan Yang heard the words vaguely, having no idea what these two were up to.

But the group just smiled at Evan Yang, and the man continued, "I'm from the Qing Family—Sam Qing. You must know the Qing Family, right? It's simple this time: I'm taking you in to exchange for a sixth-tier immortal artifact at the Qing Family."

Hearing it was the Qing Family, Evan Yang grew curious. Why were the Qing Family so persistent, following him all the way here? He smiled, "The Qing Family? Trading me for an immortal artifact? Didn't think I was worth that much."

"I'm curious too—why are you worth so much? What do you think?" Sam Qing mocked.

Hannah Nangong wanted to teach him a lesson, but Evan Yang sent her a sound transmission: "It's fine. They're just a few juniors, only Heavenly-Immortal level."

Hearing Evan Yang's words, Hannah Nangong agreed—it made sense. The others couldn't possibly threaten Evan.

Then Evan Yang smiled at Sam Qing, "You really want to capture me?"

"Isn't that obvious? You're just a first-tier Heavenly-Immortal. Don't say I'm bullying you with my eighth-tier—go ahead, make the first move," Sam Qing laughed.

Evan Yang smiled, "Didn't your Qing Family warn you?"

"Warn us about what?" Sam Qing asked, confused.

"Warn you that your strength isn't nearly enough to threaten me." Suddenly Evan Yang's aura surged; the nearby group was blasted away with a thunderous force.

Those with strength above fifth-tier were unexpectedly sent flying without warning—a humiliating scene. The onlookers watched Evan Yang in amazement: for a mere first-tier Heavenly-Immortal to repel these people was extremely rare.

Sam Qing and his group thought they'd been careless. They got up and approached again, unleashing their aura to pressure Evan Yang. Sam cursed, "Kid, you're arrogant—how dare you sneak attack me!"

Sam Qing pressed his aura forward, with everyone watching to see how a first-tier Heavenly-Immortal would fare against an eighth-tier. The result was predictable: the crowd was stunned as, with another thunderous blast, they were sent flying again—this time even worse, barely able to stand afterward.

"You... you..." Sam Qing found it unbelievable, but there was no choice. He gritted his teeth and called out to the other Qing Family members, "This little freak—everyone, attack together!"

Evan Yang's antics drew a large crowd. People were curious about this mysterious newcomer with such freakish methods: a first-tier Heavenly-Immortal challenging an eighth-tier, not only undefeated but blasting the opponents away. Such a reversal was only possible with a massive power gap.

Five Qing Family members of equal strength stepped forward to confront Evan Yang together. Evan released his aura, and the five did the same. Everyone watched as Evan faced five opponents alone, sparks flying between them.

The onlookers could hardly believe it—Evan Yang was holding his own against five opponents, all higher-tier than him. It was beyond their imagination, and the inn was filling up as more people gathered to watch the battle.

Some passing experts grew curious and stepped in to take a look. Seeing the scene inside, they couldn't help but wonder who Evan Yang really was.

Evan Yang hadn't expected today's events to boost his reputation so much—even the Ethereal Sanctuary and North Sect were becoming famous along with him.

"You're still not backing off? Then don't blame me for being rough." Evan Yang smiled.

"Arrogant! Everyone, push harder—he can't hold out much longer!" Sam Qing encouraged. He refused to believe Evan Yang had any more tricks, and the crowd agreed: one person fighting five across tiers was already impressive.

To everyone, Evan Yang's boasting had reached its limit—this was surely the end. If he could defeat them now, it would be a miracle. But the miracle happened: as the five prepared to go all out, Evan Yang flicked his hand, unleashing power that blasted them away.

This time was even worse—many crashed into solid surfaces nearby, bleeding on the spot before struggling to their feet.

"Use attributes!" Sam Qing was utterly humiliated. If things kept going like this, it would be unbearable. The others felt the same, all furious.

The spectators watching the drama all cast curious glances at Evan Yang.

"Use attributes? Are you really so eager to wreck this place?" Evan Yang laughed.

"Wreck the place? No need for that, hmph." Sam Qing pulled out a scroll and tossed it forward. Instantly, the space within five meters was completely isolated.

"Huh? There's something like that?" Evan Yang was surprised to see a formation barrier appear so quickly.

"It's just a basic defensive formation, built into a scroll. It can withstand attacks up to Profound-Immortal level, but it's useless against Immortal Lords," Hannah Nangong explained.

"I see," Evan Yang nodded. Sam Qing snorted, "Kid, if you've got guts, don't step outside this range."

"Fine, I'll play along. How do you want to do this—one at a time, or all at once?" Evan Yang laughed.

"All at once, obviously. We're a team," Sam Qing replied shamelessly. The crowd looked down on him, but no one underestimated Evan Yang anymore. They wondered what attributes Evan would use, and whether they'd be as freakish as his aura.

The group flashed their attributes: water, fire, and earth—the most common elements, each claimed by one of them.

Water, fire, and earth attacked from three directions. Evan Yang told Hannah Nangong, "You should step outside—I'll handle this myself." "But..." Hannah was worried.

"No buts. These are nothing to us." Evan Yang finished speaking and used his aura to instantly extinguish the incoming fire.

Seeing she might hinder Evan, Hannah Nangong left. Evan was left alone, facing their crazy attacks. Strangely, every fire attack was blasted away, water was evaporated into steam by Evan's flames, and earth attacks were shattered by his punches.

Everyone was stunned. No matter how hard the group tried, they couldn't overwhelm Evan Yang; their elemental attacks grew weaker and weaker. Finally, Evan Yang smiled, "Are you trying to drain my Immortal Essence?"

"You're pretty smart," Sam Qing snorted. That was exactly his plan. No matter how strong Evan Yang was, he was still relying on bursts of power. In a battle of endurance, how could one person withstand the frenzy of several?

Evan Yang was a little concerned, but he had a trump card—plus the Wordless Heavenly Tome. Once he activated it, his Immortal Essence recovery speed multiplied several times over.

So Evan Yang had no fear of losing. The onlookers were shocked—just what kind of power did Evan possess to be this strong?

Seeing the group still struggling, Evan Yang grinned, "Let me show you what roasted meat smells like."

With a wave of his hand, flames erupted, instantly engulfing the group. Screams echoed from within the fire—so loud that even those on the second floor heard it clearly.

Those talking upstairs had thought it was just a minor scuffle below, but when they heard the screams, they realized something was wrong and hurried downstairs.

Seeing the group engulfed in flames, a Profound-Immortal from the Qing Family rushed out and launched a sneak attack at Evan Yang's back. At that moment, Hannah Nangong flashed behind Evan and met the strike with her palm, sending the attacker flying. His arm throbbed with pain as he glared at Evan and Hannah. "Release them!" he demanded.

"Release them? They're the ones who provoked me—why should I let them go?" Evan Yang knew these people were from the Qing Family. Since they put such a high price on capturing him, he couldn't let himself be seen as an easy target. He had to teach them a lesson so others would think twice before coming after him.

"Damn it, if you don't let go, we won't be polite!" the man threatened.
