Shadow’s sudden appearance naturally drew everyone’s attention. After all, it was this little beast that had tamed the ferocious flying monster, the Golden Demon Roc. But no one could figure out why Evan Chu had such a pet.
Shadow glanced at Evan Chu and sent a mental message: "Master, you should’ve let me out ages ago. I’m starving!"
"No worries. See all these monster beast corpses? In a moment, you can eat your fill—however much you want. Just don’t overdo it and make yourself sick." Evan Chu was in a great mood; if Luna, the Sword Spirit, said Shadow might break through, there had to be a reason.
"Thank you, Master! Then I won’t hold back!" Shadow said, then trotted over to a Wolf-Headed Tiger’s corpse.
It sniffed the corpse, then turned to Evan Chu. “This monster beast isn’t bad. If I eat a few dozen of these, I might become a first-rank Spirit Beast.” Of course, only Evan Chu could hear this voice.
A first-rank Spirit Beast might be weak, but for Evan Chu, it was still exciting. He’d never seen a monster beast that could break through just by eating once—and this one was his own little brother.
Shadow immediately began to feast. A faint glow radiated from its body, and then—just like that—a Wolf-Headed Tiger ten times its size vanished in an instant, as if tucked away in a storage ring. It was downright magical.
Everyone stared in shock—including Evan Chu himself. This was really eating monster beasts without leaving a single bone behind. Absolutely wild.
In no time, dozens of monster beast corpses were cleaned up by this puppy-sized Shadow. Except for the bloodstains on the ground, you’d never believe so many beasts had ever been here.
Just then, Shadow scampered back to Evan Chu’s side and sent a mental message: “Master, next time there’s something this tasty, call me out early! Today was a feast—I need to digest all this energy, so don’t bother me unless it’s urgent.”
Then, with a flash of light, Shadow vanished from sight. Evan Chu knew the little guy had returned to his arm—who knew how much it would grow by the next time it appeared?
“Everyone did great this time—I’m satisfied. Now, let’s split up the Magic Crystals we earned. Gus Bullard, Sterling Yates, you two handle the distribution. Divide them strictly by the number of beasts killed; it has to be fair and impartial,” Evan Chu said.
Based on everyone’s kills, Evan Chu handed the Magic Crystals to Gus Bullard and Sterling Yates to divide up. He kept only three crystals for himself.
Given how many beasts Evan Chu had slain, he could’ve taken far more crystals. But he insisted on just these, claiming that everyone risked their lives for them—being the boss didn’t mean he should get extra.
In the end, Gus Bullard, Sterling Yates, and the others each got four Magic Crystals. Even the ones with the lowest kill count received two. This had never happened before, and everyone was thrilled—they were proud to be Evan Chu’s followers.
Just as everyone was celebrating their Magic Crystal haul, a series of beastly roars echoed from the distance—the same direction Gus Bullard had come from earlier.
“Boss, do you think someone’s about to enter the mountain cave? Should we go check it out? If it’s Sea Dragon Academy grabbing the treasure, that’d be a real pain,” Gus Bullard said anxiously.
Most of the group agreed with Gus Bullard—they all thought it was worth checking out. If there really was treasure, that’d be exciting. With so many people, there had to be more than one good thing; maybe they could snag a share.
Evan Chu glanced at Rhea Yang and Lily Tang. These two girls were much sharper than most guys, and their analysis was always more thorough. If they rushed in recklessly and the enemies were Sea Dragon Academy, they could strike. But what if they ran into Heavenly Dragon Academy people? They couldn’t just fight their own.
Besides, what if this cave was like the one guarded by the Golden Demon Roc—full of deadly traps? Even if there was treasure inside, Evan Chu couldn’t let his brothers risk their lives for it.
Evan Chu hesitated for a moment. Rhea Yang spoke up: “We should definitely check it out. If it’s Sea Dragon Academy, we can hit them with a big ambush—maybe we’ll even run into their honors-class students and solve some problems.”
“Heh, didn’t think you had a violent streak too,” Evan Chu joked.
“Want to try it? I’ve still got some Fragrant Tendon-Softening Powder left!” Rhea Yang grinned mischievously.
“Forget it, I’d rather not waste another antidote on myself. Alright, let’s go have a look—but everyone, be careful. If we run into Sea Dragon Academy, fight with everything you’ve got. If it’s our own academy, play it by ear—help out if there’s a chance, you never know what good might come of it,” Evan Chu said with a smile.
With Evan Chu’s approval, everyone’s spirits soared—they quickly headed out in the same direction.
Soon, the whole group arrived at the scene, finding cover in a concealed spot. What they saw stunned them: dozens of academy students were fighting giant monster beasts, and some students were even battling each other.
Others might not know, but Evan Chu recognized them immediately—Ryan Ouyang’s group. He’d warned Ryan to watch out for Sea Dragon Academy, so why were they here? Had Ryan ignored his advice?
Just as Evan Chu wondered about this, a furious roar came from across the field: “Heavenly Dragon Academy isn’t so tough—can’t even handle three of my moves, yet you dare brag here? Today, you’ll all die!”
“Everyone, charge! Those few aren’t a match for the enemy—looks like they’ve got honors-class students. Let’s help!” Evan Chu shouted, dashing into the fray so fast he left a blur behind.
The sudden arrival of Evan Chu and his group caught Sea Dragon Academy’s students off guard. None of them expected so many people to show up—especially their archrivals from Heavenly Dragon Academy.
With the Frostbane Sword slicing through the chaos, Evan Chu cut down two opponents in just a few breaths. The sudden ferocity of this newcomer sent the enemy into a panic—they started to retreat in fear.
Only then did Evan Chu notice someone lying on the ground—someone very important to him. It was Ryan Ouyang.
Evan Chu checked Ryan’s breathing—he was still alive, but clearly gravely injured and unconscious. “Damn it! If Ryan Ouyang dies, I’ll make every last one of you pay tenfold!” Evan roared.
Ryan Ouyang possessed the White Tiger bloodline. If he was killed, Evan would lose a key ally—something that could jeopardize his future plans.
Suddenly remembering something, Evan hurriedly took out a pill radiating potent spiritual energy from his storage ring—the one Dean Xu had given him, so precious he’d never wanted to use it.
“Gus Bullard, give Ryan this pill—I want them to learn what happens when they mess with my brothers!” Evan tossed the pill to Gus, then flashed away, unleashing the eighth form of the Windchaser Sword Codex: Wind Over the World…
