Two Sides in Dispute

2/14/2026

Inside the Core Formation Pavilion, there were countless records. It was impossible for Evan Yang to find the ancient teleportation array to Blaze Mountain in a short time, so he could only start from the lowest level and slowly work his way up.

Even if he could read five small levels a day, there were at least a hundred levels here. At a rough estimate, it would take a month, so Evan ended up staying inside for quite a long time.

Outside, Hannah Nangong couldn't follow Elder Deng every day, so after chatting with him for a while, she wandered around the sect on her own. Occasionally, she would come to the Core Formation Pavilion to see if Evan had come out.

But after several days, there was still no sign of Evan. One day, she ran into Ian Lian, who was frustrated at not finding Evan. Seeing Hannah, he smiled and said, "Miss Nangong, why are you alone? Where's that guy?"

Hannah Nangong knew exactly who Ian Lian was referring to, so she smiled, "He has something to do." "Something to do? He just left you behind? I think you should wake up—marrying someone like that won't end well. You'd be better off picking a new partner for dual cultivation." Ian Lian laughed.

Hannah Nangong frowned and said, "Brother Lian, considering we used to be friends, I don't want to argue with you. But if you keep saying things like this, don't blame me for what happens!"

Seeing Hannah Nangong angry, Ian Lian was stunned for a moment, then sneered, "Miss Nangong, I'm only letting you in because we used to be friends. Otherwise, you'd have to take the challenge too!"

"Thanks, but that's none of your concern. We're here because Elder Deng brought us in," Hannah Nangong retorted.

"Annoying! Who do you think you are? Even your father doesn't like your husband. I heard he's about to die soon," Ian Lian laughed.

Hannah Nangong understood what Ian Lian meant, but she didn't expect the news to spread here so quickly.

"What, can't answer now? As soon as the poison kicks in and he dies, the Palace Lord will probably come looking for you. But hey, I'm from the Sanctuary too—maybe I'll get lucky and pick up a secondhand wife." Ian Lian grew more and more arrogant as he spoke.

Hannah Nangong snorted coldly, "Arrogant!"

"Want to fight? Sure, we haven't sparred in ages. You all step back, let me have a bout with this beauty." Ian Lian laughed.

Unable to bear Ian Lian's insults, Hannah Nangong and Ian Lian started fighting right there. Several fellow disciples guarded the formation, protecting the surroundings from stray attacks.

Hannah Nangong snorted, "Even if we were friends before, what you said today is just too hurtful!"

"If you want to fight, then fight—why so many words? But honestly, I don't want to hurt you." Ian Lian clicked his tongue.

Hannah Nangong grew even angrier. Ian Lian knew she didn't understand formations, so his movements were very deliberate, and he even placed something at a certain spot. After tangling with Hannah for a while, Ian shouted, "Activate!"

"Activate?" Hannah Nangong didn't know what was happening, then saw a glow surround her, trapping her inside.

Ian Lian laughed loudly, "Ha! How about that? Trapped, aren't you? You thought you were so tough."

"Ian Lian, you bastard, let me out!" Hannah Nangong shouted.

"Let you out? Dream on. But if you're willing to spend a day with me, maybe I'll consider it." Ian Lian laughed, and the others around him burst out laughing as if egging him on.

"You wish!" Hannah Nangong said angrily.

"Fine, let's see how long you can last. Or maybe your husband will come to rescue you. If he does, I'd like to see if he can break my array." Ian Lian clicked his tongue.

So everyone stayed to watch, completely treating Hannah Nangong like a decoration. After a few days, Ian Lian felt it wasn't enough, so he added an attack formation outside. Now Hannah had to face attacks as well.

This made Hannah Nangong furious. "Ian Lian, you bastard! I won't let you get away with this!"

"Yeah, right. Wait until you get out. Fellow disciples, see if you have any tricks to really mess with this shameless woman." At this moment, all Ian Lian's hatred for Evan Yang was redirected at Hannah Nangong.

Hannah Nangong was furious. "Ian Lian, once I'm out, I will never let you off!"

"That depends on whether you can get out, shameless woman. Or maybe you'll wait for your husband to save you? I bet he's hiding somewhere, too scared to come out." Ian Lian got more and more outrageous, and he was curious why he hadn't seen Evan Yang for days.

Hannah Nangong knew Evan Yang was busy researching something and wouldn't know her situation. All she wanted now was to break through this damned defense. She even said to Ian, "Ian Lian, I don't care if you're from Xianming Sect—once I'm out, the first thing I'll do is kill you."

"Oh, I'm so scared, shameless woman. I never understood why you were so pure before, never wanted any guy, and now you chose someone like that—what a joke." Ian Lian mocked.

Hannah Nangong's attacks, no matter how many times, were useless.

The people around kept mocking her just like Ian Lian, which made Hannah even angrier.

Until one day, Ian Lian mocked again, "You shameless woman, I wonder if your lover is a coward, hiding somewhere right now."

"Who says I'm hiding?" Right then, Evan Yang's voice rang out. Ian Lian was shocked, while Hannah Nangong was overjoyed. They saw a figure descend from the sky—it was Evan Yang.

Evan Yang looked very grim. He had just left the Core Formation Pavilion and hadn't walked far before seeing what was happening here.

Hannah Nangong said excitedly, "Quick, let me out!"

Evan Yang waved his hand and easily broke Ian Lian's array. Ian was shocked—his formation was supposed to trap even Xuan-Immortals.

Once Hannah Nangong was out, she said excitedly, "I'm going to kill him!"

"Let me do it." Evan Yang finally couldn't hold back. He reached out, and flames instantly surrounded Ian Lian.

"Aaaah!" Ian Lian screamed miserably.

Just then, Elder Xie Dong appeared. With a flash, he blocked Evan Yang's flames. "What are you doing?"

"Elder Xie, you finally showed up?" Evan Yang sneered.

"What are you doing? Why did you hurt my disciple?" Elder Xie Dong took this chance to seek revenge against Evan Yang.

When Evan Yang heard that Ian Lian was Elder Xie Dong's disciple, he understood and mocked, "So Elder Xie was hiding in the shadows, watching his disciple bully others, and now dares to ask me so righteously—does being an elder mean you can let your disciples hurt people at will?"

As soon as Evan Yang said this, everyone around was stunned. In their eyes, Evan must be courting death—this was the most ruthless elder, and nobody dared offend him. Yet Evan spoke this way, clearly giving Elder Xie no respect.

As expected, Elder Xie was furious. "Say that again!"

"I said elders can let their disciples do whatever they want!" Evan Yang snorted.

Ian Lian was covered in burns. Seeing Evan Yang talk to his master like this, and still bearing deep hatred for Evan, he seized the chance for his master to teach Evan a lesson. So he said, "Master, it's him—Evan Yang."

"I know that." Elder Xie Dong, still furious, then turned to Evan Yang and snorted, "Don't think that just because you're a core disciple you can say whatever you want. Kid, I'm not the one you should be lecturing. Watch how I deal with you today!"

"Core disciple?" Everyone was shocked. The core disciple assessment was notoriously difficult—when did Evan Yang achieve it?

"Want to fight?" Evan Yang asked, surprised and wary, especially since the opponent's cultivation was at least Immortal Lord. Evan wasn't confident he could win.

Just then, Elder Deng's voice sounded. Someone had reported to him that Evan Yang encountered Elder Xie Dong after coming out, so he hurried over and said, "Hold your hand!"

When Elder Deng arrived, Elder Xie Dong snorted, "Elder Deng, what do you mean by this?"

"Elder Xie, why are you attacking him?" Elder Deng asked.

Elder Xie Dong rambled on, basically saying Evan Yang was teaching his disciple a lesson, so he had to teach Evan Yang a lesson.

But Evan Yang sneered, "To think I called you Elder, but you're so unreasonable. From now on, I won't call you Elder anymore."

"Whatever. Today, watch how I teach you a lesson." Elder Xie Dong said angrily. Elder Deng still blocked him, "Stop!"

"Don't stop me," Elder Xie Dong said angrily.

"If you really want to fight, Elder Xie, I'll join in too," Elder Deng said suddenly.

Elder Xie Dong was furious. "Elder Deng, what do you mean? Are you trying to oppose me?"

"That depends on who opposes whom!" Elder Deng was angry now too.

Evan Yang hadn't expected Elder Deng would stand up for him and argue with the other elder.

Just then, a voice rang out from behind the crowd: "What are you all doing?"

"Grand Elder," everyone said. When Elder Deng and Elder Xie Dong saw the Grand Elder arrive, they both dropped their aggressive stances.

"What are you two doing?" The Grand Elder seemed a bit angry.

"He wants to attack Evan Yang," Elder Deng said.

Elder Xie Dong said, "He attacked my disciple first!"

"It was your disciple who attacked my wife first!" Evan Yang said, displeased.

Listening to the three, the Grand Elder got the gist of it, but didn't explode on the spot. Instead, he said to Elder Xie Dong, Elder Deng, Evan Yang, and Hannah Nangong, "The four of you, come with me."

After saying this, the Grand Elder took them to a room and said, "You two are both elders—why are you causing trouble? Are you trying to embarrass our sect?"

Elder Xie Dong knew the Grand Elder's strength, so he held back and stayed silent. Elder Deng was naturally obedient, so he said nothing either.

Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong stood there, waiting for the Grand Elder to speak.

After finishing with the two elders, the Grand Elder said to them, "You may leave now."

The two elders left, leaving Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong behind.

The Grand Elder then spoke apologetically, "I'm truly sorry for the trouble."

"Grand Elder, um..." Evan Yang was a bit unsure how to respond.

"Sigh, they're all elders of the sect, each with their own temperament. Don't take it to heart," the Grand Elder sighed.
