Chapter 578: Surprisingly Unharmed

After listening to the Dragonblood Orc, Reina the Frost Dragon's expression grew increasingly grim. Her voice was so bitter it was frightening: "So what do we do now?"

"Do what?" The Dragonblood Orc looked genuinely puzzled.

"How do we save him!" Reina glared at the Dragonblood Orc, visibly annoyed. She really couldn't understand how this slow-witted orc had ever become a Level Nine Grand Swordmaster...

By now, it was painfully obvious...

The young mage had encountered an unprecedented crisis—he had been dragged to the bottom of the lake by a Hydra with mid-tier Level Thirty-Eight power. Most likely, he was completely frozen down there. And that was no joke; even a Sword Saint of the same rank, with a body tough as steel, wouldn't survive long in that kind of terrifying cold.

Let alone a mage.

It was almost hopeless...

Even if, against all odds, the young mage survived, he'd still have to face the threat of the Hydra. Normally, with so many people present, they could hold off the Hydra and give the young mage a chance to escape. But in reality, both the mage and the Hydra were now trapped hundreds of meters beneath the glacier, and there was simply no way to break through in time...

At this point, perhaps only a Sky Rank powerhouse using extraordinary means could save the young mage.

"Oh, so that's what you meant? No need to worry—Archmage Leon Merlin will be fine..." As one of Lin Yun's earliest companions, Hubert never believed that someone as powerful as Leon could be in real danger.

It was a kind of blind faith...

Back in the Turin Mountains, the dangers they faced were far greater—undead creatures formed from the remains of Sky Rank Mage Barris, and Barris's soul itself appeared one after another. Yet even then, they all walked out of the Turin Mountains alive...

Of everyone present, perhaps only Hubert could remain calm.

But Reina knew nothing about any of this...

"Do you even realize how dangerous his situation is right now? How could he possibly be fine!" Reina was visibly panicked, and after speaking, she anxiously gazed downward, ignoring the Dragonblood Orc.

She was genuinely starting to panic...

After all, the young mage was her only hope. If he died here, how could she ever revive her father?

In her eyes, the young mage truly had unlimited potential. The promise he made back then, though it seemed impossibly distant, filled her with confidence—she believed he would reach Sky Rank one day...

If everything went well, she'd only need to wait a few centuries for him to fulfill his promise and resurrect her father...

But this young mage was born to attract trouble. Like just now—he charged straight at the Hydra.

It was practically a death wish...

At this moment, aside from Reina and Hubert, most people present had also noticed that someone in their group was missing.

Throughout the battle, Felton and Cyrus Watson had remained aloof, floating hundreds of meters above the ground, their expressions indifferent. To them, the young mage who fell into the lake with the Hydra was just a moderately talented youth—his death was no big deal...

Just a minor character, a little tougher than cannon fodder—not worth the attention of two major powerhouses...

"Finally, that damn Matthew Merlin is getting what he deserves..." Floating above the lake, Councilor Suville's aged face twisted into a broad grin as he let out a cold laugh.

But Councilor Weiss, standing beside him, couldn't muster a smile—his face was etched with worry.

He couldn't help it—things weren't nearly as simple as they seemed. Knowing the inside story, he was well aware that if the young mage died here, it would have massive repercussions for the Black Tower.

Behind that young mage stood a Sky Rank powerhouse!

If the Black Tower hadn't joined this expedition, then the young mage dying here wouldn't matter—it'd have nothing to do with them. But the reality was, the Black Tower was involved...
