Chapter 308: You Will Regret It

But as soon as Leon turned around, the little girl lifted her skirt and ran off...

"Hm?" Leon watched the little girl's retreating figure, a thoughtful expression appearing on his face...

"What's wrong?" William Merlin, who was walking ahead, saw Leon stop. He was briefly startled, then followed Leon's gaze. "Oh, that's Lana, the child my sister adopted. After my sister had an accident in the Blazeforge Realm, no one looked after her anymore. The family gives her some money each month, so she lives here alone. Over time, she's become rather withdrawn..."

"I see..." Leon nodded, not saying much more.

The three of them went upstairs to the second floor, where there happened to be three rooms. Everything was spotless—the tables and chairs were immaculate, and the beds didn't have a single wrinkle. It was astonishing, really. Such a big house, yet the little girl cleaned it all by herself. How did she manage to keep it so pristine...?

Of course, none of this really mattered to Leon and his companions.

Most mages spent the majority of their time meditating instead of sleeping. Especially those like Leon and William Merlin, who had already reached the Magus rank—even after days and nights without rest, they wouldn't feel especially tired. A brief meditation would restore their magic in full.

So most mages weren't picky about where they rested—forest, swamp, desert, as long as it was safe, they could meditate there.

But tonight, after Leon entered the room, he didn't start meditating right away. Instead, he pulled something out of his pocket—a nearly completed Arcane Wheel, which he'd been working on since his time in Seaview City.
