Birth of a Top Superstar 3

Lily Bai missed Evan Lan.

Even though he was always right there by her side.

But what she really wanted was Evan Lan in his human form.

She wanted to talk with him, eat with him, sleep beside him.

Whenever she missed him too much, her heart felt all twisted up, and she almost wanted to cry.

But now, she had a way to ease the ache.

She watched those Jade Permits.

The person in the Jade Permit wasn’t really Evan, but he looked so much like him that watching brought her a bit of comfort.

That night, Lily Bai watched the seventh and eighth Jade Permits again.

In the seventh Jade Permit, Evan Lan appeared in ancient costume, dressed in exquisite red robes, and—rarely—confided many things to the First Spirit Tree.

“I just got back from the Radiant Palace,” he said. “Simon Yuan has a grandson now—a super cute little qilin named Ethan Sang. The dowager consorts all say little Ethan looks exactly like Simon did as a kid! He’ll definitely grow up to be a heartthrob, and Simon absolutely adores him.”

Simon Yuan has two legitimate sons, Sang Li and Sang Yang. Both are High Gods, fiercely fighting over the heir’s spot. Simon used to be totally impartial, just watching them battle it out, but now with little Ethan around, he’s clearly leaning toward Sang Yang.

Honestly, sometimes I kind of pity Simon Yuan. He’s so emotionally distant, he barely even cares about his own sons. He’s the type who’s only happy hiding away with the woman he loves.

But the woman he loves doesn’t love him back. You only love me, right?” Evan Lan in ancient costume smiled at the First Spirit Tree.

So yeah, I do feel sorry for him. He comes here every day for comfort, and since he helps protect you, I just let him be…

But I really don’t like him hanging around you all the time. Now that he’s got little Ethan, maybe he’ll stay at the Radiant Palace and spend more time with his grandson…

...

After watching that part, Lily Bai suddenly found herself oddly curious about Simon Yuan.

If only he’d show up on screen, so she could see what he actually looked like…

Little Smudge saw her face and asked, “Did you see that handsome guy you wanted to hug again?”

“Nope.” Lily Bai answered.

Little Smudge blinked: “Then what did you see?”

“It was still Evan Lan,” Lily Bai said. “He just kept talking about someone named Simon Yuan.”

“What did he say about him?”

“He said Simon Yuan has a grandson now, named Ethan Sang—the ‘yu’ as in feather.”

“Anything else?”

“Nope, that’s all.”

“Then let’s watch the next one.”

Lily Bai nodded and started the eighth Jade Permit.

In this one, Lily Bai finally saw Ray—the little handsome guy—again.

He showed up in front of the spiritual lens, grinning with a mouse as big as a cat in his arms: “Mother, do you remember this guy? It’s the demonized mouse! Back then it did some major heroic deeds! The little rascal hates staying in Drake Abyss and always tries to sneak down to the lower world! But I’ve got its Magical Soul, so there’s nowhere it can run!”

“Mother, can I tell you a secret? Leo Quinn… I always feel like the way he looks at Grandma is off! It’s not a disciple looking at a master at all! It’s more like… huh? Father Emperor?”

The view shifted, and Evan Lan in ancient costume appeared, saying, “Don’t meddle in their business—let things take their natural course.”

“Even talking to my own mother counts as meddling?”

“It does.”

“Give me the Rune Talismans—I want to talk to my mother a bit longer.”

“Your mother is right in front of you—you can talk to her as much as you want.”
