A Sense of Fulfillment

12/19/2025

This person tiptoed and peered at the General's Mansion for a while. Seeing the doors shut and unable to see anything, he didn't dare linger and quickly turned to leave.

Why would this person show up at the gates of the General's Mansion?

Led by the Zhu Family and their relatives by marriage, none of them have any dealings with the General's Mansion.

He definitely didn't come here on official business.

So... could he be here just to sneak a peek at her?

Could it be that Serena Wan really suspects her whereabouts—of course, now's not the time to be thinking about Serena Wan!

As she walked over, they were about to bump into each other face-to-face!

What should she do?

Grace panicked, suddenly turned around, and nimbly switched directions on her horse, burying her head into Evan Xiao's arms and hiding herself completely under his cloak!

Evan Xiao stiffened, glanced down at her, then the corners of his mouth curled up slightly as he rode into the mansion.

Usually, this little troublemaker has no shame when she teases him.

But now, she actually knows how to be shy, hiding herself inside his cloak.

She even buried her head in his chest!

He felt an even deeper sense of fulfillment than before...

Once inside, hearing the doors close, Grace finally relaxed.

Relaxed, she suddenly realized—did she ever consider Evan Xiao's feelings when she did that?

Would he be angry?

Is he going to punish her next—maybe really give her a good thrashing?

She looked up at Evan Xiao, nervously.

Evan Xiao had a slightly wicked smile on his lips and looked down at her. "So you do know how to be shy?" he asked.

Grace: "..."

He's not mad, right?

"Get off the horse!" Evan Xiao dismounted first, then lifted her off like a little chick.

Grace glanced around—there weren't many people, just Louis Lin and Steward Qin.

Steward Qin's face was unchanged, and he even wore a gentle smile.

Louis Lin, on the other hand, looked a bit bitter.

His little fish...

Evan Xiao tossed the reins to Louis Lin and walked away.

Grace gave the two of them an awkward wave, then hurried after him.

After only a few steps, she saw Justin Guo walking toward them.

When Justin Guo saw Lily Bai, his eyes lit up. He glanced at her before saluting Evan Xiao, "General!"

Evan Xiao showed no expression and walked straight inside.

"Hello, Commander Justin!" Grace greeted him politely.

"Goldie, you're back?" Justin's eyes sparkled. "You've been gone three days—was there something going on at home?"

"Nothing major," Grace replied with a wide grin. "It was just my aunt's birthday, so I went to visit her."

"Oh!" Justin nodded, then gave her a slight nod and turned toward the guards' barracks.

Grace continued following Evan Xiao toward Cold Moon Pavilion.

Because she chatted with Justin a bit longer, she fell a little behind and hurried to catch up.

She was just about to catch up when, unexpectedly, Evan Xiao suddenly stopped.

Grace couldn't stop in time and bumped right into his back.

"Uh! Please forgive me, General!" Grace said awkwardly. "I couldn't stop myself in time!"

Evan Xiao turned to look at her, his expression not so friendly, but he didn't say a word.

"General?"

Evan Xiao turned and kept walking.

What was that about? Is he acting crazy or something? Grace was totally confused.

Thankfully, all the way to Cold Moon Pavilion, he didn't do anything weird again.

One master, one servant—both went about their business as usual.

Just like before, now that she's back, Grace is once again his personal attendant—the only one he wants by his side.

So as soon as Grace returned, her days were busy as ever.
