Each Husband’s Lies

Since everyone's working hard for Ivy, I'll go research some more poisons and antidotes—just in case," Lucian Vane said.

All right, since everyone has their own tasks and preparations, let's meet at the martial conference in ten days," Adrian Night said, turning to Eli Crane. "Will you be okay traveling alone? I could have someone guide you, since we're all being watched, but you're safe on your own—if you go with us, you might get caught up in trouble."

I'll be fine—I can find my own way. Don't worry about me," Eli Crane replied with a faint smile.

Hey, are you really sure you're okay? Don't push yourself—your legs are finally healed, and we promised Ivy we'd take good care of you. If you...

My legs are completely healed," Eli Crane interrupted Butterfly Rogue with a smile. Then he stood up and flexed his legs to show he was really fine.

"The end of the martial conference lines up almost exactly with Silver Consort's six-month deadline," Butterfly Rogue said with a grin.

When are you all leaving?" Liam Willow asked.

"Tomorrow," everyone replied in perfect unison. They glanced at each other, surprised by how in sync they were.

Great! In that case, let's have a big drink tonight to fuel ourselves for tomorrow!" Butterfly Rogue shouted enthusiastically.

"Yeah!" they all shouted together again.

Still, none of them realized that things wouldn't be as simple as they thought, nor were their chosen plans necessarily the best for Ivy.

Suddenly, Caleb Miles's abacus started clicking again. The next second, he looked up and said, "No matter how I calculate it, that Song Zhijue is definitely up to no good with Ivy!"

Butterfly Rogue rolled his eyes, "What, your abacus can predict fate now?"

Caleb Miles shot Butterfly Rogue a look, "Why can't my abacus predict fate? From now on, it's counting our profits and expenses—basically, it's all about our lives, so of course it can predict fate."

"Exactly! You all said that guy seems to have special feelings for Ivy. Now he's the Crown Prince and Ivy's just a maid—if he tries to force her..." Butterfly Rogue trailed off, not daring to continue. Meanwhile, no one noticed Eli Crane's hands quietly clenching in silence.

"Don't worry, Ivy's martial arts are top-notch. That crippled guy is no match for her. Besides, I've given Ivy plenty of treasures—she'll be fine if anything happens." Lucian Vane tried to reassure everyone.

"Really?" Butterfly Rogue still looked skeptical.

"Ugh, what's with that face? Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you?" Lucian Vane replied grumpily, then suddenly leaned closer to Butterfly Rogue. "Are you doubting my treasures? How about you try them yourself, hmm?"

"Whoa, no, no, I believe you, I really do!" Butterfly Rogue hurriedly promised, laughing nervously.

"Will Ivy really be okay?" Liam Willow felt uneasy after hearing that Song Zhijue had feelings for Ivy.
