I’m Not an Idiot

A seventh-grade spirit artifact, the Hundun Shield boasts extremely high defensive power—at minimum, it can withstand three to five full-force attacks from a late Nascent Divinity cultivator before shattering.

"One hundred and ten."

As soon as Cheng Bufan finished speaking, someone called out a bid. The market price for the Hundun Shield is around five hundred top-grade spirit crystals, but since this is an auction, the final price will likely exceed six hundred.

So, although Ian Song was tempted, he didn't join in the initial round of bidding.

"How can you even open your mouth for one hundred and ten? I bid two hundred!"

"Two hundred thirty!"

"Three hundred!"

Very quickly, the price for the Hundun Shield rose to five hundred top-grade spirit crystals.

"Five hundred twenty!" called out a female Nascent Divinity cultivator on the first floor, her eyes full of hope and nervousness—clearly, she really wanted to buy the Hundun Shield.

"Five hundred fifty!"

Hearing the competing bid, the female Nascent Divinity cultivator showed a look of disappointment and quietly withdrew from the bidding.

"Six hundred!"

This time, the bidder wasn't someone from the first floor but a guest from the Earth-One box on the second floor.

Immediately, the voices from the first floor fell silent.

"The guest in the Earth-One box has bid six hundred top-grade spirit crystals. Is there anyone else who wishes to raise the price?"

"Six hundred top-grade spirit crystals, once."

"Six hundred top-grade spirit crystals, twice."

"Six hundred ten!" came an unwilling voice from the first floor.

"Alright, this guest has bid six hundred ten. Will the Earth-One box raise the price further?"

"Seven hundred."

A calm voice came from the Earth-Nine Box.

Immediately, Cheng Bufan's voice grew excited: "The guest in the Earth-Nine Box has bid seven hundred! Seven hundred—anyone else want to go higher? Anyone?"

In the Earth-One Box, the bidder was a young man. Hearing Ian Song's bid, he frowned, a bit annoyed, and turned to ask his senior-sister, "Senior-sister, should we keep bidding?"

"No need. Seven hundred top-grade spirit crystals is already far above the Hundun Shield's value. No point in bidding further," she replied coolly, though a hint of excitement flashed deep in her eyes—she hadn't expected him to show up.

In the end, Ian Song bought the Hundun Shield for seven hundred top-grade spirit crystals.

Seven hundred top-grade spirit crystals is no small sum, so Zhong Yi and Iron Mo both glanced at Ian Song in surprise. They hadn't expected this late Out-of-Body kid to be so rich.

Soon enough, someone from Zilan Pavilion delivered the Hundun Shield to the Earth-Nine Box, and Ian Song cheerfully paid the seven hundred top-grade spirit crystals.

Meanwhile, the second and third auction items had already been sold.

The second lot was a bottle of pills suitable for Nascent Divinity cultivators, sold for five hundred twenty top-grade spirit crystals.

The third lot was a partial map, sold for one hundred thirty top-grade spirit crystals.

"Now, let's bring out today's fourth auction item!"

The fourth lot was a cultivation manual that could be trained up to late Nascent Divinity. Cheng Bufan revealed the techniques from Qi Refining all the way to Nascent Soul, and after verification, everyone judged it to be a mid-high grade manual—well worth buying.

"Xuanyang Technique, starting bid three hundred top-grade spirit crystals. Each increment must be at least twenty top-grade spirit crystals!"

Ian Song lacked for neither spirit crystals nor cultivation manuals.

So, he had no interest in this Xuanyang Technique at all.

In the end, this manual sold for four thousand five hundred top-grade spirit crystals.

If a manual that only reaches late Nascent Divinity can fetch over four thousand top-grade spirit crystals, how expensive would manuals for the Fusion or Tribulation stages be on the auction block?

The fifth lot was a fragment of an eighth-grade spirit artifact.

The sixth lot was a seventh-grade spirit sword.

"Seventh-grade spirit artifact, Azure-Leaf Sword. Starting bid: three hundred top-grade spirit crystals. Each increment no less than twenty!"

Even though the Azure-Leaf Sword’s power was sealed, it still radiated a fierce, icy aura of slaughter—clearly, its previous owner had spilled plenty of blood with it.

And since the longsword was Ian Song’s weapon of choice, he immediately decided to bid for it.

"Three hundred fifty!"

"Three hundred eighty!"

"Four hundred twenty!"

"Five hundred!"

...

In no time, the price for the Azure-Leaf Sword shot up to six hundred top-grade spirit crystals.

"Six hundred fifty!" a man’s voice called out from the Earth-One Box.

"Eight hundred!"

Ian Song raised his bid.

"Damn it, it’s that guy again!"

Inside the Earth-One Box, the young man muttered a curse, then turned to the woman beside him. "Senior Sister, maybe I should go teach that guy a lesson?"

"Forget it," she replied coolly, shaking her head.

Heaven-Three Box.

Lucas Li sneered, "That punk’s getting way too cocky. Time to put him in his place!" Then he called out loudly, "One thousand top-grade spirit crystals!"

Someone’s actually bidding from a Heaven-grade Box today?

Who is it?

Sounds young!

The moment Lucas Li placed his bid, the crowd on the first floor perked up—anyone who could enter a Heaven-grade Box had to be at least a Fusion-stage powerhouse.

Ian Song recognized Lucas Li’s voice and curled his lip, half to himself: "Lucas sure is petty. He’s lost to me twice and now he’s jacking up the price just to mess with anything I want."

Hearing this, Princess Lily Li instinctively glanced at Ian Song—he’d just mentioned her sixth brother.

But Zhong Yi and Iron Mo only looked at Ian with disdain, thinking, This guy really loves to brag. As if he could actually make the Sixth Prince suffer losses.

Just then, Ian Song’s voice rang out again: "Two thousand!"

"Whoa, he bumped it up by a thousand all at once! Who the heck is in that Earth-Nine Box?"

"Rich guy alert! I’d marry him in a heartbeat!"

"Damn, that’s gutsy—he just crushed the Heaven-grade Box’s one thousand bid!"

Up in the Heaven-Three Box, Lucas Li hadn’t expected Ian Song to suddenly shout out two thousand, but soon he grew annoyed. Are you trying to humiliate me, acting like I’m broke?

"Three thousand top-grade spirit crystals!"

Boom!

The first-floor crowd exploded:

"No wonder he’s in a Heaven-grade Box—three thousand right out of the gate!"

"A seventh-grade spirit sword should top out at a thousand, but he just bid three thousand—he must think spirit crystals are play money!"

Ian Song’s voice rang out again: "The Sixth Prince really does have deep pockets. I’ll bid five thousand—Lucas, you dare keep going?"

Lucas Li was instantly provoked and sneered, "Five thousand? Big deal! I’ll go eight thousand!"

"Ten thousand!" Ian Song said calmly.

The first-floor crowd was stunned. Earth-Nine just threw out ten times the going price—talk about throwing spirit crystals around! Now everyone was curious: would Lucas Li really keep bidding?

But the Heaven-Three Box went silent.

"I thought the Sixth Prince was loaded. Turns out he can’t even afford ten thousand!" Ian Song’s mocking voice floated out.

Inside the Heaven-Three Box.

Shen Xuanji saw Lucas Li’s face darken and quickly said, "Your Highness, don’t act on impulse!"

"Shut up! Like I’d be scared of some punk!" Lucas Li snapped, then called out, "Eleven thousand top-grade spirit crystals!"

Lucas had expected Ian Song to keep bidding, but this time, Ian fell silent. Suddenly, Lucas felt he’d walked right into a trap. He called out loudly, "Earth-Nine, what’s the matter? Scared to keep going?"

Ian Song chuckled: "Come on, I’m not an idiot. Why keep raising the price when it’s a sword you could buy for a thousand?"

The moment he said that, Lucas Li felt his vision go black, almost ready to cough up blood.
