Withered Bones Within the Array Foundation

12/19/2025

After learning that Joe Di and Charlotte Ling were the ones hunting Yvette Feng, Quinn Windflower made up his mind not to offend these two before him.

Now that Joe Di was asking about Yvette Feng, he hurriedly replied, "I really don't know where Yvette Feng's current lair is. I only know she hails from the Phoenix Clan and once stayed at Boundless Palace. Because she cultivates the Withered Dao, she often uses the blood essence and vitality of cultivators to refine her Dao techniques."

Phoenix Clan? Boundless Palace?

Joe Di immediately frowned. Whether or not he was familiar with the Phoenix Clan, he knew for certain that the Phoenix Clan did not cultivate the Withered Dao. He knew Sarah Tang from the Phoenix Clan, and she was of excellent character.

"You say that Yvette Feng is from the Phoenix Clan, yet she cultivates the Withered Dao?" Joe Di's tone grew colder.

No matter what, Quinn Windflower had no desire to offend people capable of hunting Yvette Feng—doing so would only bring trouble upon himself. Now that Joe Di was doubting his words, he quickly explained, "Boundless Palace should be an offshoot left behind by the Phoenix Clan. Later, the palace lord of Boundless Palace apparently offended a supreme cultivator and was hunted down, eventually vanishing without a trace. Boundless Palace fell into utter chaos, its disciples scattered, and Yvette Feng left during that time.

After that, the Chaos Realm emerged. Yvette Feng went to the Chaos Realm, where she apparently inherited the mantle of the Witheredwood Sage and cultivated the Withered Dao."

Charlotte Ling added from the side, "Brother Joe, what Star Lord Quinn said should be correct. The palace lord of Boundless Palace was called Sihen Feng. This person, not knowing life from death, relied on his strength to bully others and forcibly seized what was not his. In the end, he met a true powerhouse. I don't know how Sihen Feng died, but the general story of Boundless Palace is accurate."

Charlotte Ling did not know whom Sihen Feng had offended, but she had heard of the incident.

Hearing Charlotte Ling call Joe Di 'Brother Joe' made Quinn Windflower even more apprehensive, his scalp tingling. It was clear Charlotte Ling was a Dao Fusion cultivator, yet she addressed Joe Di so respectfully—obviously, Joe Di's strength and status surpassed even hers.

Joe Di nodded, then looked at Quinn Windflower and continued, "Go on, tell me where Yvette Feng might have gone?"

Quinn Windflower gave a wry smile and said, "Daoist Joe, I truly don't know. If I did, given that she used a Realm-Splitting Talisman in my territory, I would have told you without hesitation."

As for Joe Di's aggressive questioning, Quinn Windflower didn't think it was out of line. If he were in Joe Di's position, he might have been even more forceful.

Joe Di felt helpless; he believed Quinn Windflower was not lying to him.

"Alright, I have another question for you. There's a planet called Nie Star—do you know where it is?" Joe Di asked, suspecting that Quinn Windflower might know its location.

Quinn Windflower nodded, "I do know. Nie Star isn't actually a planet, but a clan. The clan leader is called Nie Changping."

"Where is it?" Charlotte Ling asked anxiously, unable to contain herself.

Quinn Windflower showed no intention of hiding anything. "I heard the Nie Clan originally came from the Qisuo Realm. Later, Nie Changping obtained a great opportunity in the Chaos Realm and moved to Celestial Beyond. Now, the Nie Clan is one of the top clans in Celestial Beyond."

Joe Di and Charlotte Ling exchanged glances, surprised that after all their searching, they ended up back at Celestial Beyond.

"Do you have a position sphere for Celestial Beyond?" Joe Di asked immediately.

Quinn Windflower did not hesitate at all; he produced a star position sphere and handed it to Joe Di, saying, "I do have this position sphere, but traveling to Celestial Beyond now, even with a top-grade flying artifact, would take many years. After the great war, many teleportation arrays were destroyed. Especially after Jade River Star was shattered, the connection between Celestial Beyond and the outside world has become much weaker."

"Why?" Joe Di asked instinctively.

Quinn Windflower sighed, "Because Jade River Star had many teleportation arrays, connecting to various places in the void. Jade River Star was the most convenient planet for communicating with Celestial Beyond. Once it was shattered, it became much harder for ordinary cultivators to reach Celestial Beyond."

Joe Di stood up and cupped his fists to Quinn Windflower, "Thank you, Star Lord Quinn, for telling us all this. We won’t trouble you any further."

Seeing Joe Di about to leave, Quinn Windflower hurriedly stood up to see him off.

......

After leaving the floating star continent, Charlotte Ling piloted their top-grade flying artifact, while Joe Di returned to the cabin to continue his secluded cultivation.

Joe Di wanted to reach the Hunyuan Realm before heading to Celestial Beyond. However, he knew he needed a stroke of fortune to advance now. He’d been trapped for thousands of years before without making progress, let alone now. Unfortunately, when he was at the Void Market, he hadn’t obtained a Hunyuan Mist Fruit. Without it, breaking through to Hunyuan would be much more difficult.

At this moment, Joe Di’s main reason for going into seclusion was to upgrade his flying artifact. His Dao Fire, Starlight Void, was already Holy Flame, and he had prepared Silver Ice Sulfur as material. With his cultivation now at the half-step Hunyuan realm, refining a supreme flying artifact shouldn’t be too difficult.

It took Joe Di only three months. After three months, he easily used his Dao Fire and Silver Ice Sulfur to refine a supreme flying shuttle artifact.

The reason he chose to refine a flying shuttle was simply because Joe Di liked its bold, aggressive shape.

The flying shuttle was once again handed to Charlotte Ling to pilot, while Joe Di continued his secluded cultivation. Even if there was only a slim chance of breaking through to the Hunyuan Realm, Joe Di still hoped he could advance before entering Celestial Beyond.

Celestial Beyond was teeming with powerful cultivators. With his current Dao Origin cultivation, he was indeed at a disadvantage. 'Half-step Hunyuan' sounded impressive, but in truth, it was still just Dao Origin.

......

"Vera, why do I feel something is off here?" Tammy Tang whispered after landing on the ground.

Even without Tammy Tang saying it, Vera Tang also sensed something was wrong. Their divine senses were suppressed to a single spatial coordinate, surrounded by a gray darkness that their senses could not penetrate.

In just a short time, the two of them understood completely. Everywhere around them were bones of all kinds, and who knows how many years had passed, yet a chilling aura and a foul stench still lingered.

"Tammy, I suspect this is an array base. My array-breaking disk not only broke through a realm, but also penetrated the protective array base of this realm. Now we're inside the array base. But with so many bones here, it's rather eerie." Vera Tang didn't dare speak aloud and instead sent a voice transmission to Tammy Tang.

"What should we do?" Tammy Tang was a bit anxious. Her knowledge of arrays was far inferior. Even knowing this was an array base, she had no way to get out.

Vera Tang picked up her array-breaking disk once more and said, "Don't worry, let's rest a bit. When the disk recovers, we can try again. My brother gave me this disk; it can break through a realm and any protective array weaker than itself."

Tammy Tang knew who Vera Tang's brother was and trusted her completely.

They didn't have to wait long before the array-breaking disk had almost recovered. Just as Vera Tang was about to activate it again, she suddenly cried out in alarm.

"What's wrong, Vera?" Tammy Tang quickly grabbed Vera Tang and asked.

Vera Tang pointed at a skeleton not far away, her voice trembling. "Tammy, that skeleton..."

"There are bones everywhere," Tammy Tang replied, puzzled. As a Hunyuan expert, she wasn't easily frightened by mere bones.

"No," Vera Tang quickly shook her head and explained, "Tammy, that skeleton must be a disciple of the Sacred Dao Sect—he was killed and thrown here."

And this disciple was no ordinary member. Vera Tang recognized the skeleton as belonging to the Sacred Dao Sect because it still exuded a faint aura of their cultivation technique.

It was the branch of the Three Lives Dao Formula left by her brother. In the Sacred Dao Sect, only a select few were qualified to cultivate this technique. The skeleton had cultivated this branch, which meant he was an important figure in the sect.
