So Delicious

Lily Evans still remembered how Dr. Rowan Lin scoffed at Western medicine, looking utterly disdainful. Who would have thought that, behind closed doors, he’d sneak around reading Western medical textbooks and even use a bilingual dictionary to teach himself foreign languages!

Lily was instantly speechless, her mind conjuring up that classic meme expression:

“I’d rather starve to death, die outside, or jump off this building than eat a single bite of your food!”

“So delicious!”

Seeing Lily Evans utterly dumbfounded, Quentin Lin quietly tugged her away, making sure Dr. Rowan Lin didn’t notice.

The two of them headed to Lily’s lounge in the academy. Quentin Lin snickered, “Sis, look at Dad—he talks big, but he’s secretly studying behind everyone’s back.”

Lily Evans stuck out her tongue, surprised that Dr. Rowan Lin, usually the harshest critic of anything Western, had this secret side to him.

“Princess Consort, you’re here—His Highness has returned!” Belle rushed in at the door, looking anxious as she spotted Lily.

Alexander Hayes is back?

Lily and Quentin exchanged a glance. Lily started to get up, but Quentin held her back.

“Sis, we set up Sophie White and got her good. Do you think Alex will blame you?” Quentin Lin asked, looking worried.

Lily Evans bit her lip, deep in thought, saying nothing.

Quentin Lin immediately thumped his chest. “Sis, it’s Sophie White’s fault to begin with! She killed so many innocent children—she deserves what’s coming! Don’t worry, Sis. If Alex doesn’t handle things fairly and sides with Sophie White, I’ll stand up for you as your little brother!”

Quentin Lin looked every bit the protective little brother, making Lily Evans laugh. She pinched Quentin’s cheek and smiled, “Don’t worry, Quentin. Your brother-in-law isn’t unreasonable. We did nothing wrong, and if Alex dares to say otherwise, I’ll be the first to set him straight!”

“You’re right, Sis! The whole Lin family has your back!” Quentin Lin declared.

Lily Evans followed Belle back to the Prince of Qin’s Manor. Quentin Lin stayed behind, worrying endlessly about Lily.

Quentin Lin had overheard his father say that Sophie White and Alexander Hayes had a special relationship. If Alex sided with Sophie White and made Lily suffer, what would he do!?

Quentin Lin thought about it left and right, hating that he was still just a kid. If he really had to face off against Alexander Hayes, what help could a little guy like him be?

“I’ve got it! I’ll go find Dad! With Dad around, Alex won’t dare bully Sis!” Quentin Lin’s eyes lit up. He dashed out of the room, heading straight for the library, not caring about rules as he barged right in.

Dr. Rowan Lin was engrossed in reading, hiding in the library. Suddenly, someone burst in, startling him so much that his hand shook and the book fell to the floor.

“Q-Quentin…” Dr. Rowan Lin recognized his son, swallowing nervously. He always lectured Quentin not to mess with Western stuff, acting like the authority, but now he’d been caught secretly studying Western medicine. He felt utterly embarrassed!

“Dad, this isn’t the time for lectures. The recent child abductions in the capital—it was Sophie White behind it all. Sis and I set her up and caught her. Now Alex has called Sis away, and I’m worried he might protect Sophie White and bully Sis. You have to come with me—our Lin family’s eldest daughter can’t be mistreated!” Quentin Lin said.

Dr. Rowan Lin didn’t care about saving face anymore. He picked up the book, put it back on the shelf, and hurried after Quentin Lin toward the Prince of Qin’s Manor, muttering, “If Alex Hayes can’t tell right from wrong and insists on protecting Sophie White, hurting Lily, then don’t blame this father-in-law for showing no mercy—I’ll stand up for my daughter!”
