Shawn Young was secretly anxious, bitterness welling up inside him. Just as he was worrying, the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend, having flashed its "equipment" at him, grew increasingly annoyed when Shawn showed zero interest in its "affection." Its beastly nature exploded—howling wildly, it vanished in a blur and lunged straight at Shawn, ready to use its favorite trick: brute force!
"Damn, it flips out the second it doesn’t get its way! Savage as hell—" Shawn Young jumped in fright. The Tri-Tailed Venomfiend was as fast as lightning, and in the blink of an eye, it was less than five meters from him. He quickly retreated several steps, forming the Thunderlord Sigil with his right hand—thumb and ring finger pressed together, middle finger hooked, index and pinky extended—and chanted urgently: "Boundless heavens and earth, golden light appear, command the thunder, lightning god, shield the true one, by law—break!"
As Shawn Young unleashed the powerful Thunderbreak spell, a deep rumble of thunder rolled across the sky. The eerie, grayish demon mist around them was pierced by several bolts of dazzling blue lightning—
"Crack—crack—" Those bolts of unstoppable thunder crashed down from midair, whipping toward the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend like crazed serpents and striking its body!
Unexpectedly, the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend arched and shuddered. Suddenly, a blinding golden light burst around its body, enveloping it completely. The thunderbolts struck the protective golden aura, and after a dazzling flash of blue, they couldn’t break through at all! All they did was slow the beast down for a moment!
"Crap! It’s immune to lightning!" Shawn Young was stunned. He had mastered plenty of thunder-based spells, but now it was clear—thunder magic was useless against the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend!
"Heh—heh—heh—Kid, so you’re from the Celestial Thunder Society, huh? Well, get ready to die! My Tri-Tailed Venomfiend isn’t afraid of lightning at all. Your Celestial Thunder Society spells are useless!" Grandmaster Draco, well-versed in all the Taoist sects of China, assumed Shawn Young was a disciple of the Celestial Thunder Society. He grew smug, thinking victory was already his!
As he spoke, Grandmaster Draco kept chanting his bizarre incantation, commanding the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend to continue its attack. The beast shook itself, tucked its neck, and sprang forward again. It closed in on Shawn Young, jaws gaping and stinking, razor-sharp fangs aiming for his body. Shawn caught a glimpse of its "equipment" gleaming ominously beneath its belly—the beast was clearly planning to bite, drag him down, and then forcibly have its way!
"Damn! What a pervert!" Shawn Young was beyond frustrated. But with the beast so close, he had no time to cast another spell. He dodged to the side, spotted a gap in the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend’s defense, and instantly activated his "Flash Combat Force." His feet hammered the ground, his hands struck like lightning, and he unleashed a "Chainburst Mountain Cannon" straight at the exposed belly—
Bang—bang—His strike landed with pinpoint accuracy, sending the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend tumbling through the air. But to Shawn Young’s surprise, the beast quickly scrambled back up, shook itself off, and seemed barely hurt—his Flash Combat Force, enough to take down a water buffalo, hardly fazed it!
"Damn! Tough as nails! This thing is a real pain!" Shawn Young hadn’t expected his attack to fail—he could only curse inwardly. Now he understood why the Codex of Ascension listed the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend as one of the five hardest ethereal monsters to deal with. Not only was it immune to lightning, but its hide was insanely tough—almost nothing could pierce it!
The Tri-Tailed Venomfiend’s attacks kept missing Shawn Young, and he even managed a counterstrike. Although he didn’t do any real damage, the beast’s rage exploded. Its triangular eyes blazed gold; instead of attacking, it retreated several meters, body tensed, legs braced. Its three serpent-like tails arched up like drawn bows, aiming straight at Shawn Young, the barbed tips glowing with a sinister light!
"Oh no!" Shawn Young realized the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend was about to unleash its ultimate move. Sweat beaded on his forehead, but suddenly inspiration struck. His eyes lit up—he quickly crossed his hands before his chest, left palm cradling the right, right thumb and pinky hooked together, other fingers straight, forming the Sage King's Mark. He rapidly channeled his True Qi, activating the power in his Sea of Illusions, and chanted: "Limitless spiritual treasure, light pierces the nine hells, divine life eternal, Jade Emperor descends, blazing fire connects the underworld, shines upon heaven and earth, Infernal Ninefold Invocation, true flame appear, by law—absolve!"
As Shawn Young finished chanting, the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend let out a monstrous roar, its body jolting as if electrified. Its three serpent-like tails whipped violently—"Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh—" The black, razor-sharp barbs shot toward Shawn Young like armor-piercing rounds, stirring up a foul, stinking wind as they tore through the air.
But Shawn Young had already raised his right hand, tracing a circle in midair. Suddenly, a blaze of multicolored flames appeared before him, enveloping his body in a brilliant, shimmering ring. The swirling fire shielded him, and when the barbed spikes struck the flames, bursts of dazzling sparks erupted—beautiful and terrifying all at once!

The remaining barbs fell to the ground or embedded themselves in the private room’s thick door behind Shawn Young, releasing clouds of foul, corrosive black smoke. The sturdy door was riddled with holes, almost pierced through. Clearly, if those barbs had hit a person—even if the wounds weren’t instantly fatal—the poison would finish them off!
Seizing the moment, Shawn Young focused his energy, ramped up his True Qi, and shouted, "Break!" He thrust both hands toward the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend—"Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh—" Brilliant flames burst from between his fingers, spreading through the air in a dazzling firestorm, raining down on the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend!
The Tri-Tailed Venomfiend shuddered violently, terror flashing in its triangular eyes. It hunched, clearly trying to escape. Shawn Young saw this and knew his Infernal Ninefold Invocation was the beast’s nemesis—he was thrilled and wasn’t about to let the chance slip away. He focused his mind, and the firestorm chased after the fleeing demon, homing in on its body!
Pant—pant—howl—howl—The Tri-Tailed Venomfiend was incredibly agile, but it still couldn’t escape the Infernal Ninefold Invocation! The firestorm engulfed it, setting its whole body ablaze. It rolled and shrieked in agony, its howls echoing through the inferno.
"No! How could this happen? Isn’t this kid from the Celestial Thunder Society? How does he know these spells—" Grandmaster Draco was stunned, his old face twisted in shock and heartbreak. The Tri-Tailed Venomfiend was far rarer and more precious than his Heart-Eater Gu, and he’d spent most of his life cultivating it. To raise the beast, Grandmaster Draco had fed it all kinds of poisons and even offered a bowl of his own fresh blood every month, transforming himself from a burly young man into a frail, shrunken old man. It was truly a labor of love!
Who would’ve thought, after thirty years of painstaking effort, his ultimate weapon—the Tri-Tailed Venomfiend—was burned alive by Shawn Young’s Infernal Ninefold Invocation before it could even show off its full power!
