This Time I Want Her Life

As Tang Shi finished speaking, everyone looked inside the room and saw Zhang Zhaocai lying on the bed, arms crossed, fast asleep.

Everyone exchanged glances, thinking, what's the big deal about a little kid sleeping shirtless?

"Tang Shi, what are you doing? Are you crazy?" scolded Sun Shi.

"Yeah, nuts for sure! I think someone must have hit her in the head," said Sister Zhu.

Tang Shi got anxious and said, "Are you all blind? Didn’t you see my Zhaocai and..."

Tang Shi turned her head and only saw Zhang Zhaocai on the bed, but no sign of Yindou. She swallowed the rest of her words, her face changed, and she hurried inside, pulling at the quilt and searching frantically on the bed.

"Where’s Yindou? That little wretched girl!" Tang Shi muttered to herself as she searched.

She searched everywhere under the quilt and under the bed. The room was small and everything was obvious at a glance. The villagers watched as if looking at a fool, seeing Tang Shi turn the tidy side room upside down in chaos.

"Zhaocai, where’s Yindou?" Tang Shi grabbed Zhang Zhaocai off the bed and asked harshly.

"What Yindou?" Zhang Zhaocai lowered his head and replied.

"You! Why are you so useless! You’re going to kill your mother with worry!" Tang Shi angrily threw Zhang Zhaocai back onto the bed. "Now Yindou is on guard, she won’t fall for it again. You really caused trouble!"

Tang Shi sat on the edge of the bed, fuming, and then burst into loud crying.

The villagers exchanged looks, not knowing what kind of madness Tang Shi was having.

Zhang Zhuzi blushed with embarrassment, rushed in, grabbed Tang Shi’s hair, dragged her out, and gave her a hard kick in the stomach.

Tang Shi immediately stopped crying, tears streaming from the pain.

"You shameless woman, get the hell out of here! And you, you useless kid, put your clothes on and get out!" Zhang Zhuzi shouted angrily, dragging Tang Shi out by her hair.

Zhang Zhaocai followed them out. Passing by Lingdang, he gave a subtle wink and silently pointed towards the back window of the house.

Soon, Zhang Zhuzi and his family disappeared from sight. The villagers hadn’t even recovered when they wondered what kind of act Tang Shi was putting on this time.

Taking advantage of everyone’s distraction, Lingdang grabbed Su Li’s arm and ran towards the back of the house.

Under the back window of the house, Yindou sat on the ground hugging her knees, her face pale with fright.

"Yindou, what’s wrong? Why are you sitting here?" Su Li hurried over and picked Yindou up.

Yindou’s clothes were fine, except for some tug marks around the collar, but the fabric was sturdy and hadn’t been torn open.

Seeing Yindou, Su Li recalled Tang Shi’s earlier behavior and suddenly imagined a terrifying scenario. She quickly hugged Yindou and secretly took her through a small path to Fourth Uncle and Fourth Aunt’s room.

Meanwhile, Lingdang called Li Huahua over as well.

Yuan Jie and Mrs. Chen, hearing Lingdang say Yindou was in trouble, hurried to the room. But they had to act as if nothing was wrong, pretending to be calm and cheerful. Once inside, Mrs. Chen rushed to Yindou’s side and examined her daughter. "Oh my dear, what happened?"

Su Li had already pieced together the whole story from the two girls’ words. Fortunately, Zhang Zhaocai still had some conscience. After Tang Shi left, he let Yindou out through the back window. Otherwise, according to Tang Shi’s plan, the whole village would have seen Zhang Zhaocai and Yindou lying naked together. Even though both kids were young and innocent, Yindou’s reputation would have been ruined—either death or forced marriage to Zhang Zhaocai.

Yuan Jie and Mrs. Chen were furious. Yuan Jie slammed his fist hard on the table, teeth clenched, and said, "Tang Shi actually dared to have such a vicious plan against my precious daughter! This time, I will definitely make her pay with her life!"
