Torture

"Brother Chu, it's me! Evan." Evan stepped forward and repeated.

Chris Chu finally understood, lowered his guard, and stepped forward to size Evan up and down. Only then did his tense face relax into a smile. "You... you're really Evan?"

"Of course!" Evan chuckled.

"Kid, it's dangerous here—how dare you come back?" Chris Chu, who had been happy, suddenly put away his smile and asked in surprise.

"It's a long story. How is Elder Lee?" Evan looked at the frozen figure lying on the bed and asked.

Chris Chu glanced at Elder Lee on the bed and sighed, "Still the same. Unless we find the antidote and another pill."

"Brother Chu, Elder Lee saved my family. No matter what, I'll find a way." Evan answered firmly.

"It's good you have that resolve. But why did you come back so quickly this time—did you run into trouble outside?" Chris Chu was deeply gratified by Evan's expression and asked.

"Not really. I actually want to take you all away." Evan thought for a moment and replied.

"Take us away? Why?" Chris Chu was living well here, protected by the Rising Sun Sect and Elder Lee's status. No one dared touch them, but outside was different—strength ruled, and protecting a frozen person would be extremely hard.

"I'm worried the Wong Clan will harm you." Evan voiced his concern.

"Wong Clan? Did you really kill Leon Wong?" Chris Chu seemed to recall something upon hearing Evan's words.

"I had no choice at the time and had to kill him. Recently I ran into his brother, Warren Wong. If he hadn't threatened me, I wouldn't worry about Elder Lee's safety." Evan sighed.

"Warren Wong? That Wong Clan genius? How did you run into him again?" Chris Chu was puzzled and asked curiously.

"It's a long story. I'll explain another time. For now, let's leave this place." Evan was worried the Wong Clan would return soon, so he wanted to move Elder Lee and Chris Chu first.

"You're overthinking, kid. Elder Lee's status means even the sect master protects him, so the Wong Clan won't dare trouble him. Just focus on finding a solution and come back when you do." Chris Chu did not agree to leave; going outside would attract unwanted attention.

"But Elder Lee is like this—will the sect master still protect him?" Evan asked curiously.

"Kid, don't forget—I can refine pills too. For over a year I've used Elder Lee's name to refine pills for them. Now they worship Elder Lee, and I have to persuade them that he wants to focus on alchemy and not meet anyone, so they haven't stepped into the room." Chris Chu smiled.

"Is that so?" Evan hadn't known Chris Chu had lived like this for over a year.

Chris Chu nodded, "So leave things here to me. Just focus on finding a solution and let us know when you succeed."

"In that case, I'm relieved. I hope the Wong Clan doesn't go too far, or I won't hesitate to wipe them out." Evan snorted coldly, recalling Warren Wong's words before leaving.

Seeing the aura Evan released, Chris Chu was shocked, "You've reached Foundation Building?"

Evan withdrew his aura and chuckled, "I'm already at mid Foundation Building."

"You're impressive, kid. In just over a year you went from Qi Refining straight to mid Foundation Building. Looks like Elder Lee was right—you really are a genius." Chris Chu was excited upon hearing Evan's true strength.

Evan secretly smiled, thinking, 'What if I'm still a genius alchemist?' But he didn't say it aloud, and instead asked, "Brother Chu, do you think your Sky Unity Sect will send people to the hundred-year alchemy competition between Central Province and Eastern Continent?"

Chris Chu remembered his original sect clearly, even after more than ten years. He recalled with nostalgia and regret, "I heard before that the Sky Unity Sect sends outstanding disciples to represent Central Province in the hundred-year event."

"I see." Evan muttered, secretly making calculations in his mind.

"Why ask about that all of a sudden?" Chris Chu snapped out of it and asked curiously.

"It's nothing. Just that it's almost a year until the hundred-year event. It'll be lively then, I bet." Evan smiled.

"A year? So soon?" Chris Chu was shocked by the news.

"Yeah, a year." Evan nodded.

After Evan confirmed, Chris Chu sighed, "If we were still there, Elder Lee would definitely be the first to participate in this event. Too bad that bastard ruined him."

"Don't worry, Brother Chu. If I get the chance, I'll go to Central Province and make sure Elder Lee gets justice." Evan clenched his fists and spoke with determination.

"We'll wait for you." Chris Chu looked at Evan, hesitated, then took a deep breath and replied.

"Alright, I'll go now." Evan said.

"Be careful. The Wong Clan won't let you go after losing a child." Chris Chu warned Evan as he was about to leave.

Evan nodded, then approached Elder Lee. Remembering what Elder Lee had said about being harmed by fellow disciples since childhood, Evan became even more determined to avenge him.

After a quarter hour, Evan left the house, but didn't immediately leave the Rising Sun Sect. He headed toward his old residence, where he saw Logan Luo ordering several outer disciples around.

"Go plant the medicinal herbs! If anyone slacks off, you'll go hungry!" Logan Luo shouted angrily.

Seeing this scene, Evan couldn't help but recall his own past. Although he had no deep hatred for Logan Luo, since he was here, he decided to teach him a lesson.

The disciples saw Logan Luo as a demon and hurried to work. Passing by Evan, they glanced curiously but, pressured by Logan Luo's orders, didn't dare linger. Only Logan Luo stared at Evan and cursed, "Where did this stinking beggar come from!"

After everyone left, Evan showed a strange smile and slapped Logan Luo from a distance. Caught off guard, Logan Luo was sent flying several meters with a loud smack and crash, crying out in pain.

Suddenly realizing the beggar was a cultivator, Logan Luo was shocked and rubbed his face, staring at Evan in frustration. "Senior, I didn't provoke you—why did you hit me?"

"Who just called me a stinking beggar?" Evan teased.

"Well, usually I've never seen you before, so when I saw you for the first time, I couldn't help blurting it out." Logan Luo stammered, feeling frustrated—how did such a powerful beggar suddenly appear?

"A dog's mouth can't spit out ivory. Tell me, where's Tiger Sun?" Evan snorted coldly.

Logan Luo was startled, guessing Evan was Tiger Sun's friend. Remembering how he usually treated Tiger Sun, his legs trembled. "Senior, he, he was just summoned by the sect master."

"Why?" Evan found it odd—a mere outer disciple being summoned by the sect master.

"I don't know, it was just half an hour ago. He just left." Logan Luo rubbed his burning face, feeling frustrated.

"Looks like I need to check with the sect master." Evan originally wanted Tiger Sun to leave the Rising Sun Sect to avoid Wong Clan revenge, but he was a step too late. The sect master's summons was likely related to the Wong Clan, so Evan headed straight for the inner sect, leaving Logan Luo behind in pain.

After Evan left, Logan Luo groaned in pain, "Damn, what a day! So unlucky—even a beggar hits so hard. When Tiger Sun gets back, I'll teach him a lesson."

Leaving the outer sect, Evan quickly headed for the inner sect. To avoid attention, he skirted crowds. Occasionally, disciples who spotted him tried to approach, but Evan knocked them out.

Soon Evan avoided the crowds and, following old memories, arrived at the entrance to the Rising Sun Sect's main hall. A familiar voice called out, "Tiger Sun, has Evan come to find you?"

Then came the sound of Tiger Sun cursing angrily, "Warren Wong, just because you're from the Wong Clan doesn't mean you can abuse the sect master's orders!"

"You brat, still so stubborn! Hmph! Keep beating him!" Warren Wong, seeing Tiger Sun's stubbornness, ordered his disciples.

"Pah! Even if I die, I won't bow to you!" Tiger Sun spat at Warren Wong, who dodged and then struck Tiger Sun hard.

Tiger Sun endured the blow, but blood still trickled from the corner of his mouth.

Outside, Evan cursed, "Warren Wong, just wait—if I don't wipe you out, I'm not Evan Yang!" He didn't rush in, instead observing the surroundings and preparing to take Tiger Sun away immediately. With so many people in the hall, fighting Warren Wong would be difficult, especially with other Rising Sun Sect disciples helping.

"Are you going to talk or not!" Warren Wong shouted furiously inside.
