In his panic, Skylar Loft gritted his teeth, ignored the disciple's explanation, and with a powerful leap, flew straight out the window. He soared a hundred zhang into the air, glanced down at the Cloud Monastery, then spread his sleeves and rode the wind swiftly toward the western side of the monastery.
Simon Stone and Belle hurried outside as well, but they were slower. By the time they reached the scene, all they saw was a group of disciples surrounding Eugene, shouting and cursing.
When Simon Stone and Belle arrived, everyone immediately fell silent. Eugene quickly pushed through the crowd, nodded at Simon, and said, "Uncle. Cough, cough..."
Eugene was responsible for guarding the Scripture Tower. Although he rarely interacted with Simon Stone, he was not as cold or hostile as the other disciples. At the very least, he would nod and greet him when they met.
The other disciples, seeing Eugene's respectful manner, reluctantly nodded at Simon Stone as well.
At this moment, Simon Stone finally saw what had happened.
Eugene was being supported by a female disciple, blood at the corner of his mouth, apparently suffering internal injuries.
"What happened? Are you alright?" Simon Stone asked.
Eugene simply waved his hand and said, "It's nothing."
"How can you say it's nothing? That Yang family witch has gone too far!" a disciple shouted angrily.
But Eugene quickly raised his hand to stop him. "Right or wrong, Master will decide. Mind your words."
Just then, a young Daoist boy hurried over, holding a wooden box and handing it to Eugene. "Master instructed that Senior Brother Eugene should take this to heal his injuries."
With trembling hands, Eugene opened the wooden box. Inside was a pill that glowed faintly with a soft light.
All the nearby disciples looked on with envy.
The pill seemed filled with immortal energy. If taken, it might not only heal wounds, but perhaps even enhance one's cultivation.
Eugene glanced at it, sighed softly, and handed both the box and the pill back to the Daoist boy. "Thank Master for his kindness on my behalf, but I am not seriously hurt. I can recover on my own—there's no need to waste such a fine pill."
The disciples all felt regret, secretly cursing Eugene for being so stubborn.
The Daoist boy hesitated, accepted the box from Eugene, bowed, and then hurried away.
Supported by the female disciple, Eugene slowly walked over to Simon Stone, nodded, and said, "Uncle Skylar has already ordered Junior Sister Yang Chan to move to Swallow Lane. From now on, Uncle... I’m afraid you’ll need to keep an eye out."
