Death Tribulation

It was carefully protected with a sigil meant for storing precious items.

"Don't underestimate it. This was left behind by a former Sigil Sect leader," said Immortal Warden Faustin. "This feather was bestowed twenty thousand years ago by Lady Ehuang, Divine Lord of Cangwu, to the then-leader of the Sigil Sect."

"Is this some kind of magic tool?" Lily Bai felt it didn't seem like one.

"No, but with this Windfeather, you can seek out the Phoenix Divine Lord and fulfill one wish," said Immortal Warden Faustin. "Take this Windfeather and ask the Phoenix Divine Lord to save your life!"

"Can this really work?" It was so bald and shabby, you could hardly tell it was a phoenix feather at all.

"Go, now!" Immortal Warden Faustin pushed her forward.

Lily Bai was shoved out the door. She stood there in a daze for a moment, touching the top of her head, wondering what was going on. Why had a death calamity suddenly appeared?

Could it be that her secret cooperation with Shenxiao had been exposed?

But if that were the case, wouldn't Nine Li and Master also be facing a death calamity?

Why were the two of them perfectly fine?

Lily Bai thought and thought, but couldn't figure it out. Clutching the shabby Windfeather, she went to find Adrian Drake.

As a low-status little immortal, she knew she couldn't just go see the Phoenix Divine Lord directly.

Since Young Lord Adrian said she could ask him for help, she decided to do just that.

Maybe, for the sake of her face, he'd help her out.

When she arrived at his residence in Serena Tang's courtyard, he came out immediately.

Lily Bai asked if he could take her to meet the Phoenix Divine Lord.

"What, you still haven't gotten enough of looking at her?" Adrian asked.

"No, that's not it. I need to see her... It's an emergency," Lily Bai said. "A life-or-death emergency. Could you please take me to her?"

Adrian was silent for a moment, then said, "Alright, I'll take you."

"Thank you, Young Lord Adrian!" Lily Bai said gratefully.

With Adrian leading the way, Lily Bai was able to kneel before Phoenix Divine Lord Tanya Quinn without trouble.

"You wanted to see me?" The Phoenix Lord asked in surprise.

"Yes," Lily Bai replied, offering the phoenix feather with both hands.

Tanya took it, raising an eyebrow. "Is this really something from our ancestor?"

"Yes! It's a gift from Lady Ehuang, Divine Lord!" Lily Bai said.

"So? Is there something you want from me?"

"Yes!" Lily Bai answered.

"Let's hear it, then?"

Lily Bai lay prostrate, not daring to raise her head. "This matter... May I speak to you alone, Divine Lord?"

Tanya sighed. "Fine! I guess I have to, since you have my ancestor's token!"

She gave the others a look, and everyone left the room.

"Alright! Go ahead and speak!"

"It's like this—"

"Lift your head when you talk! Is lying face-down supposed to be more comfortable?"

Lily Bai lifted her head.

Tanya immediately went, "Oh? I heard the Zhuo Clan has a girl who looks a lot like Lucia Lu. Is that you?"

"My mother's surname is Zhuo," Lily Bai said. "My father is Marcus White, emperor of the Eastern Luo Empire. My name is Lily Bai."

Tanya got up and came closer to examine her. "You do! You really do look just like her! If it weren't for the difference in cultivation, you'd be identical!"

Lily Bai didn't say anything.

But inside, she thought, so there really are people who dare to mention her openly!

No wonder she's the Phoenix Divine Lord.

Tanya said, "So, what did you come to see me about? Speak!"

"It's like this..." Lily Bai explained about the ominous cloud over her head. "When a Rune Master sees a calamity, they're never wrong. So, I will likely face a deadly tribulation in the next two days! All I ask is that, when the time comes, Divine Lord, please save my life!"
