It's been four days since Ivy arrived at the Endless Indulgence Kingdom's palace. For four whole days, she's been using Caleb Miles to get closer to Queen Mabel Miao, and after spending so much time with them, she's realized one thing: the key to making the queen happy is Caleb.
Right now, Ivy Shen was picking apart a flower in the garden, feeling a bit guilty. She's been making Caleb rely on her more and more, just so she can have him ask Queen Mabel for her heart's blood—but she really doesn't know how to bring it up. After these days together, she's figured out that Queen Mabel cares deeply about Caleb, but Caleb acts like he seriously resists her!
"Ugh!" She tossed the mangled flower aside and sighed helplessly. How was she supposed to ask for it? Was she supposed to knock Caleb out, then ask the queen for her heart's blood? But she knew the palace had tons of imperial physicians—they could definitely heal him up in no time!
Besides, just yesterday the king came back from outside, and Queen Mabel happily went to greet him. She even ordered that for the next seven days, no one is allowed to disturb them.
According to imperial chef gossip, the queen falls ill a few times every month. Even though it's mostly under control now, there are still a few days each month when it's really bad—no medicine helps. For these seven days, the queen has to spend day and night with the king, only taking breaks for food or sleep, just to stay alive.
Seven days straight just to survive? Just thinking about that, Ivy felt like they were way too hardcore. Seven days—seriously, how do they not die of exhaustion?
"Beijing, Beijing..." In the distance, Caleb came bouncing toward her, clutching a huge bouquet of roses.
Seeing this, Ivy frowned and stood up to look at him. "You—" Oh my god, people in this era actually grow roses?!
"These are love flowers—the florists say they just bloomed today!" Caleb hugged the bouquet and took a deep sniff. "Smells so good!"
"Love flowers?" Ivy stared at the familiar blooms—the name was different, but they were still a symbol of love.
"Beijing, these are for you." Caleb smiled sweetly as he handed her the flowers.
"For me?" Ivy was stunned. Did this guy even understand what was going on? These flowers are a symbol of love!
Seeing Ivy hesitate to take the flowers, Caleb pouted, "That annoying Lily Ruan came today. Aiden told me to give them to her—said it would make her happy. But I overheard the florists saying you can't just give these to anyone, you have to give them to someone you actually like. But I don't like Lily Ruan. I don't want to give these to her. I like you, and I want to give these to you!" He kept holding out the bouquet for her to accept.
Ivy's frown deepened. She looked at Caleb's innocent face and finally blurted out, "How clueless are you? I'm a man right now, okay? I'm a man! What are you doing—confessing to a guy?" For some reason, she was actually a little angry. Even though he was confessing, she was in male disguise!
"Huh? Did I do something wrong?" Caleb timidly pulled the flowers back, looking nervously at Ivy.
Seeing that, Ivy sighed helplessly. "Caleb, I don't care if you remember anything or not, I need you to know that you're amnesiac right now. Maybe when you get your memories back you won't act like this anymore."
"Huh? Why?"
"No reason." Ivy looked up at the stars. "Look, the moon's out."
"Beijing, do you not like Caleb?" Her attempt to change the topic didn't work—Caleb was still focused on her.
Seeing this, Ivy looked at him seriously. After a few seconds, she relented, "Of course I like you!" Ugh, why was she arguing with a kid? He was basically a child right now—she couldn't be that cruel to hurt him!
"Really?" Hearing her say she liked him, Caleb's face finally broke into a smile, and he offered the bouquet again.
"Yeah." Ivy took the flowers from his hands, took a deep breath, then looked up at the sky. The night was really beautiful!
Smack! Suddenly, Caleb planted a big kiss on Ivy's right cheek.
"Caleb!" Ivy turned her head and glared at him. Did this guy just steal a kiss from her?!
"Aiden said, if you really like someone, you have to leave a mark so they won't run away. Beijing, you said you like me, so I left a mark! You can't abandon Caleb now!" He looked at Ivy with total sincerity, and before she could answer, he suddenly pointed at the moon: "It saw everything!"
Seeing this, Ivy smiled helplessly. "Alright, I get it. It's getting late, go back and rest. I'm heading back too."
"Okay! See you tomorrow morning, Beijing!" Caleb waved and bounced away, happy as ever.
As soon as he left, Ivy called softly behind her, "You came, but you're not coming out?"
Hearing that, Eli Crane slowly walked out, holding a coat. He came up to her and draped it over her shoulders. "It's late, and cold."
Seeing this, Ivy leaned into his arms and hugged his waist tightly. "Seven more days. In seven days, I'll definitely get the medicinal catalyst!"
