His Highness Is Bewitched

"Oh, and these are the clothes and jewelry Mrs. Wan asked me to bring for you. She wants you to wear them when you go to the palace," Claire said, pointing at the box she'd just carried in.

Grace opened the box and peeked inside. It was a pale blue dress, beautifully made and so tasteful—she felt it would look amazing on her.

Not even a flicker of surprise crossed her face.

Grace Wan was obviously planning to doll her up and parade her into the palace, hoping to charm the Empress Dowager and win the Emperor's favor. That way, Colin Gu wouldn't fall for another contestant and steal Wendy Zhu's thunder.

She closed the lid and said coolly, "Got it," then waved Claire out.

Then she started fiddling with the Dragon Scale pendant around her neck, totally zoning out.

Her father had already said all that to Evan Xiao, but he still wouldn't give up.

He was definitely smitten with her.

Although palace attendants weren't officially recognized, they were, in reality, women prepared for the Emperor.

If the selected candidates weren't suitable to serve the Emperor, the attendants would be used instead—to keep the Emperor interested.

So, removing a palace attendant from the selection list isn't such an easy task.

Evan Xiao might jump through hoops to get Claire's name off the list, but honestly, he's just spinning his wheels.

So... how's this circus going to end?

She squeezed her Dragon Scale pendant, feeling all kinds of moody.

General's Manor.

Quentin Chin frowned and asked, "Why would the Zhu Family send a brand-new maid into the palace?"

"It's probably because that Grace isn't much to look at, so they're sending Little Fish to help her win the Emperor's favor," Evan Xiao replied, sounding pretty annoyed.

But Quentin Chin shook his head. "Word is, the Zhu Family's eldest daughter is the reigning beauty of Blue Moon Kingdom. Plain? Not a chance."

Evan Xiao smirked. "Even if she's got a little something, with the way she cries and begs to crawl into the Emperor's bed, she's nothing like Little Fish—so pure and adorable."

Quentin Chin rubbed his nose and kept his mouth shut.

He figured arguing was pointless.

His Highness? Totally off his rocker lately.

As the Divine Crown Prince, future big boss of the continent, he could have any knockout goddess or imperial princess he wanted, but nope—none of them do it for him.

Now he's head over heels for a human.

And not just any human—one who can't even tap into a spiritual root.

Unless he's bewitched, Quentin Chin can't think of any other reason.

Trying to talk sense into a master who's lost it? Yeah, not happening.

Quentin Chin had always been a smart dragon butler.

So he switched gears: "General, what's your move?"

Evan Xiao said, "The Emperor still owes me a favor. After the Empress Dowager's birthday, I'll ask him to take Little Fish's name off the list."

"But that's the condition the Emperor promised you when you saved his life! Weren't you planning to use it at a crucial moment?"

Evan Xiao shrugged. "This is the crucial moment."

Quentin Chin just went quiet again.

He just couldn't get through to his boss anymore.

They'd been hiding out in Blue Moon Kingdom for years, plotting life-or-death stuff.

And now, booting some random palace attendant off a list—how's that "crucial moment" material?

Just then, Evan Xiao sensed Lily Bai fiddling with his reverse scale.

She kept stroking it, gently and firmly, for a long time.

She was probably missing him again...

Evan Xiao smiled, his dimples just barely showing—he looked seriously handsome.

His Highness used to never crack a smile, but ever since he met Lily Bai, he's always got these animated expressions.

Quentin Chin slipped out of the room without a sound.
