“Evan Chu, you are the most arrogant person this king has ever met. Today, I will wipe out all your arrogance and show you that there are always higher heavens and stronger people beyond yourself!” King Victor Zhao roared angrily.
“Good! I know what you’re worried about, but you really don’t need to worry—defeating you doesn’t require two people teaming up. I alone can completely crush you. Show me your true skills!” Evan laughed, the Frostbane Divine Sword appearing in his hand.
Jade, the Emerald Immortal Empress, flew off to the side. With both of them being absolute apex experts, she knew that staying here would only get in the way—better to stand aside and watch their showdown.
King Victor Zhao sounded relaxed, but in truth, he felt enormous pressure. This youth wasn’t just some reckless brute—being able to match his instant-movement speed proved his strength. Still, he believed that with his current power, dealing with this youth should be more than enough.
Evan didn’t know the Netherworld held a massive secret: now, it’s extremely difficult for anyone in the Netherworld to ascend. Without reaching the demigod rank, God-Tribulation won’t appear. This was a change deliberately made by a Nether Venerable long ago, resulting in a huge number of late-stage Nether Emperor experts.
But there are very few at the demigod rank or true god-man realm. King Victor Zhao is now on the verge of breaking through to the god-man realm. Once he does, God-Tribulation will come, and he’ll be forced to ascend to the higher Netherworld, the true home of the strongest.
However, without enough Nether qi in the lower world, ascension is impossible. That’s why he’s been stuck at his current realm for tens of thousands of years—unless he encounters some special opportunity, he can’t break through. It’s precisely this that makes him one of the Netherworld’s few true superpowers.
Even late-stage Immortal Emperors or Nether Emperors are basically ants before those at the demigod rank. Even ten late-stage Emperors together can’t defeat a single demigod, because they can’t shatter the space domain.
“Kid, today I’ll show you my real strength! Prepare to die!” King Victor Zhao shouted angrily, a black longsword appearing in his hand as he slashed out—a sword-qi arc dozens of meters long shot toward Evan.
So strong! This guy’s sword-qi attack isn’t any weaker than the Dragon Clan elder’s during the Immortal-Beast War. Netherworld experts really are on another level compared to Immortal Realm experts. Looks like this battle’s going to be a brutal one. Evan muttered to himself.
Evan unleashed Star-Cleave at full force, sending out a massive wave of sword-qi from the Frostbane Divine Sword. Even now, Evan couldn’t help but wonder why his Frostbane Divine Sword couldn’t display its true divine power—right now, it was just acting like a top-grade Immortal artifact.
He’d have to wait until he ascended to the God Realm to slowly unravel that mystery. But right now, the urgent thing was to deal with the trouble in front of him.
The sword-qi from both longswords erupted, instantly creating a terrifying energy storm. Space trembled as if it might crack, while yellow sand swept up into the sky and blotted out everything, making it impossible to see the enemy’s true attack.
The two waves of sword-qi collided, thunderously exploding. Evan was slightly weaker in this exchange and was blasted hundreds of meters back before he managed to stabilize himself. His chest heaved, blood surged, but he didn’t cough up blood.
Several bone-deep wounds on his body leaked golden blood—he looked badly hurt, but with Evan’s monstrous recovery ability, it wasn’t really a big deal.
King Victor Zhao was also sent flying, his chest heaving and his arm slightly numb. He had a few cuts too, but none as deep as Evan’s. Blood instantly soaked his clothes, but thanks to his own strong regeneration, the bleeding stopped after just a few breaths.
He flickered and appeared in front of Evan. “Kid, you do have a bit of strength—actually able to withstand eighty percent of this king’s power. But if that’s all you’ve got, you’ll die here.”
“Old man, not bad yourself. I only used sixty percent of my power to test you, but I didn’t expect you to be such a disappointment. You’d better show your real strength, or you’ll be seriously injured next time. Don’t worry, though—if I say I won’t kill you, I won’t.” Evan said.
Arrogant, reckless—King Victor Zhao couldn’t even find words for how Evan made him feel. Strong was one thing, but this level of disregard was a first. Even the experts from the other three factions didn’t dare treat him like this. Today, he’d finally seen it for himself.
“Since you’re so tough, I’ll let you experience this king’s space domain. Let’s see if you can survive inside!” King Victor Zhao shouted.
“If you’ve got the skill, go ahead and use it. I’m the nemesis of space domains—don’t believe me? Try it!” Evan said carelessly.
As soon as he finished speaking, a crushing pressure slammed down on him, nearly forcing him out of the air. King Victor Zhao’s space domain pressure was no weaker than the Golden-Winged Roc elder’s or the Golden Dragon elder’s—in fact, maybe even stronger.
Evan had endured this kind of space domain pressure countless times before, and his resistance kept getting stronger. He actually wondered how long he could last—though he knew this was a crazy thought, since this was a life-and-death battle, not a game.
He focused, spreading out his divine sense to search for elemental particles inside the space domain. Within a few breaths, he found dense fire-element particles and connected to them, instantly relieving much of the pressure—at least now he could breathe normally.
Once the pressure was within his tolerance, Evan kept communicating with the elements. Soon he resonated with the water element, and the pressure eased even more.
He hadn’t expected this guy’s domain to have three elements. Quickly, he broke through the last one—metal—and the pressure vanished, letting him move freely again.
Evan knew that if he used Divine Cleave, he might kill this guy outright. He couldn’t do that—but to win, he’d have to use the elemental particles within the space domain.
With the fire-element particles, he could summon Heavenfire—a huge ball of Heavenfire would be enough for King Victor Zhao to handle. Next came the terrifying Coldflame. The combination of ice and fire would seriously injure even someone as strong as King Victor Zhao, maybe even force him to stop the fight.
He acted immediately, splitting his focus and gathering the water and fire-element particles. Evan originally wanted to fuse them together for an even stronger attack, but he’d never tried combining so many elemental particles at once, so he gave up on the idea.
Still, he decided he’d try it himself someday—maybe it would create a whole new kind of attack. If it worked, he could add even more elements, and anyone who dared use a space domain against him would pay the price.
Right now, King Victor Zhao was staring at Evan in shock. “This kid can actually last this long inside my space domain? How is that possible? Has he reached the god-man realm? Impossible, impossible!” he thought, utterly stunned.
By now, Evan had the water and fire elements ready. He flickered forward, appearing ten meters in front of King Victor Zhao, and said, “Surprised I can move inside your space domain, aren’t you?”
