The Buck’s Hooves Are Restless and the Doe’s Eyes Are Bewitching

Quinn Shepherd swiftly drew out the Solar Jade Eye and Lunar Jade Eye, positioning one in front and one behind himself. At the same time, a ring of Transmission Flags whirled around his body, their array runes instantly encompassing every living thing within ten paces.

These were Transmission Flags—specialized teleportation treasures. Normally, activating a teleportation divine art would take a moment, but the flags could trigger instantly and send him much farther.

He had refined these array flags precisely to guard against attacks from gods or demons, determined never to end up powerless like when he fell into Furylo’s hands.

The Transmission Flags were only a hair faster than the teleportation divine art, but that split-second could mean the difference between life and death!

Unexpectedly, just as the Transmission Flags began to spin and their runes lit up, a series of sharp explosions shattered each flag. The torn banners scattered like colorful butterflies, leaving only the bare flagpoles stuck haphazardly in the ground!

"The god or demon struck far faster than I expected!"

Quinn didn’t waste a single motion or thought. He instantly activated both Jade Eyes—the Lunar Jade Eye unleashing moonlight, the Solar Jade Eye radiating sunlight. The two flawless jade spheres, one in each hand, blazed with intense energy, ready for battle.

The beams from the Jade Eyes swept out in thick, humming arcs, scanning the surroundings.

When their pupils were fully dilated, the Jade Eyes weren’t especially powerful—useful mainly for illumination. But if Quinn manipulated the nerve clusters within the Jade Eyes, the formations inside would shift, channeling the light of the sun and moon into a single, focused beam!

Those twin beams could wound even a true god!

He had already tested them on the Dragon-Keeper Lord.

Quinn watched the surroundings warily and said in a low voice, "Is the visitor perhaps Goddess Sky Gale?"

"It is I."

A woman dressed in snow-white robes stepped into the moonlight from the Lunar Jade Eye, moving with slow grace. She was beautiful, her hair coiled into a cloud-like bun, two locks twined and draped gently to the side.

Her skirt was broad, her upper palace attire loose, but her waist was slender—so slim it could be encircled with one hand.

There was a unique allure about her; her eyes were cold, as if nothing in the world could truly move or touch her.

Quinn’s eye twitched. A woman like this, once she made up her mind, would be nearly impossible to sway.

Around him, a herd of silly roe deer showed no fear of Goddess Sky Gale at all. They were busy nibbling at his clothes, curling their tongues to stuff fabric into their mouths. A few raised their heads to peer at him curiously, while a buck called out with a loud bleat.

Quinn was on high alert, eyes locked on Goddess Sky Gale, refusing to let a single movement escape his notice.

But the deer tugged so hard that he had to yank his clothes free from their mouths.

"Bleat! Bleat—" Several bucks grew angry, lowered their heads, and began ramming his backside with their antlers. One would butt him, then step back a few paces to gather strength; another would do the same, over and over.

Quinn stood firm as a mountain, unmoving, letting the deer butt his backside as they pleased. "No wonder the Grand Venerable fitted himself with deer legs—these roe deer can be relentless!"

Goddess Sky Gale glanced at the deer ramming Quinn, then fixed her gaze on the two Jade Eyes beside him. "Cult Master Quinn, can you explain why you killed my disciples? And why you wiped them all out? I had only a handful, taught them with care, yet all died at your hands. Even if you are a disciple of the Heavenly Master, you must give a proper account."

"It seems Goddess Sky Gale truly doesn’t know what her disciples have done."

The tension vanished from Quinn’s face; he was visibly relieved. He met her eyes and said sincerely, "Sky Gale, your disciple Gwen He and her fellow apprentices have joined the demon clan and plotted to harm me. I had no choice but to strike hard, or I would have lost my life."

Goddess Sky Gale let out a soft 'oh.' "If Cult Master Quinn claims my disciples defected, you must have evidence, yes?"

Quinn picked up the two Jade Eyes and slowly retreated. "Goddess Sky Gale, please come with me."

He backed away step by step, the Jade Eyes steady in his hands, ready for anything. Bruno the Dragon-Qilin carried the little fox and also retreated slowly. Behind them, the nine silly roe deer kept ramming away, stubborn as ever.

Quinn gradually retreated to the edge of the small mountain village, then into the village itself. In a deep voice, he said, "Sky Gale, look."

Goddess Sky Gale looked at the corpse of the demon clan expert, her pupils contracting.
