Prosperity and Growth
"That's wonderful!" Lily Evans trembled with excitement as she heard the news.
Now that the craftsmen of the Kingdom of Qin could produce power looms on their own, she could finally start a textile factory in Qin!
In this world, traditional textile production relied on old-fashioned looms, which were terribly inefficient. Even the very best weavers couldn't produce much cloth in a day.
But the new power looms were a whole different story—industrial-scale mass production, with efficiency thousands of times higher than manual weaving.
A single modern loom could produce as much in one day as a worker could in half a year, and the quality was even better.
Once the textile factory was up and running, the Kingdom of Qin would be able to produce massive quantities of high-quality, affordable textiles. At that point, the entire markets of Jin and Chu would be hers!
Everyone needs clothes, and the demand for fabric in both kingdoms was astronomical—almost beyond imagination.
Lily Evans's modern textile factory was destined to overturn traditional hand weaving and monopolize the entire market.
The craftsmen of the Kingdom of Qin rushed to build the machines, and the first modern textile factory began construction in the outskirts of Chang'an.
Infrastructure projects across the country were booming, painting a picture of prosperity everywhere you looked.
Once the farmers repaid their debts, they immediately flocked to the pesticide and fertilizer stalls.
This pilot program was a huge success; the people saw firsthand the benefits of the new farming techniques. Everyone trusted the government and followed its lead, all coming to buy pesticides.
Pesticides could be paid for upfront or on credit. Most farmers had no worries now, using cash or grain in exchange.
Once again, there was plenty of grain and plenty of silver!
Lily Evans, accompanied by Lola, wore plain clothes and came to the pesticide stall.
This time, she didn’t need to bother with promotion—the harvest had already proven everything.
The people at the stall nearly lost their minds with joy upon seeing Lily Evans: "Prime Minister Su! You’re truly our benefactor, a living Bodhisattva!"
Lily Evans laughed heartily, looking at these honest folk, and called out: "Does everyone have plenty of grain at home now?"
Everyone answered in unison: "Plenty!"
Lily Evans’s smile grew even brighter: "Now every household has plenty of grain, and with pesticides, fertilizers, and herbicides, you no longer need so many people tending the fields every day. You all have surplus labor—so do you want to earn more money? Do you want to eat meat every day?!"
The crowd’s eyes lit up at the mention of meat.
Lily Evans continued, "If you want meat, you have to work for it! The government is about to start a big project—those who sign up will be paid in silver and grain, and there will be bonuses for those who do well!"
The crowd erupted in excitement, their cheers echoing through the market.
Lily Evans raised her hand, signaling for quiet.
She announced, "The government will be recruiting workers for canal construction. If you’re interested, please register at the county office tomorrow morning."
The crowd cheered again, their faces filled with hope.
After the announcement, Lily Evans and Lola left the stall, blending into the bustling market.
Lola whispered, "Princess, the people are so grateful to you. They truly see you as their savior."
Lily Evans smiled, "I’m just doing what I should. If everyone can eat their fill, wear warm clothes, and live in peace, then I’ve done my duty."
Lola looked at her in admiration, her eyes shining with respect.
The two walked side by side through the lively market, the sun shining warmly overhead.
This was a new beginning for the people of Qin.
