Grace's Tears of Embarrassment
"This is for your mother and your two sisters to live in," Evan Xiao said. "Tomorrow I'll have someone bring them over."
Grace's eyes widened. "What?"
"It's close to the General's Manor, so it'll be especially convenient to visit in the future," Evan Xiao said. "We can even open a gate on the north side—just a few steps and you're there. Even more convenient."
Grace felt like she was about to die.
They're supposed to stay at Moonwater Abbey. How could they possibly come here?
"What's wrong? You're not happy?" Evan Xiao frowned.
Grace instantly became alert. Was her expression off?
Her eyes darted around, and she forced herself to look sad. "General, you may not know, but my father passed away and was buried on Crane Hill. My mother is determined to complete three years of mourning there, no matter what."
Evan Xiao suddenly understood.
Grace lifted her gaze, looking at Evan Xiao with deep emotion. "General, thank you for your kindness, no matter what."
"In that case, let's not move in just yet!" Evan Xiao held her little hand and led her outside. "Once your mother finishes her three years of mourning, you can move in then."
As he spoke, he locked the door and handed her the key. "The key is yours."
Grace was handed a bunch of keys, and for a moment, she actually felt a little moved. "Thank you, General."
Evan Xiao pointed to his own lips. "Give me a kiss."
Grace: "Huh?"
"Quick, while no one's looking!"
Grace glanced around. It really did seem like no one was there, so she quickly stood on tiptoe and kissed him on the lips.
Evan Xiao smiled, took her hand, and leisurely walked towards the General's Manor.
They hadn't gone far when Grace suddenly stumbled, nearly falling.
Evan Xiao caught her by the waist and said softly, "Careful!"
Grace quickly pulled away from him, feeling like she wanted to die all over again.
She saw someone.
The person stood at the side of the road, head lowered and back facing them, making way for them to pass.
A tree had just blocked her view—she hadn't seen him at all!
Just a few steps more, and there he was!
And that person was... Tenner.
Tenner wasn't just anyone—he was Nanny's own son, her milk brother!
He must've seen Evan Xiao holding her hand...
And that kiss just now—he probably saw that too!
He's definitely going to tell Nanny!
Nanny will definitely tell her mother!
"Why are you moving farther away?" Evan Xiao pulled her back and wrapped his arm around her waist again.
Grace looked at Tenner, wanting to cry but having no tears.
At that moment, a particularly wicked thought popped into her head—she wished Tenner was blind...
But his big, bright, black-and-white eyes glanced at the hand on her waist, and he lowered his head even more.
"That soup last night was pretty good," Evan Xiao said. "Make it again tonight."
"Mm..." she answered absentmindedly.
"And sit on my lap to feed me."
Grace: "..."
She really wanted to cry.
I'm totally dead when I get back!
No way, I have to hurry back and shut their mouths!
Her mind in chaos, Grace arrived at the manor and forced a smile. "General, I want to go home right away."
"Why do you want to go home?"
"To tell my mother about us, of course!" Grace shook the keys in her hand. "And the house—once my mother knows, she'll be so happy."
"Alright, I'll go with you."
Oh come on!
Can you not be so clingy?
Grace swallowed hard and said, "Not this time. Let me talk to them first, then I'll bring you over. Otherwise, it'll be too sudden—I'm afraid my mother will be shocked."
"Alright then! But you have to be back before dark."
Grace: "..."
