Blocking the Gate, Striking at the Heart

Quinn Shepherd's cheeks flushed slightly, knowing the Sword Hall Master was talking about him.

The Sword Hall Master must have been deeply affected by that defeat, driving him to relentlessly hone his sword basics. Now, his strength was truly formidable—perhaps on the verge of another breakthrough. For Quinn, defeating him with a single sword strike again was nearly impossible.

As the Sword Hall Master instructed the scholars in the most fundamental sword techniques, Quinn quietly nodded. Over the years, the Sword Hall Master had gained real mastery over the basics. Though still lacking in some ways, his progress was remarkable compared to before.

When class ended and Quinn was about to leave Everglow Hall, the Sword Hall Master suddenly called out, "Quinn Shepherd, stay behind."

Wayne Shen, Claire Yue, and Elias Yun all stiffened, exchanging glances before leaving Everglow Hall together. Lina the Spirit Fox had meant to approach Quinn, but seeing this, she gave up and was dragged away by several princes and princesses.

As the other scholars left Everglow Hall, only Quinn and the Sword Hall Master remained.

"Young Cult Master, what do you think of my swordsmanship?" The Sword Hall Master stood and asked solemnly.

Quinn replied, "You've improved a lot."

The Sword Hall Master's eyes burned with intensity. "Compared to you?"

Quinn thought for a moment, then shook his head. "You're still lacking. Your foundation isn't as solid as mine. Even if your basics were as strong as mine, you wouldn't be my match. In the same realm, my cultivation and techniques far surpass yours. You focus too much on the sword and neglect everything else. In equal realms, you're not my opponent. Still, your progress is impressive."
