Unexpected Outcome (Part One)

1/19/2026

After the wine table in front of Evan Chu was smashed, the food, wine, and utensils scattered all over the floor. Yet not a single drop of oil splashed onto him. Rather than getting angry at the youth's brutish behavior, Evan simply smiled faintly.

"Quite the temper, and not lacking in guts either. The only question is, will your life last long enough? How do you want to die—burned alive, corroded to death, or struck by lightning? I'll give you three choices." Evan Chu said blandly, his tone calm and indifferent, as if the earlier commotion hadn't bothered him at all.

The two youths laughed as soon as they heard Evan say this, thinking he must be either crazy or scared witless by what just happened to say such absurd things.

"And what if I don't choose? You think you can just kill me on the spot? An ant like you dares to act tough here—might as well let me end your miserable life myself." sneered the youth who had smashed the table earlier.

Evan Chu glanced at the youth, then at the shopkeeper, and said, "I didn't come here intending to kill anyone today, but I absolutely despise spoiled brats like you. Too bad you picked the wrong place. In another tavern you might have kept your dog lives, but since you chose this one, you have to die."

As soon as he finished speaking, a powerful aura erupted from Evan Chu, so intense it felt suffocating. He reached out into the air and grabbed the youth directly, pulling him into his hand—leaving the boy completely unable to move.

"I'll let you die in a way that's a bit more painful, as punishment for disturbing my drinking." Evan said calmly. A ball of black mist appeared in his palm—the telltale sign of dark element power.

Evan Chu was all too familiar with the dark element's powerful corrosive nature. Against a Saint Martial Realm youth, there was no way to resist—it invaded his body instantly.

The fierce corrosion immediately began eating away at the boy's muscles and organs. With a casual flick of his hand, Evan tossed him several meters away, smashing another table to bits. But the youth didn't get up—instead, he screamed like a slaughtered pig, his voice piercing the air.

His whole body twisted on the ground, as if suffering unimaginable pain. His face turned a ghastly purple, even worse than a pig's liver. And in just a few breaths, the youth melted into a puddle of blood right before Evan Chu, the other attendant, and the shopkeeper—dead beyond any hope of revival.

Evan Chu glanced at the other youth and chuckled, "He's already dead. How would you like to die? Just say it. His death was agonizing—that's the price for disrespecting me. You called me an ant, but in my eyes, you're not even worth that much."

At this moment, the youth's face had turned pale, and his legs trembled uncontrollably. He tried to run but his feet wouldn't obey; as soon as he took a step, he stumbled and fell, scrambling backward on his hands like a terrified animal.

Seeing this, Evan Chu laughed, "What, only now you know how to be afraid? Others might fear your so-called Young Lord Hades, but I don't. Offend me and I'll kill you just the same."

To the youth, Evan Chu now looked like a demon. He felt a sudden wet heat in his pants, and a spreading stain appeared on the floor beneath him.

"A coward like you isn't even fit to live. Killing you would only dirty my hands," Evan Chu sneered. The shopkeeper, however, was just as terrified.

He never imagined such a powerful expert would show up in his tavern. If this mess wasn't handled properly, his lifelong business could vanish from Moonwell City—years of hard work gone in an instant.

"Y-young master, please, you should leave now! If Young Lord Hades shows up, my tavern will be ruined. I'm begging you, give me a way to survive!" the shopkeeper pleaded desperately.

"Don't worry, old man. In Moonwell City, nobody dares to mess with your tavern. If Young Lord Hades tries to destroy it, I'll take his life myself," Evan Chu said with a smile.

Just as he finished speaking, four people walked in from outside: a strikingly handsome youth, a slightly seductive young woman, and two middle-aged men.

Evan Chu glanced at the handsome youth and instantly realized he was Young Lord Hades, the notorious tyrant of Moonwell City. To think he'd cleared out the whole tavern just to impress a woman—Evan's disgust and killing intent only grew stronger, and he wished he could cut him down on the spot.

As soon as Young Lord Hades entered the tavern, he spotted the youth collapsed on the floor and strode over, demanding, "Qian San, what happened here? I told you to clear the place out—how did it end up like this? Who's got the guts to bully my people?"

Only now did Evan Chu learn the youth's name was Qian San—about as rustic as they come. He couldn't imagine what the kid's parents were thinking, giving him such an awful name.

Seeing Young Lord Hades approach, Qian San clung to him like a shipwrecked sailor spotting land. He scrambled up and wailed, "Young master, you have to stand up for us! He killed Li Er outright, and almost killed me too!"

Young Lord Hades hesitated, about to lose his temper, when the two middle-aged men at his side suddenly stepped in front of him, shielding him and assuming a defensive stance.

"Who are you, exactly? This is Moonwell City, and our young master is the City Lord's only son. Even when you beat a dog, you ought to consider its owner—aren't you going a bit too far?" one of the men said.

The two men had sized up Evan Chu as soon as they walked in, probing him with their spiritual sense—but found they couldn't gauge his strength at all, which was extremely rare.

With their own strength, they could normally read experts two whole levels above themselves. But this youth was completely unreadable—and he'd just killed Saint Martial Realm Li Er in a single move. Judging by Qian San's terror, Evan must've used some incredibly domineering technique to scare him like that.

That meant Evan's strength had already surpassed Fifth-Layer Venerable Martial Realm—maybe even Sixth or Seventh Layer. Someone like that was not to be trifled with; they had to get the young master back to the City Lord's Mansion.

"Young master, you need to leave—this guy is a super expert. We'll cover your escape. Get back to the City Lord's Mansion first, then we can talk," one of them urged.

Evan Chu glanced at Young Lord Hades and laughed, "Even if you run back to the City Lord's Mansion, I can kill you all the same—and raze the mansion to the ground. If you don't believe me, try it."

Young Lord Hades was startled, not understanding why his guards were acting this way. But he wasn't stupid—he spun around and bolted, moving with impressive speed.

Evan Chu didn't bother chasing him. A monk may run, but the temple can't—once he'd dealt with these two, he'd naturally pay a visit to the City Lord's Mansion. Anyone who'd followed Young Lord Hades this long had surely done plenty of evil; such people had to be killed.

Evan Chu repeated himself, "How do you want to die? I'll still give you three choices..."
