Chapter 524: Breaking the Array

At this moment, he didn’t stop working. Instead, he drew a simple alchemical array on the ground and carefully embedded the Heart of Lava within it. As a surge of magic poured in, countless golden runes erupted from the Heart of Lava, accompanied by a thick demonic aura.

Rumble...

In an instant, vast swathes of dark clouds enveloped the entire Specter Valley. Gales howled and thunder rolled, plunging the valley into darkness, as if the end of days was upon it.

However, the transformation didn’t last long. The howling winds gradually subsided, the rolling thunder faded, and beams of light pierced the clouds. Soon, the magical energy in the air boiled over, becoming frenzied and surging like a tide throughout Specter Valley...

What’s happening?

In the area claimed by the Merlin Family in Specter Valley, most of the young mages meditating were startled awake by the valley’s changes. They could clearly sense the nearly tangible magical energy flowing around them. Stunned into silence, they realized the valley’s magic concentration—already much higher than outside—had grown even richer. The change was simply unbelievable...

Mages are always highly sensitive; even the slightest shifts rarely escape their notice. Now, the richness of Specter Valley’s magic had undergone a dramatic transformation—at least triple what it once was.

The mages were ecstatic, not daring to waste a single moment. They quickly entered meditation, drawing in the surrounding magical energy. Soon, waves of magical aura rose, and breakthroughs happened one after another.

Of course, the rapid rise in magical concentration brought dramatic changes to Specter Valley as well. Under the influence of nearly tangible magic, the lush trees grew at a visible rate, and hundred-meter giants—usually seen only in untouched forests—could now be found everywhere in Specter Valley.

At this moment, the valley echoed with the roars of magical beasts. Many of them grew restless, their eyes nearly blood-red. Far more active than usual, they left their lairs and attacked humans throughout the area. In just a few hours, more than a dozen members of the Merlin Family were injured.

But Leon knew this was normal. When the magic concentration reached a certain threshold, magical beasts would go berserk for a short time. It wouldn’t last long—once they adapted to the new environment, they’d calm down.

Once the beasts calmed down, they would grow even stronger in Specter Valley’s unique environment...

Since Leon needed to stay near the Dragon Revival Array, he couldn’t leave. He summoned the Merlin Brothers and had them lead part of the Planar Legion to suppress the beasts.

About half an hour later, Specter Valley finally quieted down. Ross Merlin returned, his face beaming with joy. Seeing Leon, he couldn’t wait to say, “Cousin, the changes in those beasts are incredible. Take the level fifteen Fire Lizard—after going berserk, even a level nine Archmage would struggle to defeat it. If we could tame these beasts, our Merlin Family would have a massive beast legion on the Furyflame Plane. Just thinking about it is exciting...”

Tame magical beasts?

Before Leon could respond, Owen Merlin scoffed, shooting Ross Merlin a sideways glance. “If it were that easy, the top factions in Auckland would all be able to capture and tame beasts above level thirty.”

“I’m not finished yet...” Ross Merlin glared at Owen Merlin. “Of course, adult magical beasts aren’t easy to tame. Some high-level beasts are as intelligent as humans. What I mean is, we could capture beast cubs and start taming them from a young age. Naturally, it’s a long and complex process, requiring lots of time.”

Heh, that’s actually a good idea...” Leon nodded with a smile.

Soon after, Ross Merlin and the others left. With the magic concentration in Specter Valley rising, meditation efficiency would greatly improve—they clearly didn’t want to miss such a golden opportunity.

With Ross Merlin and the others gone, the area around the Dragon Revival Array grew quiet once more. Leon was left alone to meditate, the magical array armor constantly running, monitoring the surroundings. After a day, he slowly opened his eyes and walked toward the array...

A thousand meters underground, he saw the small alchemical array he had set up earlier, blazing with dazzling white light. The totem within the array, its flame at the top, continued to flicker, radiating a terrifying aura. At this moment, the protective force surrounding the Dragon Revival Array had vanished without a trace.

What lay before Leon now was the Dragon Revival Array itself...

Countless densely packed runes churned in the void, exuding a profound aura. Even Leon, facing this peak True Spirit-level array, felt his confidence waver.

Normally, Leon wouldn’t be able to break a peak True Spirit-level alchemical array...

But the Dragon Revival Array was special...

Coming from thirty thousand years in the future, he had pored over books on the Dragon Revival Array in the vast, decaying library countless times. He was intimately familiar with its principles and structure.

But a peak True Spirit-level array was still a peak True Spirit-level array...

At his level, even touching such an array was extremely dangerous. Even though he knew its structure and principles, breaking it required utmost caution—a single mistake could spell disaster.

After all, this was equivalent to the power of a peak Titled Archmage. If it erupted, even with multiple True Spirit Magic Relics, he would be defenseless...

That’s why he had to be even more cautious...

Preparations for breaking the Dragon Revival Array had been completed days ago: a full bottle of Star Ink and stacks of blank manuscript paper. He pulled a quill from his pocket, dipped it in ink, and began writing rapidly. The first thing he needed to calculate was a complex formula...

The alchemical knowledge contained in this formula was immense—even Leon, with his formidable calculation skills, couldn’t help but feel a headache.

The calculations continued...

After triple-checking the calculations, Leon picked up a crystal pen, dipped it in Star Ink, and carefully inscribed a rune at the edge of the Dragon Revival Array. Instantly, light flashed and a terrifying power surged, only retreating after a few seconds.

Truthfully, when writing the first rune, he was extremely nervous. He’d broken True Spirit-level arrays countless times, gaining plenty of experience, but ordinary and mid-tier arrays were nothing compared to the Dragon Revival Array...

Though only one or two ranks apart, the gap was immeasurable...

The pressure from the Dragon Revival Array was like facing Star Sage Joey or Heron—he had no confidence at all. Fortunately, he knew the array’s structure and principles in advance; otherwise, he’d be helpless.

For the next two days, he repeated two tasks: meticulous calculations and careful inscription. The alchemical and magical knowledge required was vast—even compared to some Creators, his expertise was unmatched. To reach this stage, it would have taken at least a month under normal circumstances.

After two days of sleepless calculations, Leon found it far from easy. He had to spend a great deal of time thinking and sorting through his knowledge, and in the process, he gained new insights into magic and alchemy.

At this point, Leon’s eyes were bloodshot, his whole body exhausted and his mental state at its worst. Still, he didn’t stop working. After another round of calculations, he shoved aside the pile of discarded manuscript paper, stood up, and inscribed a rune on the Dragon Revival Array.

Rumble...

Suddenly, the ground shook violently and a terrifying aura spread. Countless dazzling runes surged madly. Even Leon couldn’t help but pale—he hadn’t fully broken the Dragon Revival Array. From the start, he realized that even with his grasp of the array’s principles and structure, it would take three months to fully break it...

Three months was far too long...

From Northend to the Furyflame Plane, Leon had spent over three months in total. The Ancestral Family Council sent him to Furyflame to work with the Watson Family and explore the Merlin Family’s ruins in the Flowfire Mountains. He’d recently learned the Watsons were nearly ready and would send people soon...

But breaking the Dragon Revival Array would take three months—he couldn’t afford to wait. He’d already spent too much time on it and wasn’t willing to delay any longer.

So he chose a compromise...

He would only break part of the array—just enough to activate the Dragon Revival Array.

It must be said, this plan was extremely risky. As Leon now faced, the moment the array activated, its unleashed power could collapse the area, possibly burying him alive.

After all, this was a thousand meters underground...
