Don’t Believe It, the Patient Was Stolen

2/14/2026

The Crown Prince's heart disease has flared up again!

It’s been less than a month, and he’s already had two attacks. For them, this is absolutely bad news—it means the Crown Prince’s body has deteriorated to the point that even medicine is useless.

Ninth Royal Uncle Nolan Dongling held the intelligence report in his hand, paused to consider, and then went to find Serena.

Just as Nolan expected, when Serena read the report, her expression immediately turned grave. Nolan had assumed Serena would be anxious or angry, refusing to treat the Crown Prince, but instead, after a brief silence, she regained her usual clinical composure.

“When will the Crown Prince arrive?” Serena maintained strict professional boundaries. Since she had agreed to treat the Crown Prince, she would view him solely as a patient, keeping personal feelings out of it.

“Three days from now.” The Crown Prince’s body couldn’t handle long-distance travel, so his party could only move slowly. Even though they set out earlier, they would still arrive late.

“I’ll be ready.” Serena’s attitude was strictly business, which made Prince Nolan both pleased and frustrated.

He liked Serena’s calm and rational approach—she could face any challenge with composure. But he also resented that she rarely showed any vulnerability in front of him, leaving him no chance to play the hero and save her.

The two discussed further; Serena made several requests, and Prince Nolan nodded, promising to meet all her needs as best he could.

While Nolan and Serena worried over the Crown Prince’s condition, the Crown Prince himself showed no concern for his own health, idly chatting with two physicians he’d met along the way.

The Crown Prince and Prince Felix Dongling had also slipped away quietly, concealing their identities and traveling undercover. The Emperor no longer cared about the Crown Prince, so their journey had been smooth—until misfortune struck. It wasn’t a natural disaster, but a man-made one: the Crown Prince got caught in the rain, caught a chill, and triggered his heart condition.

When the Crown Prince became seriously ill, they were stranded on a remote path, far from any village or settlement. Prince Felix Dongling was so frightened he nearly lost his mind. If the Crown Prince hadn’t had the medicine Serena Feng had prepared for him, he would have died long before Serena could arrive to save him.

The Crown Prince unlocked his case, and Prince Felix rummaged through the bottles and jars for the right medicine. He didn’t care whether the pills could be mixed—he simply administered all the remedies for chills, fever, and heart disease that Serena had prepared, giving them to the Crown Prince together.

Fortunately, Prince Felix kept his composure. He didn’t foolishly think that a single small pill was useless or that more would be better. He followed Serena Feng’s written dosage instructions precisely, giving the Crown Prince medicine every three hours and never letting him take it on an empty stomach.

With Serena Feng’s Heart-Guard Pills, the Crown Prince managed to pull through. These same pills also caught the attention of two legendary physicians, second only to the Master of Mystic Healer Valley.

Both the Crown Prince and Prince Felix recognized their names: Dr. Elliot Redwater and Poison Doctor Marcus Guile. They had risen to fame alongside the Valley Master.

Dr. Elliot Redwater was a master of acupuncture, traveling the world with only three golden needles. Poison Doctor Marcus Guile liked to use toxins as medicine, combining various poisons to treat illness through their interactions.

The two were sworn brothers, inseparable since they entered the field. Dr. Redwater preferred flamboyant, colorful clothing, with fox-like eyes and thin lips—he looked nothing like a proper gentleman. Even at nearly forty, he still had a devilish charm.

Dr. Guile was the exact opposite—he favored pale, understated clothing and appeared every bit the refined scholar, with no sign that he spent his days handling poisons.

The two of them were living proof that you can’t judge a person by their appearance.

When the Crown Prince and Prince Felix met them, they immediately tried to persuade the two masters to join their party. But these renowned healers were not so easily convinced; the Crown Prince tried several times, but neither was moved. Both doctors had long lived in seclusion and had no intention of returning to the world.

To win them over, the Crown Prince had no choice but to use his trump card: he claimed he knew a doctor who could cure his heart disease, and that this journey was to seek treatment from her.

Even for legendary doctors like Dr. Redwater and Dr. Guile, such a claim was unbelievable—ordinary physicians would dismiss it without a second thought.

“Impossible. Your heart disease is incurable. All you can do is wait for death,” Dr. Elliot Redwater declared.

Poison Doctor Marcus Guile thought for a moment and said, “If I use poisons, I can probably extend your life by three to five years, but a complete cure is impossible.”

Let’s be honest, it’s heart disease—the organ is buried deep in your chest. What are you going to do, open up the chest, take out the heart, fix it, and put it back in?

This is reality, not a storybook. Not even an obscure doctor or the mad Master of Mystic Healer Valley would dare claim they could take out a heart and let the patient live.

Seeing their disbelief, the Crown Prince wasn’t angry. He simply appeared mysterious, deliberately playing with one of Serena Feng’s Heart-Guard Pills in front of them.

“Gentlemen, you may not know, but my friend—though not famous—has cured many difficult illnesses. I’m sure you know of Victor Yun’s case.”

“We do. We came out of seclusion specifically for Victor Yun’s illness, and planned to visit the Eastlyn Imperial Capital to see him,” Marcus Guile said frankly, revealing their reason for coming down the mountain. After all, neither of these men feared the Crown Prince and Prince Felix.

He and Elliot Redwater had lived in the mountains for years, devoted to compiling medical texts and aiming to write a compendium of rare diseases for future generations. If not for Victor Yun’s extraordinary condition, they wouldn’t have come down.

If they could record Victor Yun’s illness, it would be a valuable case for future doctors to study.

There was hope now!

The Crown Prince’s smile bloomed like peach blossoms, making him look much less frail. Beaming, he said to the two doctors, “Gentlemen, Victor Yun’s illness was cured by my not-so-famous friend. She opened the back of his skull, removed the necrotic tissue, and sewed it back up. Dr. Redwater, Dr. Guile, if my friend can open a skull and keep someone alive, she can certainly open a chest and do the same for me.”

Although the Crown Prince hadn’t witnessed Serena’s surgery on Victor Yun, he knew the general details. He doubted the imperial physicians would dare hide the truth from him.

“Opening the skull and keeping someone alive—that’s been the lifelong pursuit of the Master of Mystic Healer Valley, hasn’t it?” Dr. Redwater’s eyes flashed with intrigue, his gaze as captivating as ever. Fortunately, the Crown Prince, beset by heart disease, was immune to such charms.

“The Master of Mystic Healer Valley was there in person and witnessed the entire procedure,” the Crown Prince added.

The Crown Prince’s words made Dr. Redwater and Dr. Guile suspicious of his identity. Their faces turned cold as they asked, “Who are you?”

The Crown Prince knew too much!

“Gentlemen, you should be able to guess—who else in the world knows so much about the secrets of the Eastlyn Imperial Capital and was born with a congenital heart disease?” The Crown Prince didn’t say it outright, but gave a clear enough hint.

The Eastlyn Crown Prince!

So the brain surgery was real? And the heart operation for the Crown Prince is real too?

Dr. Redwater and Dr. Guile exchanged glances, both thinking the same thing.

Seeing their expressions, the Crown Prince knew they were tempted. He tossed the pill to Dr. Redwater, having noticed that the two deferred to him.

“I know you’re interested in the pill. It was formulated by my friend. You can study it tonight, but return it to me by morning—it’s my life-saving medicine.”

After saying this, the Crown Prince signaled Felix to leave…

He had cast his bait—whether they would bite was up to them…

These two would serve as Serena Feng’s consultation fee!
