But then, cries erupted behind them: "Empress Dowager!"
The Empress Dowager has fainted!
Lucy turned to look and saw the Qilin Empress Dowager collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
She definitely wasn’t faking it.
...
Celestial Palace.
The Celestial Palace recently held a grand celebration.
Sean Shaw became the center of praise among the gods.
Just a few days ago, the Divine Guard Camp held a military exercise.
The strongest Divine Guard unit in Drake Abyss was actually defeated by the Three-Realms Joint Army under Sean’s command.
All the gods agreed: the Fifth Prince is truly a prodigy—so young, already ascended to High God, and a master tactician as well.
It was clear that most of their praise was sincere.
Even more genuine were the divine maidens.
Sean just sat there quietly drinking, not talking or smiling.
But to the divine maidens, his aloof, indifferent attitude was irresistible. They stared at him like lovesick fans, some even tried to flirt, but one look from his icy eyes sent them running.
...
Empress Grace watched Sean receive more and more praise, while her own fourth son was ignored, and her third son was exiled to the lower realm. She grew so frustrated she nearly broke her nails.
Then, Sean suddenly realized his wine had been spiked.
Maybe it’s his mother’s inheritance, but he can always sense subtle disturbances others miss.
He secretly asked Adrian Drake to investigate and discovered it was Dragon Desire Grass.
That stuff is an incredibly strong aphrodisiac for dragons.
Sean glanced at Emperor Evan and Empress Grace, who were playing the loving couple for show, then got up and left with a thoroughly world-weary expression.
When he got back to his quarters, he found a scantily clad fairy lying on his bed.
A quick search revealed she had a Clarity Charm on her.
The plan was obvious: once the drug kicked in and he pounced, she’d fake a struggle and the talisman would record the whole thing as evidence.
They really went all out.
Sean, even more annoyed, tied up the fairy with an Immortal Binding Rope and had Skye deliver her to Empress Grace.
He also presented the Clarity Charm as evidence, asking Empress Grace to deal with her according to palace rules.
Empress Grace, though embarrassed, expelled the fairy from the Celestial Palace, but Sean was still unhappy.
He sat drinking alone, sulking.
Skye came over, sat close beside him, poured himself a drink, and said nothing—just kept him company.
“This palace is like a tomb full of traps,” Sean said coldly.
Skye looked at him, then suddenly turned and pulled out a Messenger Charm from Sean’s arms, handing it to him. “Talk to her!”
Sean shook his head.
“Afraid you’ll pass your mood onto her?”
Sean nodded. “She’s been through a lot lately… If I can’t be with her, fine, but how could I tell her all this?”
“Isn’t your Heartscale always with her?” Skye leaned on his shoulder, smiling.
Sean’s ears reddened slightly. He didn’t reply.
“Still, you should tell her to wear your Heartscale outside her clothes! Otherwise she’ll keep having steamy dreams every night!” Skye laughed. “Last night, you even mistook me for her and hugged me… hahaha!”
“Shut up!”
“Listen, your Heartscale isn’t just sensitive—it’s unique,” Skye said.
“How is it unique?”
It can merge with a person’s soul.
“The Heartscale can merge with the soul?” Sean asked. “What’s the point?”
