Max Mo stood in place, his face full of helplessness.
He knew it—his sister, whenever she was with Cici, would joke about anything, no matter how outrageous.
The assistants standing around Max Mo were all trying to hide their laughter.
Maybe these two women are the only ones in the world who can openly talk about their CEO’s looks and figure without getting on his nerves.
One is the CEO’s beloved, the other is his own sister.
Max Mo waited until the laughter died down before clearing his throat and walking over: "So this is where you are! I’ve been searching all over for you."
Sophie Mo looked at her brother with a half-smile—he must have heard their laughter just now, right?
But Sophie Mo wasn’t one to embarrass her brother. She just smiled and nodded: "Yeah, we got tired from walking, so we came over here to rest for a bit."
Max Mo glanced at Julia Yu, who was standing off to the side trying to make herself invisible, and gave a barely noticeable nod. Then he sat down next to Sophie Mo, across from Cici: "I heard Cici’s luck is amazing—she just picked out top-quality jade?"
Cici grinned and said, "Yep, it’s the best glass-type jade. Later, I’ll have some little trinkets carved out—everyone who’s here gets a share!"
“Even I get one?” Max Mo’s smile grew even wider.
“Of course you do!” Cici replied with a laugh. “Since I used your credit card, I have to butter you up a little!”
Max Mo’s smile became even more genuine when he heard Cici had used his card.
He couldn’t help but think to himself—if only Cici would always use his card, how wonderful would that be.
Being able to pay for the woman he loves—that’s probably the greatest pride of a successful man.
Actually, Cici hadn’t planned to use Max Mo’s card at first.
But after she and Sophie Mo picked out a pile of raw stones, Sophie Mo insisted on checking out together. Before Cici could object, Sophie had already paid with her card.
“Alright then, I’ll be waiting for your gift.” Max Mo’s smile grew even brighter.
“By the way, bro, how come you have time to come over?” Sophie Mo lounged on the sofa, hugging a pillow lazily like a cat.
Max Mo’s smile faded as he replied, “The Qu family in Malaysia invited me over for the birthday banquet of their patriarch’s eightieth birthday. Our Mo family wants to expand further into the Malaysian market, so we need help from the local big families. Since the Qu family sent an invitation, I have to make the trip. It’s more convenient to go from R City.”
“What a coincidence—we just met someone from the Qu family.” Sophie Mo said, “I’m starting to think that Qu Zhengming did it on purpose.”
“Oh?” Max Mo’s interest was piqued. “What happened?”
“He stopped me and Cici, saying he wanted to buy the raw stone in Cici’s hand as a birthday gift for his grandfather’s eightieth birthday.” Sophie Mo said nonchalantly. “That’s the kind of story you’d tell a kid. If he really wanted a raw stone, there are plenty out there—why fixate on the one Cici has? Sure, jade mines aren’t as plentiful as before, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any good stones left. He found us with pinpoint accuracy; it’s obvious he had another motive. The funniest part is, he pretended not to know us and tried to win us over, acting like some clueless, bookish rich kid.”
Sophie Mo’s eyes were indeed sharp.
She saw right through the whole situation.
But Sophie Mo had to admit, even though she knew he was deliberately approaching them, she still didn’t dislike Qu Zhengming.
Maybe Cici was right—she’s always been more forgiving of good-looking faces.
Cici said slowly, “But I have to admit, his excuse for buying the raw stone let us quickly learn about the Qu family’s situation.”
“If nothing goes wrong, Charles Yin probably got an invitation too.” Sophie Mo said. “Even though the Yin family doesn’t have much control over the Malaysian market, all the big families are connected. The Qu family heirs must be desperate to bring in outside help.”
“That’s possible.” Cici nodded.
Just then, Xiao Wang hurried in from outside and whispered in Cici’s ear, “Madam, Xiao A just called. The CEO asked you to go to Malaysia in his place. He has an international energy forum next week and, as the chairman, he can’t get away. He’s asked you to go instead. The invitation has already arrived.”
“Got it.” Cici nodded.
Xiao Wang immediately turned to go deliver the message.
Cici turned to Max Mo and Sophie Mo and said, “You guessed right! The Qu family did send Charles an invitation. But as luck would have it, Charles is the chairman of the international energy forum and can’t miss it. So, I’ll be going to the Qu family in his place.”
Max Mo’s eyes lit up.
He couldn’t hide the excitement in his eyes.
Sophie Mo laughed, “Wow, it’s going to be lively! This is great! Cici, we haven’t gone to an event together in ages! Bro, give me your invitation—I’ll go in your place!”
Max Mo immediately said, “You’re already married, so don’t get mixed up in the family’s business. As CEO, I care about the Malaysian market. You can tag along, but don’t cause trouble! Otherwise, I won’t be able to explain things to the Jing family!”
Sophie Mo looked at Max Mo with a half-smile.
Max Mo pretended not to notice.
Xiao Wang handed over the invitation. Cici opened it and saw the event was scheduled for a week later.
“Looks like we’ll be taking action together,” Cici said. “I didn’t want to get involved in the Qu family’s affairs, but now it seems I have no choice.”
“We’re just going to watch the drama anyway,” Sophie Mo said. “No matter how wild things get at the Qu family, it won’t affect us.”
“True enough,” Cici nodded.
After the three of them left, they returned to the hotel.
Since Max Mo arrived late, his room was on the 21st floor, while Cici and Sophie Mo’s rooms were on the 16th.

Plus, the hotel was huge, so going back and forth really took a lot of time.
So after they got back, Cici greeted Sophie Mo and decided to take a nap to catch up on sleep.
As for the raw stones she bought, except for the glass-type one, the rest were sent back to her home in N City. She figured she’d get around to cutting them open when she had some free time.
At this moment.
In a guest room at the neighboring hotel, Qu Zhengming sat at his desk, listening to his subordinate’s report: “Ninth Young Master, Max Mo just arrived. He’s already met with the Mo family’s eldest daughter and the Yin family’s young madam. Our people overheard that the young madam will represent Charles Yin and attend the Qu family banquet in Malaysia.”
Qu Zhengming curled his lips. “Those two women are really interesting.”
He knows how to put on a show, but they’re no slouches either.
Actually, Cici being called Yunxi wasn’t wrong.
The eldest Miss of the Mo family loved to make trouble. She even told him to call her Yunyin.
Heh, do they really think he’s that easy to fool?
“What about my brothers?” Qu Zhengming asked.
“They’re all frantically contacting their powerful friends, probably hoping to stage a coup at the old man’s birthday banquet,” the subordinate replied. “Besides that, there’s a lot happening back home too. Madam has already started winning over the minor shareholders, just as you instructed.”
“If we’re going to play, let’s play big.” Qu Zhengming’s eyes darkened, clearly plotting something.
Meanwhile, after Cici fell asleep, Julia Yu headed straight to Max Mo’s room.
Max Mo had called her over to give her some instructions: “The situation in Malaysia is still unclear. The Qu family might cause a lot of trouble, so stay alert and protect Cici.”
“Yes, Mr. Mo.” Julia Yu nodded. “I’ve studied Malaysian law. I won’t let anyone exploit legal loopholes to hurt her.”
Max Mo was very satisfied. “Good. Also, prepare some information about the Qu family and give it to Cici when the time is right.”
“Yes, Mr. Mo.” Julia Yu thought Max Mo was going a bit overboard with all this.
Who is Charles Yin? If he dares to send Cici in his place, there’s no way he wouldn’t arrange protection for her or make sure she has all the info she needs.
It’s just that Max Mo was worried, that’s all.
Julia Yu didn’t say anything. She just agreed and left it at that.
As far as Max Mo was concerned, you could never be too careful when it came to protecting Cici.
“Thank you for your hard work today. Go get some rest,” Max Mo said.
“Yes, Mr. Mo.” Julia Yu nodded and left. As she reached the door, she pulled it open and saw someone stumble in.
The person nearly bumped into Julia Yu before finally steadying herself.
“Miss Li Si, what are you doing?” Julia Yu asked calmly.
“I—I just wanted to see what you were doing in Brother Zixin’s room!” Li Si said, sounding guilty. “Why can you go into Brother Zixin’s room and I can’t?”
Julia Yu didn’t answer, just took a step back, ready to leave.
This was between Max Mo and Li Si—she wouldn’t get involved.
That’s what it means to be a good employee.
Max Mo felt a headache coming on when he saw Li Si. “Why are you here?”
“I secretly followed you here.” Li Si shamelessly moved closer. “Brother Zixin, you haven’t paid any attention to me these days. Did you forget what you promised my dad? You said you’d take care of me! Aren’t you worried I’ll get bullied?”
“No one can bully you at Mo Group,” Max Mo said helplessly. “Alright, I’ll have someone take you home.”
“I’m not going home!” Li Si said stubbornly. “Just take me with you! If you can bring Julia Yu, why can’t you bring me? I’m grown up now, I won’t cause you any trouble!”
Max Mo was about to refuse, but Li Si quickly added in a soft voice, “Brother Zixin, you’re so outstanding and handsome. At the banquet, there’ll be so many women throwing themselves at you. If you take me, I can keep them away! Let me fend off those pesky admirers for you, okay?”
