Spirit Empress 3

"That... that..." The driver stammered, pointing ahead.

The two leaned forward, peering through the gap between the seats—and saw Lily Bai.

She was holding a child, dressed head to toe in red like a ghost, standing in the middle of the road waving at them.

"Damn! She's still not dead!" Shaun Fane cursed. "Just drive straight through! Run her over!"

"Uh..." The driver hesitated, clearly burdened by guilt.

"Do it! If you don't hit the gas, I'll shoot you right now!"

The driver gritted his teeth and slammed on the accelerator.

But strangely, even with the pedal to the metal and the wheels spinning furiously, the car wouldn't budge.

"What's going on? Why isn't the car moving?" The driver was sweating bullets in panic.

Lily Bai approached with a half-smile, stopping at the window and greeting, "Shaun Fane, Ryan Liu, long time no see!"

Ryan Liu was a man of few words and ruthless action—he whipped out his gun and fired at her.

But the gun malfunctioned.

The bullet exploded inside the barrel, shredding his hand into a bloody mess.

"What are you doing?" Lily Bai looked genuinely sympathetic. "I know you guys feel guilty, but there's no need for self-harm, right? I'm actually very kind! You really don't have to do this."

Shaun Fane suddenly jumped out from the other side, running and shouting, "Everyone out! Get over here! Something's happened!"

But no one responded.

In just that short moment, everyone else had vanished without a trace.

...

The convoy was driven up the mountain, a roadblock set up to block passage.

Lily Bai opened the Frost Casket.

The frozen body of Eric Lan appeared before her.

Lily Bai reached out and gently stroked his face. "Little rabbit, from now on, you'll stick with me!"

With a casual wave of her hand, Eric Lan's corpse vanished into her Cosmos Pouch.

Then, she opened up another vehicle.

This one was supposed to contain Xavier Xiao.

But it was empty inside.

Lily Bai was a little surprised.

She went back and interrogated the captured soldiers; they all swore they'd personally loaded both bodies into the vehicles.

None of them knew when one of the corpses disappeared.

Did the corpse just get up and walk away?

...

She notified Peter Lan to come take custody of the prisoners, then carried Eric Lan's corpse to the Demon Sealing Well.

The poor Old Turtle was still being suppressed in Evan Lan's array, barely clinging to life.

Lily Bai stepped onto the edge of the array, looking down at it.

Sensing something, Old Turtle shivered and opened its eyes.

Seeing Lily Bai, it immediately burst into tears: "Spirit Empress, you've finally died and come back! Hurry, save me!"

"I can't break Evan Lan's array either!" Lily Bai replied.

"You just don't want to break it, or you really can't!" Old Turtle protested. "When he sealed me, his power was so weak! Yours is way stronger!"

"I really can't," Lily Bai insisted.

"Then just bring your child over and smash the array—everything will be unsealed."

Lily Bai paused for a moment and said, "You'll have to wait."

"Wait for what?" Old Turtle roared.

"Don't be so hasty!" Lily Bai said. "Look what I brought you."

Old Turtle looked up and saw a dead body.

"Damn, why'd you bring a corpse?"

"Just look at you—your shell's changed color, you're so old and wrinkled you barely look like a turtle anymore. Even if I get you out, you probably won't last long."

"So what?"

"I'm planning to extract your demonic soul and put it in his body. That way, you'll be free!"

"Possession, huh?" Old Turtle glanced at Eric Lan. "I guess that'll work, but he's not exactly a looker."

"Nobody looks good when they're dead," Lily Bai said. "Once you possess him, he'll look just fine."
