Upper and Lower Layers

A glowing mountain—Evan Yang kept searching as he flew, wondering if such a mountain truly existed. After flying for most of the day, he finally found it. The mountain was enormous, as wide as a whole range.

"It's so big—where am I supposed to wait?" Evan wondered, a bit doubtful.

With a mountain this large, Evan was baffled—what was going on here? But there was nothing he could do, so he simply picked the highest point and stood there. Time passed bit by bit: an hour, two hours, almost a whole day.

"Don't tell me it's still not coming?" Evan wondered, feeling confused.

Just then, a faint white cloud descended from the sky and floated in front of Evan. There was nothing on it, but remembering what the green soul had said, Evan stepped onto the cloud.

After a moment, the cloud lifted Evan up and started rising.

"This Death Realm is seriously magical," Evan said, unable to understand it—everything was beyond what he'd imagined.

While on the cloud, Evan released his divine sense and found he couldn't probe above—something seemed to be blocking him.

He kept rising until he reached the top, arriving at another layer—as if the Death Realm had two levels.

Evan found himself in a city, much livelier than before. All kinds of souls were here: red, blue, green—and there were so many green ones, it felt like a whole crowd of City Wardens.

Evan saw two soul guards ahead. When they noticed him, one spoke up, "Are you human? Where did you come from?"

"Where did I come from?" Evan wasn't sure how to answer.

Seeing Evan hesitate, the soul clarified, "I mean, which realm are you from—Human Realm, Immortal Realm, or something else?"

"I'm from the Immortal Realm." Evan knew that all the small worlds were unified as the Human Realm, while the highest world was called the Immortal Realm.

Alongside the Immortal Realm, there were also realms like the Devil Realm and Death Realm.

So Evan simply said he was from the Immortal Realm.

The soul looked at Evan and said, "Immortal Realm, huh? Why are you here? What's your business? If there's nothing important, you'd better leave."

"I came here to look for something. Is there a Seer around?" Evan didn't know who to seek out—there were so many City Wardens, and he wasn't sure if they were reliable. Helpless, he asked anyway.

"A Seer? Are you looking for a Grand Seer?" the soul asked.

"Yeah, Grand Seer—the ones in the upper layer of the Death Realm. The lower layer has Lesser Seers, but even if they know something, anything the Ghost Lord forbids, they still can't say." The soul guard explained politely to Evan.

"Alright, I'll look for a Grand Seer," Evan said.

"Head east—there's a Seer Tower over there, full of Grand Seers. You can check it out, but if you don't have important business, leave the Death Realm quickly," the soul advised.

"Thanks." Evan said gratefully, then left.

Following the soul's directions, Evan went to the tower—which was to the east. The city was huge, much larger than the one below; plus, this second layer had no transparent souls. Everyone here was conscious, and most had cultivated to become souls.

Evan quickly arrived at the Seer Tower. Standing in front of it, he couldn't see inside—something seemed to block his view, just like how the first layer couldn't see the second.

The souls here were only curious about Evan—they didn't pay much attention, as if seeing a human in the Death Realm was perfectly normal.

So Evan made it to his destination without trouble—the Seer Tower. Just as he was about to enter, a soul was thrown out from inside.

Unwilling to give up, the soul got up and shouted, "Let me in! I have questions! I have questions!"

"Questions? Do you even have the right to ask? Go find those things first," said the soul who threw him out.

Evan saw two soul guards stationed at the Seer Tower, blocking entry. Each time the soul tried to go in, they threw him out again.
