Bringing Him Back Is Useless
"Who did he kill?" Tanya Quinn's eyes narrowed.
"He killed... he killed Lord Wynn Drake's son, Shane Wynn," the Palace Guard stammered. "And he injured Second Prince Victor Xiao too!"
"Where is he now?"
"No idea."
Tanya Quinn left them to train on their own and walked off.
Later they heard the story: apparently Second Prince Victor and Shane Wynn had said something disrespectful about Emperor Ray Quinn, and Lord Noctis happened to overhear. He beat Shane Wynn to death on the spot.
Second Prince Victor only survived because he ran fast—otherwise, he’d probably be dead too.
They say Lady Wynn Drake cried in front of the divine hall for a whole day and night, until she fainted from grief.
The Celestial Empress was so desperate over Second Prince Victor’s injuries that she cursed up a storm and wailed to the Celestial Emperor, demanding he capture Lord Noctis and have him executed by a thousand cuts.
......
"This morning at court, the Azure Dragon Lord proposed that all demon beasts are too savage—he suggested locking every last one in the undersea Divine Prison!" Adrian Drake passed along the gossip.
"Did His Majesty the Celestial Emperor agree to that?" Lucy Luan frowned.
"No way he'd issue such a blunt order! He just went along with the Azure Dragon Lord and told him to personally go fetch Lord Noctis—only after questioning him would he make a decision," Adrian said.
"Did the Azure Dragon Lord actually accept that job?" Lucy Luan asked, half-laughing.
"My father said his face turned green on the spot! Like Lord Noctis is someone you can just 'bring back'!" Adrian laughed too. "But with the imperial edict issued, what can he do but accept?"
"What did Shane Wynn and Second Prince Victor actually say to make Lord Noctis so furious?" Ryan Lu asked, puzzled.
Adrian glanced around to make sure no outsiders were listening, then said, "Supposedly, the two of them were standing in front of Emperor Ray Quinn's memorial mound, mouthing off—saying Emperor Ray Quinn was crazy for destroying his kingdom over a witch! They even mocked him for 'thinking with his lower body.'"
"What!" Lucy Luan was so mad she could barely speak. "How dare they say that about our most handsome, most devoted, most adorable Emperor Ray Quinn!"
"Think about it—Lord Noctis was raised by Emperor Ray Quinn himself. If even we react like this, how do you think he felt?" Adrian shook his head.
"I haven’t met Second Prince Victor much, but he never struck me as a good guy," Ryan Lu said. "And what kind of person was Shane Wynn, to dare say something like that?"
"Shane Wynn..." Adrian snorted. "His cultivation is mediocre, but his personality is truly 'outstanding.'"
Luna Lian said, "Why do I get the feeling you’re not actually complimenting him?"
"He’s the only legitimate son of Lord Wynn Drake’s Manor—arrogant, rude, a master of drinking, gambling, and women, plus some special hobbies... He and Second Prince Victor are thick as thieves!" Adrian said. "I bet, with their personalities, even if Lord Noctis caught them, they wouldn’t back down or apologize. They probably cursed him as a 'mouse spirit' or something—just made things worse."
Lucy Luan couldn’t help remembering what she’d seen on the island yesterday.
Yesterday, Lord Noctis had already been provoked into a demonic state by Liam Leshan.
And if Tanya Quinn had argued with him afterward, that would have just poured gasoline on the fire...
"Sigh! Poor Lady Wynn Drake," Adrian sighed again. "Her relationship with Lord Wynn Drake fell apart years ago, and Shane was her only son. Now that he’s dead, she looks like she’s aged thousands of years overnight..."
Ryan Lu sighed too. "What a mess..."
......
The whole scandal raged for over a month.
The Azure Dragon Lord still couldn’t manage to bring Lord Noctis back.
Not that he couldn’t find him—just that even if he did, it wouldn’t matter!
