Evan Lin went upstairs and opened the door. Inside, everything was quiet.
It was still early, so Stella Huang was still asleep, and Evan wasn’t sure if Irene Xu had come back yet.
Back in his room, Evan grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom for a quick shower.
A little after six in the morning, Evan left the apartment. The sky was just getting light. He grabbed a quick breakfast and headed for school.
The drama at school yesterday had already fermented all night long.
The name 'Evan Lin' once again became the hot topic among countless students at Capitalview First High—a true super transfer student.
He stood up to both Director Ben Lu and Senior Year Experimental Class homeroom teacher Henry Wang, and in the end, Principal Damon Deng himself got dragged into the mess. Damon’s final attitude left Ben Lu and Henry Wang utterly humiliated.
In the entire history of Capitalview First High, no student had ever dared go head-to-head with the Director of Academic Affairs before. Evan was the first to ever get the upper hand against Director Ben Lu.
Ben Lu barely slept last night, stewing in frustration. He couldn’t help himself—he even went to probe Principal Damon Deng for his opinion.
After all, Evan only managed to transfer here thanks to the recommendation of Old Man Liu, the math teacher from Brightsea City, and that real estate guy Chen Qiangshan who started a company in Capitalview.
In the end, Ben Lu was cheerfully escorted out of the principal’s office by Damon Deng, without getting any answers at all.
Rumors about Evan Lin flew everywhere among the students. Some even claimed he was a government official’s son. Because of that, plenty of people went to ask Lynn Chen for confirmation, but she kept her mouth shut and refused to answer.
Sometimes, when Lynn Chen got tired of reading or doing homework, she’d look up and stare out the window, dazed, lost in thought about something unknown.
Eric Yu had been keeping a low profile lately, but he still hadn’t given up on Lynn Chen.
Evan arrived at the classroom and ran into Henry Wang, who looked sour-faced. Evan ignored him completely.
As soon as Evan sat down, the students around him started throwing all kinds of complicated looks his way—some were impressed, some curious—but nobody dared to actually strike up a conversation.
During math class, Byron Yang was teaching. He glanced at Evan sitting in the back row, hesitated, then just looked away and pretended not to see him, focusing on his own lecture. Even after class, he didn’t come over to talk to Evan.
Byron Yang and Henry Wang didn’t get along in the office. Normally, Byron would be happy to see Henry lose face to Evan, but deep down he couldn’t enjoy it. Instead, he felt a bit guilty for being unable to rein in Evan, worrying that it might mess up Evan’s college entrance exam results.
The whole day flew by.
Ever since Jason Liu left school, Evan didn’t really have anyone to talk to in class. But for him, school was just a routine—take the college entrance exam soon, get a good score, make Joy Zheng happy, and then this chapter of his life would be over.
After school, Evan walked through the corridor outside the classroom. Tons of students stared curiously at him—among them were plenty of petite, pretty girls, and a few bolder ones came up to chat. They asked the usual stuff: 'Are you Evan Lin from Class 12?', 'Which school did you come from before?', 'Why aren’t you scared of the Director of Academic Affairs?'
Evan answered patiently, keeping his tone mild and relaxed. He never brushed anyone off.
That made a lot of the girls, who’d worried he might be too cold or aloof, breathe a sigh of relief—and get even more excited about him.
In no time, a whole crowd of girls had gathered around Evan, making nearby boys green with envy.
Just then, Wendy Wen and Ivy Liang happened to come down the stairs and saw the whole scene.
'Show-off,' Wendy Wen snorted, seeing Evan surrounded by all those girls.
'He’s only been at school a few months and already caused one mess after another. No wonder he’s so cocky,' Ivy Liang said, not the least bit surprised.
They reached the school gate.
Some of the braver girls started shouting that they wanted to treat Evan to a meal, and others eagerly raised their hands to agree.
They were all super curious about Evan.
