Evans Family Discord

After finalizing the business deal, Leonard Li lingered at Lily Evans' house for dinner, clearly reluctant to leave. Before heading out, he made sure to tell Lily, "If you need anything, come find me at Lawrence Manor on the east side of Greenfield City. Just ask for me." He knew she might need help with land for mushroom houses, so he left the invitation open.

With the contract signed, Lily Evans felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. What if Leonard Li started doubting her ability to deliver? She knew the stakes were high—if she couldn't get enough land for mushroom houses, her promise would fall flat and the whole business could collapse.

Buying land had to go through the village chief, so Lily Evans prepared some gifts and went to his house to explain her intentions.

The Su family had been struggling lately, all because of Su Meixiang's scandal. The atmosphere at home was tense, and even the village chief, puffing on his pipe, remarked, "Lily, I know you're capable, but land is a farmer's lifeblood. There's no extra land for you."

Lily Evans hadn't expected this setback and silently berated herself for missing such an obvious issue. Land wasn't just something you could buy on a whim. Disappointed, she told the village chief, "Please keep an eye out for me. If any land goes up for sale—dry fields or fertile—I want it. Just let me know."

The village chief accepted Lily's gifts and replied with polite warmth, "Alright, Lily, I'll keep an eye out. If any land becomes available, you'll be the first to know."

Lily trudged back home, her spirits low. She'd finally landed a contract with Leonard Li, but if she couldn't grow enough mushrooms, all her hard work would be wasted. The pressure weighed on her, and she couldn't help but worry.

If push came to shove, Lily thought, she could always convert the house she bought at Ten Mile Slope into mushroom rooms. But the idea of losing money on the property made her wince—she'd much rather find new land.

Just then, Uncle Arthur chimed in, "Lily, if you're in a bind, talk to Leonard Li. You two are partners now, in the same boat. He's got connections in Greenfield City—maybe he can help you sort out the land issue."

Lily Evans' eyes lit up—of course! Why suffer alone when she had a powerful partner? If there was ever a time to lean on someone, this was it. No need to tough it out by herself!

Meanwhile, the Evans family was in chaos. Grandma Evans was on a rampage, and the old manor was echoing with her shouts. "What do you mean you won't move back? This new house is Evans property! You think you can just take it for yourselves?"

Mrs. Charlotte Evans, never one to back down, snapped back, "Mother, we've put our sweat and savings into this home. If you want the new house, then return what you owe us!"

The matchmaker, Mrs. Sun, couldn't resist stirring the pot. She fanned herself and crowed, "Oh, the Evans family drama never ends! Maybe you should just split up for good—less trouble for everyone!"

Mrs. Sun's words set Grandma Evans off. She grabbed her cane and shouted, "You meddling old bat! Stay out of our family business before I chase you out myself!"

Mrs. Charlotte Evans rolled her eyes, "Mother, you always say it's about the family, but it's really about control. We're done being bullied. If you want the new house, pay up!"

Uncle Arthur stepped in, his voice calm but firm, "Mother, we've tolerated enough. If you keep making trouble, we'll cut ties for good. We won't let you take advantage of us anymore."

Grandma Evans, never one to lose a fight, shouted, "Fine! If you want to split, then split! But don't come crawling back when you regret it!"

Mrs. Sun, always eager for gossip, whispered to the matchmaker beside her, "Well, that's the Evans family for you—never a dull moment!"

The villagers gathered outside, whispering and craning their necks to catch every word. The Evans family feud was the best entertainment they'd had in weeks.

Lily Evans watched the chaos unfold, shaking her head. "Honestly," she muttered to Leonard Li, "if the Evans family ever finds peace, the whole village will faint from shock."

Leonard Li grinned, "Well, at least your family's never boring. Now, about those mushrooms—let's make sure your business is even more exciting than your relatives!"
