Your Brother Isn’t Here Yet You Still Dare Act Arrogant
Brian Guang's voice boomed across the crowd.
With Zack Guang present, he felt completely confident—there was nothing to fear.
Now, spotting Evan Lin walking over, Brian's face lit up. This meant he finally had a chance to 'get his face back.'
As soon as he spoke, everyone who had been watching the depths of the forest—where Zack Guang had disappeared—turned their attention over.
Some people in the crowd recognized Evan Lin as he walked over. Their expressions changed, but none of them dared make a sound.
Bob Moore and the others also turned their heads to look.
"It's him?"
Martin Mu and Victor Moore narrowed their eyes at the sight of the newcomer, blurting out instinctively.
Beside them, Melissa Mu's pretty face froze. She lifted her head and looked over, and when she saw Evan Lin, her heart skipped several beats.
The person she'd been hoping for all this time had finally come.
"Who is he?" Bob Moore noticed Martin Mu's odd expression and asked, sizing Evan Lin up as he spoke.
"He’s the one who defeated the Southriver Sword Sect prodigy Zack Zhao yesterday and broke the Misty Rain Sword. He’s also the guy Su brought to the appraisal event before—the one who crippled Swordmaster Cui’s cultivation."
Martin Mu quietly explained to Bob Moore.
Hearing this, Bob Moore's expression grew serious and he nodded slightly.
He’d broken the Misty Rain Sword, defeated Zack Zhao, and at the appraisal event, Su’s guest had even destroyed Swordmaster Cui’s cultivation!
No matter how you looked at it, he was not someone to mess with.
Bob Moore weighed his thoughts, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes, but he didn’t speak immediately.
"It's him!"
Warren Wang and Bella Xiao stood together, a little uneasy. They worried that Warren’s brother, Warren Jin, might get hurt in the forest—after all, his goal was just to compete, not to win Melissa Mu or the Moore Family Sword.
Warren was even considering telling his brother to quit, but just then, he spotted Evan Lin approaching and froze, eyes wide, blurting out in surprise.
Bella Xiao's face was half hidden by her dark hair, which fell over her cheek. She adjusted her cap and, at the moment she saw Evan Lin appear, her pretty face froze for a second—she hadn't expected to run into him here.
"Bro, you know him?"
Warren Wang sniffed, frowned, and gave Evan Lin a few sizing glances, his face full of disdain.
No matter how he looked, the kid in front of him seemed as thin as paper, and Warren couldn't sense any powerful aura from him at all.
"Last time we went to Oxhorn Village in Jinnan Mountain, if it weren't for him, we'd have been stuck there for good." Warren's older brother nodded, his face still tinged with a bit of awe.
That day, the kid casually drew a full bow—his strength was off the charts. But what was even scarier was how calm he stayed the whole time, not a ripple in his mood. That kind of composure? Not something you see every day.
"Oh, so it's him. If I get the chance, I'd like to fight him." Warren Wang nodded, totally unfazed.
The group kept their voices low, quietly discussing among themselves.
But Brian Guang, spotting Evan Lin, got so worked up he marched straight over. He strode up to Evan, face full of contempt: "Wow, impressive, kid. Where'd you disappear to yesterday? I searched for you forever, you know that?"
"Dare to scam my money? You must have a death wish! Honestly, I was worried you'd run off, but not bad, since you showed up on your own, I'll make sure you learn your lesson soon enough!"
Brian Guang let out a cocky laugh, looking downright smug.
"You better hurry up and apologize to Brother Guangyu, or else when Brother Zhengping comes out, he'll beat you half to death." The girl next to Brian—May Xia—looked at Evan and spoke up.
She glanced at Evan and immediately thought of Lewis Lu, her face showing a hint of dissatisfaction.
Now that May Xia had chosen to side with Brian Guang, she didn't bother hiding her contempt for Evan anymore: "You used to bluff, booking that presidential suite and acting like a big shot. How many months of your paycheck did that cost you? Still trying to act rich in front of us? You should really check your wallet before showing off."
"Bro, seriously, you're gutsy but clueless. Guang was even thinking about sending people to drag you here, but you came running on your own and saved us the trouble. Haha, did you see Guang's heroics in the arena yesterday? Are you so scared you came here just to beg for mercy?" Victor Xu stepped up, spraying insults nonstop.
Lily Zhou rolled her eyes: "Too late to beg now. When the time comes, if you're getting beaten, just yell extra loud—maybe Guang will go easy on you and hit you a couple times less."
They kept piling on, their voices loud enough for everyone to hear.
All this landed in the ears of the onlookers who didn't know Evan's background. They looked at him with a mix of pity and ridicule.
"Provoking Zack Guang's cousin? Isn't that just asking for trouble?"
"Still not running away at this point? This kid must be out of his mind!"
"Haha, he probably came here just to watch the show, but now he's the one getting dragged out and beaten. Going against the Guang family is just asking for trouble."
A bunch of people looked over at Evan Lin, shaking their heads.
But the handful who saw the kid crush Zack Zhao on the South Arena yesterday kept their mouths shut, just watching Brian with that 'let's see the drama' look.
Anyone who could go toe-to-toe with Zack Zhao could definitely take on Zack Guang, and honestly, the smart money was on that kid.
"Why so quiet now? Chickening out? Weren't you all cocky before?" Brian Guang sneered, thinking Evan was scared.
"Where's your brother? Tell him to come out and fight me."
Evan Lin looked calm, hands in his pockets, staring at Brian Guang, his voice quiet.
"My brother... uh..." Brian started to answer reflexively.
Brian instinctively started to reply, then suddenly realized Zack Guang had just gone into the forest!
His face changed, then he snorted: "My brother just went into the woods to get the sword. He'll be out soon. If you've got guts, wait here!"
"So your brother's not here right now?" Evan yawned, looking bored.
"Can't you understand plain English? I said my brother will be out soon—" Brian Guang shouted angrily, but before he could finish, Evan finished his yawn, lifted his foot, and kicked Brian in the waist.
Brian doubled over from the kick, and Evan followed up, stomping him face-first into the dirt.
Evan pinned Brian's head under his foot. Brian was covered in dust, groaning in pain, trying to get up but couldn't move at all.
Victor Xu and the others turned pale at the sight.
May Xia and Lily Zhou shrieked and stumbled back in fright. Victor Xu tried to rush forward, but Evan casually slapped him aside, knocking him out cold.
"Your brother's not here, and you still dare to bark in front of me?" Evan looked down at Brian, who was sprawled like a dead dog under his foot, and said coolly: "You sure like to run your mouth. Even if your brother were here, I'd handle him with a single slap."
