Chapter 847: That's Not What I Meant

Daryl's face instantly turned pale. What had he just done? How could he dare speak to Seer Droy like that? If the King found out, he'd be lucky to escape with his life.

Seer Droy had devoted his life to the Caucasus. Even the current King of the Caucasus was taught by him as a child. Among the Caucasus Battlemages, half of the top warriors had been his disciples. Though he held little formal power, his status was anything but low.

It only seemed like he lacked influence—Seer Droy had always kept to his duties, never seeking authority. Plenty in the Caucasus Highlands disagreed with his views, but everyone knew he did everything for the good of the Caucasus.

Anyone who dared question Seer Droy's loyalty—especially those siding with the Auckland mages—would be drowned out by the scorn of every Caucasus Battlemage, without the King even needing to speak.

Daryl was proud, but even he realized he'd just done something stupid. Kempes, standing beside him, looked at him with the horror reserved for seeing a god or demon.

"Seer Droy, I... I didn't mean it. That wasn't what I intended..."

Daryl panicked, stammering out an explanation, but no matter how he tried, he couldn't make himself clear.

Seer Droy waved his hand at Daryl, his gaze still deep and serene.

"You don't understand, Daryl. Step back for now."

Daryl didn't dare say a word. He stood off to the side like a well-behaved grandson, not uttering a single sound.

Leon couldn't figure out what Seer Droy was up to. He'd arrived with Daryl, but stood there like an outsider, silent. Now, suddenly, he'd stepped in to break up the fierce fight. If anyone thought Droy was siding with him, Leon himself wouldn't believe it.

Seer Droy had a good reputation and favored peaceful coexistence, but his motives were always for the Caucasus. Everything he did was for the benefit of the Caucasus. Earlier, he'd let Daryl attack without a word, which showed that this famous Caucasus Seer was no soft-hearted saint to all mages.

Now he kept interrupting the fight, even putting on a stance that he didn't want it to continue. What was he after?

Just as Leon was puzzling over it, Seer Droy's calm expression suddenly showed a hint of excitement.

"May I ask, how do you have the King's Chapter in your possession?"

Leon was both confused and surprised. He vaguely thought Droy was talking about his magic artifact, but wasn't sure what he meant.

"King's Chapter? Are you talking about the Elemental Chapter?"

A page of the Death Tome in Leon's hand glowed with four colors, and in that instant, Seer Droy could barely contain his excitement.

"That's it—the King's Chapter! How do you have the King's Chapter? Only the true heir of His Majesty Jason Vagran, the greatest King of the Caucasus, can possess it. Are you... are you his heir?"
