Strange Flower

The Old Beggar frowned. "This isn't according to the rules. Why is he supposed to compete against the Saint Hand's Junior Brother?"

"None of your business. I'm just asking if he has the guts to compete." Elder Cole sneered.

The Old Beggar sent a voice transmission: "The Saint Hand's Junior Brother is not simple. Don't compete with him. He was definitely sent by the Saint Hand to deal with you."

Evan Yang hadn't expected the Sacred Mountain people to mark him as an enemy so quickly. What he didn't realize was that Sacred Mountain had lost face three times, and all because of him. They were used to dominating the pill-refining world, with no one daring to provoke them. So, no matter what, Evan was already on their blacklist.

"I'm not competing." Evan Yang wasn't afraid of the opponent, but just because the Saint Hand wanted to make a move, did he have to accept? So he refused decisively.

"Coward." Logan Cole sneered from the side.

Elder Cole also laughed. "Kid, looks like you're pretty timid."

"If I were timid, I wouldn't have frozen him, and I wouldn't have beaten you guys." Evan Yang sneered.

"You—" Elder Cole and Logan Cole hadn't expected Evan Yang to mock them like this.

"Don't look at me like that." Evan Yang laughed.

"Our Sacred Mountain said it: as long as you can win, we'll grant you an Immortal pill recipe and some precious herbs." Elder Cole hadn't intended to reveal this to Evan Yang, but seeing Evan refuse to compete, he had no choice but to say it.

Evan Yang hadn't expected Sacred Mountain to spend so much just to deal with him. But in their eyes, he was sure to lose.

But thinking about that Immortal pill recipe and precious herbs, Evan Yang was tempted. "Is that really true?"

"Don't listen to them," the Old Beggar said. He knew that no matter how good the conditions were, if you couldn't win, it was all empty talk. So he didn't want Evan Yang to repeat others' mistakes.

"I said it's none of your business." Elder Cole snorted and kicked the Old Beggar flying. It wasn't that the Old Beggar was weaker, but he simply didn't fight back.

Seeing this, Evan Yang hurried over to help the Old Beggar up. "What do you mean by that!"

Seeing Evan Yang so concerned for the Old Beggar, Elder Cole suddenly thought of another trick. "Listen up, kid. If you don't compete, we'll cripple him."

"What!" Evan Yang was shocked—this crossed his bottom line.

Seeing even someone as strong as Logan Cole about to attack the Old Beggar, Evan Yang spoke up, "Fine, I'll compete!"

"Haha, good, the day after tomorrow!" Elder Cole laughed loudly when he saw Evan Yang agree, then left with Logan Cole.

"Despicable." The Old Beggar said angrily, even letting his aura flare.

Seeing the Old Beggar get angry, Elder Cole turned and exclaimed, "You dare make a move?"

The Old Beggar suppressed his anger and said, "Someday."

"That day will never come. The alchemy world will always belong to us adults." Elder Cole replied, then quickly left with Logan Cole. To be honest, he was worried that if the Old Beggar ever exploded and didn't care about his own life, he'd be in trouble.

"Senior, are you alright?" Evan Yang sighed.

"Why did you agree to it?" The Old Beggar said helplessly.

"No matter what, I can't just stand by and watch them treat you like this." Evan Yang said.

"They wouldn't really cripple me. Otherwise, they would've done it long ago. They're just afraid I'd go all out and attack them, risking my life." The Old Beggar had been followed by Elder Cole for years and knew his character well. Otherwise, Elder Cole would have had plenty of chances to cripple him.

"Either way, I've agreed. I also want to see how strong that Saint Hand's Junior Brother really is." Evan Yang replied.

The Old Beggar looked at Evan Yang helplessly. "I advise you to leave the Human World as soon as possible."

"Senior, don't say that. I won't be a deserter." Evan Yang laughed. He knew well that while the Old Beggar wouldn't be seriously injured, he'd definitely be humiliated, so Evan couldn't leave.

"You're too kind-hearted." The Old Beggar sighed.

"Alright, Senior, tell me about the Saint Hand's Junior Brother." Evan Yang laughed.

"The Saint Hand and his junior brother were both trained by that person. The Saint Hand manages the Sacred Mountain, while his junior brother acts as the enforcer—he's sent out specifically to duel others in pill-refining. If you lose, you must follow Sacred Mountain; if you win, you get a reward, but no one has ever won. I wanted to make a move, but they wouldn't let me." The Old Beggar smiled helplessly.

"No one has ever won?" Evan Yang hadn't expected the Human World's alchemy world to be so tightly controlled, with no room for growth.

"That's right." The Old Beggar said with a bitter smile.

"Then I'll put an end to him." Evan Yang laughed.

"You—I admit you're impressive, but..." The Old Beggar had seen many people weakened one by one, becoming losers to the Sacred Mountain and being suppressed, so he didn't believe Evan Yang could win.

"Don't worry, Senior, I'll figure something out." Evan Yang laughed.

"Kid, how come you're as confident as he is?" Seeing Evan Yang, the Old Beggar thought of the Evan Yang in his memories.

"Heh." Evan Yang almost wanted to say he was that person, but he held back and laughed, "What kind of pill do they usually compete with?"

"Pseudo-Immortal pills, similar to what you competed with today. They're all a kind of pseudo-Immortal pill, but the difference is he usually refines more—about seven per batch. That's why no one has beaten him yet." The Old Beggar sighed.

"Seven pills, huh? That's fine." Evan Yang laughed.

"You..." The Old Beggar didn't know how to describe Evan Yang. Nothing seems to faze him. If he told others, the entire Sacred Mountain would be shocked and probably laugh at Evan Yang.

"Alright, Senior, don't worry. I'll show you the results of my pill-refining over the years." Evan Yang laughed. He actually wanted to tell him that he was already qualified as a pill master. Although he never called the Old Beggar 'master,' in Evan's eyes, that's what he was.

Not knowing Evan Yang's thoughts, the Old Beggar gave a bitter smile. "Then good luck to you."

After telling Evan Yang some pill-refining details, the Old Beggar left. Evan Yang prepared to head back, but as he passed a certain spot near Sacred Mountain, his Ice‑fire Sacred Flame stirred, stronger than the night before.

"Strange, what's up there?" Evan Yang wondered.
