A Private Matter

Qian Miaomiao had never suffered such humiliation in her life. Her face turned pale, then red, then blue. Unable to care about anything else, she gritted her teeth, spun around, and dashed off, desperate to escape the place that had shamed her so thoroughly.

Qiántáng watched his granddaughter run off, feeling furious himself. He glared at Su Li and said indignantly, "This marquis will take his leave first!"

Su Li watched the Qian family grandfather and granddaughter with a beaming smile, feeling quite pleased. Turning to Ye Nanfeng, she said, "Lord Ye, you’ve all worked hard. Go home and get a good rest."

"Hehe, this is the first big thing I’ve done since coming to Qin, so of course I had to do it well. It’s a good start!" Ye Nanfeng, looking spirited, said to Su Li, "Minister Su, I have a small request."

"Oh? What request?" Su Li raised an eyebrow at Ye Nanfeng, noticing his bashful demeanor, as if he had something he couldn’t say aloud.

"Well, I’m not feeling quite myself. I wonder if I might have the honor to see Divine Doctor Lin?" Ye Nanfeng said.

Su Li sized up Ye Nanfeng. Other than some dark circles from staying up late, he looked healthy and robust. Was he seeking Divine Doctor Lin for some secret ailment?

But since Ye Nanfeng clearly didn’t want to tell her, Su Li sensibly didn’t press. She said, "Unfortunately, my father took Siyu up the nearby mountain to gather herbs. They won’t be back for two or three days. If you’re in a hurry, why not let my younger brother Lin Xiaowu have a look? Xiaowu has inherited my father’s skills—his medical expertise is excellent."

Ye Nanfeng nodded vigorously. "Great, great! Since he’s Divine Doctor Lin’s son, his skills must be good. Then I’ll trouble Minister Su to introduce me to Young Master Lin Xiaowu."

At that moment, Lin Xiaowu was buried in translation work at the library.

Princess Jade Hayes personally led Nathan Ye to find Quentin Lin, dragging him out from the sea of books.

"Quentin, this is Minister of Public Works, Minister Ye. He has something to discuss with you," Princess Jade Hayes introduced.

Nathan Ye saw Quentin Lin and his face turned a little green. "Wait, he's just a kid... so young, can he really treat patients?"

He had expected at least a teenager!

Quentin Lin was clearly displeased by this comment. He glanced at Nathan Ye, "So what if I'm young? As long as my medical skills are good, that's all that matters. You'd better not underestimate me!"

Nathan Ye realized his mistake and quickly apologized to Quentin Lin.

Quentin Lin snorted, "What does Minister Ye need from me?"

Nathan Ye's gaze flickered, "Master Lin, perhaps we could speak privately?"

He clearly wanted to avoid Princess Jade Hayes and the others.

Princess Jade Hayes touched her nose and smiled, "I'll go check on the other students' translation progress in the library. You two chat."
