Linda Guan looked at Lynn Chen and nodded slightly. "Ms. Ling and Miss Fang always bring you up—they really miss you."
After finishing, Linda Guan shifted her gaze back to Evan Lin. "Ms. Ling has mentioned you too, and she gave you high praise. She said if this were an age of chaos, you'd be a warlord—someone who can make a bunch of rough men follow your every word, all at your age. That's pretty impressive."
Too bad—it's the twenty-first century now. This is an era of brains and business.
Linda Guan's words carried a hidden meaning as she glanced at Evan Lin, her eyes flickering.
Quentin Yu was stunned when he heard her words.
Lucy Lu and Charles Chen also looked confused, glancing at Evan Lin.
Lynn Chen's expression also turned a bit strange.
Everyone's eyes fell on Evan Lin.
Last time Ms. Ling was surrounded, it was Big Tank who happened to show up. He and his crew jumped out of the car, beat up everyone blocking her, and then respectfully called Evan Lin 'Master.'
That scene has stuck in Ms. Ling's mind ever since—it's exactly what Linda Guan was referring to.
But aside from Linda Guan, no one else present really understood what she meant.
"I wouldn't say he just follows orders," Charles Chen muttered quietly, thinking Linda Guan was talking about Chairman Wang—he thought she meant Wayne Wang was the one who listened to Evan Lin.
To Charles Chen, that sounded pretty ridiculous.
Evan Lin looked at Linda Guan and smiled. "Last time I said Ms. Ling would definitely remember my name. Turns out I was right—after all this time, she still can't forget me?"
Can't forget me.
When those four words came out of Evan Lin's mouth, everyone around him had some odd thoughts.
Everyone looked at Evan Lin, wondering if there was something deeper going on between him and Ms. Ling.
Ms. Ling may not be young, but she takes good care of herself. If she told people she was still in her twenties, plenty would believe her.
"What nonsense! Ms. Ling couldn't possibly still be hung up on you!"
Linda Guan's expression changed—she finally lost her composure and looked a little flustered.
"If she could forget what I told her, you wouldn't be here. Has Ms. Ling been in Oceanport City so long she really thinks that guy Fang Qiuji is all-powerful?" Evan Lin scoffed and shook his head. "No need to get so worked up. I've got no interest in older women like Ms. Ling."
Evan Lin's words were tinged with sarcasm. As soon as he finished, Lucy Lu and Charles Chen both let out a sigh of relief.
Lynn Chen couldn't help rolling her eyes at Evan Lin, though she felt relieved. She glanced at the overbearing Linda Guan, savoring how just a few words from Evan had knocked her off balance—it felt good to see her put in her place.
Sharp tongue.
Linda Guan took a deep breath and quickly regained her composure. She fixed Evan Lin with a cold stare. "I came to Capitalview for one reason: I hope you'll transfer back to Minghai City and promise never to set foot in Oceanport City again."
"That's Ms. Ling's condition. If you agree, she'll make sure you're well taken care of."
Linda Guan felt more and more that Evan Lin was impossible to read, so she decided to just lay it all out.
"Why make him transfer back to Minghai City? Evan Lin is a senior now—there are only a few months left before the college entrance exam. Transferring at this point would be a huge disruption."
Lynn Chen's face grew anxious. "Besides, Aunt Ling isn't usually so unreasonable. And why shouldn't Evan Lin go to Oceanport City?"
"Ms. Ling has her own reasons," Quentin Yu said, noticing Lynn Chen's agitation. He immediately shot a look at Eric Yu, who was standing nearby.
