Raindrops pattered down as I sat in the car. I didn’t know why, but I wanted to move slowly, to take in the city’s splendor for a moment.
Black Moon drove—a business van provided by Redhair, with seven seats. Only Isabelle Frost and Deathcurse came along. Both seemed intrigued by the formations described at that dark banquet, and by the Heartfruit as well.
“It was the Earthly Soul who found it—the signpost.”
Deathcurse muttered this, and Black Moon burst out laughing.
“His intentions are suspect, BOSS.”
I glanced at Black Moon. Inside, I felt nothing, but my mind was filled with disgust—for what the Earthly Soul had done. Why did he have to hand the Blood Jade over to those Immortality Society bastards?
"This time, you’re the only one entering the Four Saints Domain. Be careful, Ethan Zhang."
Isabelle Frost suddenly said this. I turned and looked at her, suspicion in my eyes.
Suddenly, Black Moon slammed on the brakes. With a screech, cars driving through the heavy rain collided one after another, a chain-reaction pileup. For us, it meant nothing.
Chaos erupted instantly—cries and shouts everywhere. Luckily, the cars were moving slowly, so no one died. Only a red sedan, about ten meters from us, crashed into a streetlamp; the driver seemed to die on the spot.
