Cindy Zhu had no idea what her mother was so angry about. Furious and hurt, she shouted, "You're not my real mother! You're Chloe Zhu's mother, aren't you? Ever since I was little, you always took care of her, protected her! Who is really your daughter?"

"Enough!" Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu said sternly, her face dark. She stared at Cindy with deep displeasure. "Kneel!"

"Why should I kneel? I didn't do anything wrong!" Cindy Zhu seemed totally unhinged lately, even daring to talk back to the Dowager Lady.

Grace guessed her father would be angry.

"Bribed Jane Jing?" Cindy Zhu looked totally lost. "Some thief must've stolen these jewelry pieces! I didn't even know anything was missing!"

"Th-this..." Jane Jing was confused too. It took her a long moment to respond, trembling as she spoke, "Dowager Lady, these aren't the jewelry the eldest miss gave me before! Someone swapped them!"
