Stone Statue

2/14/2026

Evan Yang finally saw that the ground beneath his feet was actually suspended in midair—in other words, all these stones were floating at a certain distance above the real ground.

But Evan Yang couldn't figure out why, if the stones were suspended like this, some would disappear every day and new ones would be absorbed from above.

This had always been a puzzle in Evan Yang's mind. Just then, a suction force pulled Evan and the lowest stones downward.

Evan was startled and tried to break free, but couldn't. He was swept along with the stones, sucked into some unknown place, everything spinning into darkness.

Before Evan could regain his senses, it felt as if he had crashed into something.

Boom! With a thunderous crash, before he could even steady himself, he rolled across the ground and was pulled aside by the same force. When he saw what lay ahead, he froze—right in front of him was a stone statue, a massive dragon. The dragon's mouth was devouring chunks of stone.

Each time it swallowed a stone, the statue would emit a burst of light. When there were no more stones, its gaze locked onto Evan Yang, as if sensing something.

Evan Yang had only read about dragons in ancient texts—always mysterious creatures. In the Immortal Realm, dragons appeared every so often. He had always wondered if he might actually see one someday.

Now, seeing a stone statue and hearing this voice, he blurted out in shock, "Are you alive?"

"Alive? You could say that, and you could also say not," the Stone Dragon replied.

"Then why are you like this?" Evan Yang asked suspiciously.

"Of course, it's because I'm sealed. I never expected to meet a human while sealed," the Stone Dragon said, laughing.

"What's going on here? Why are there stone statues everywhere?" Evan had seen the Eagle-Idol God statue before, and now this Stone Dragon statue. From the dragon's words, it seemed to be sealed as well.

"Oh? You've seen other statues?" The Stone Dragon asked, curious.

"Yeah, that's right," Evan Yang nodded.

"Which one?" the Stone Dragon asked, intrigued. So Evan told it about the Eagle-Idol God.

After hearing Evan's story, the Stone Dragon laughed, "So it was that guy—no wonder. But he's pretty stingy. I can't believe he actually passed you his strongest movement art."

Evan Yang didn't know what to say, but he was curious. "So you all are...?"

"You don't need to know right now. When your strength reaches the peak of humanity—what you call Immortal Sovereign—you'll naturally learn some of the secrets hidden across the realms," the Stone Dragon said.

"What secrets?" Evan Yang was instantly intrigued by the mention of secrets. He hadn't questioned the Eagle-Idol God in detail before, but now, hearing the Stone Dragon say this, he was even more curious.

"When the time comes, you'll understand. But I need your help," the Stone Dragon said.

"What kind of help?" Evan Yang asked, curious.

"There's a Little Yellow Dragon in the Immortal Realm. It's my friend, but it's trapped somewhere. If you ever meet it, just tell it about me," the Stone Dragon said.

"Little Yellow Dragon? Where can I find it?" Evan Yang asked, confused.

"I hear that every so often in the Immortal Realm, it appears to cleanse the realm's turbid qi. When that happens, you'll see it," the Stone Dragon said.

"Cleansing the Immortal Realm's turbid qi? What's that? And how can I prove it's the one I'm looking for? How can I be sure it'll listen to me?" Evan Yang asked, curious.

"You'll understand about turbid qi later. I can't explain now. When you see it, just shout 'Little Yellow Dragon' loudly. It'll respond, then you tell it about me. If it doesn't believe you, tell it..." The Stone Dragon slowly transmitted the rest of the message directly into Evan's mind.

After hearing it, Evan Yang was stunned. This Stone Dragon was really something else, but he accepted the task anyway.

Seeing Evan Yang agree, the Stone Dragon said, "I'll send you out now."

Before Evan Yang could react, his vision went dark. When he reappeared, he was outside the Immortal Array. The distance was astonishing, but it confirmed the Stone Dragon's power—even sealed, it could do such things.

Evan was deeply impressed. Only after regaining his composure did he release Richard, Lora Luo, and White Snow.

When they saw the scenery outside, they realized they were out and started questioning Evan. Just as he was about to mention the Stone Dragon, a majestic voice echoed in his mind: "This must not be told to others. Remember!"

"Damn, it can sense that too?" Evan cursed inwardly upon hearing the familiar voice, but quickly came up with a story, saying he'd left through a tunnel.

After hearing Evan's explanation, everyone was amazed. But overall, things had gone smoothly, and they planned to leave, retracing their path.

A short while later, something happened ahead—a group of Snowbuns was running.

Everyone frowned, curious about what was going on.

Evan Yang also noticed that behind the fleeing Snowbuns, a group of snow eagles was in pursuit.

Just as Evan was searching around, a voice called out, "Benefactor, help!"

It was the Snowbun Evan had rescued before. He saw her running toward him, followed by other Snowbuns.

When the Snowbun reached Evan Yang, he picked her up and asked, "What happened?"

"I returned to my companions, but soon a flock of snow eagles started chasing us. Now, the strong demons in our tribe are fighting powerful eagle demons," the Snowbun said.

A battle? Evan immediately thought of the mature snow eagles and the mature Jade Rabbits—Snowbuns were clearly at a disadvantage, making the situation dangerous.

The Snowbun continued, "Please, save our kin!"

Evan Yang said, "Take us there."

The Snowbun was overjoyed and led Evan. Bianca Snow, being a demon herself, naturally understood the Snowbun's words and, as a companion, wanted to help too.

Richard understood as well—after all, Bianca Snow was once a rabbit too, so seeing her kin naturally stirred compassion.

So Richard and Bianca Snow went along, and Lora Luo naturally followed. The other Snowbuns tagged along as well. As for the immature snow eagles flying overhead, Evan and his companions chased them off one by one, finally rescuing the Snowbuns.

They soon arrived at another forest, filled with nests. Evan realized this was the Snowbuns' home. At that moment, several pairs of demons were locked in battle. The Snowbun tribe was severely wounded, mocked by the eagle demons as if they were prey.

The lead snow eagle sneered, "Your tribe should disappear already."

"Despicable! As the chieftain, I won't let you succeed!" a Snowbun demon spat back.

"What power do you have left? That so-called array of yours protected you for ages, but if we hadn't broken it together this time, you wouldn't even know how strong it was!" the snow eagle snorted.

The Snowbun, furious, coughed up blood. The other Snowbuns were shocked, while the snow eagles rejoiced. One snow eagle said, "Let me send you on your way."

He raised his fist, about to strike the Snowbun's forehead, when a figure suddenly appeared among them.

Boom! That figure instantly became the center of attention, and everyone was stunned.

The Snowbun tribe didn't know Evan Yang and looked at the human suspiciously. The snow eagles assumed Evan was their ally, so the leader shouted angrily, "Who are you?"

"I'm here to persuade you to give up killing," Evan Yang said.

"Ha! Who do you think you are? Watch how I deal with you!" a snow eagle roared, launching into a battle with Evan.

Evan Yang's speed was on par with the snow eagle's, which enraged it. The snow eagle shifted into its true form, its speed increasing noticeably.

Seeing this, Evan Yang increased his speed even more. In no time, he sent the snow eagle he was fighting flying.

When one snow eagle was knocked out, the others rushed in together. Evan shouted, "What are you all waiting for?"

Richard, Bianca Snow, and Lora Luo smiled and joined the fight. In moments, they defeated the remaining three snow eagles, leaving them seriously injured. But Evan said, "Spare their lives."

The lead snow eagle, wounded, snarled, "Don't think we'll thank you for sparing us. Just wait!"

"I'm only sparing you for the Eagle-Idol God's sake. Otherwise, I could kill you right now," Evan Yang said.

"Eagle-Idol God?" The four snow eagles were stunned. They knew the Eagle-Idol God's importance, but were curious how Evan Yang knew about it.

"Enough, get lost. If I get angry later, you're done for," Evan Yang said.

The snow eagles left angrily and confused. The remaining Snowbuns looked at Evan Yang curiously, until he said to the chieftain, "They're gone, but this place isn't safe for now. You should relocate."

The chieftain turned and said, "Thank you all. May I ask who you are?"

"Chieftain, I brought them," said the Snowbun Evan Yang had rescued earlier.

The clan chief knew this Snowbun had only recently returned and hadn't had a chance to talk with her in detail before today's events unfolded. Learning she was the one who brought them here, he relaxed and said, "Thank you, truly, for all you've done."

"You're welcome. If there's nothing else, we'll take our leave now," Evan Yang replied, then smiled at the Snowbun, "We're heading out now."

The Snowbun looked reluctant to part, but her gratitude was clear. If Evan and his companions hadn't appeared, her tribe might have been wiped out—worse than anything she'd suffered before.

"Wait a moment," the clan chief said after thinking it over. "Since you saved us, we can't let you leave empty-handed. Please, follow me."

Evan, Richard, Bianca, and Lora exchanged puzzled glances, unsure what the chief meant. Despite his injuries, the clan chief stood and led them to a nearby cave, while the other Snowbuns stayed outside to regroup and prepare for evacuation.

"Wait outside for now. I'll bring them in," the chief instructed the mature Snowbuns.

All the Snowbuns knew Evan and his group were their saviors. Without them, their tribe would have been doomed, and whatever treasures lay in the cave would have been meaningless. So none objected to the chief inviting them in.
