Dragon Elephant Has Extraction Method, Insight Technique Has One Too
After three breaths, all the water mist was absorbed by Jack Young. The beam of light faded, and the symbol on the Magician’s forehead dimmed to nothing. He kept that look of utter agony, but his eyes were totally lifeless—like a puppet stripped of all intelligence. He was still breathing, but his spirit was dead.
Bang! Jack let go, and the Magician crashed to the ground, not even managing a basic breakfall. He was completely done for.
At the same time, Jill Young’s eyes twitched, like she’d just broken free from some invisible shackles and snapped back to full awareness. She rubbed her eyes, dazed for a second, then clutched her head and exclaimed, “Whoa, why do I feel like... my mental strength just got a tiny bit stronger?” Jill glanced at the Magician, now basically a vegetable, then kept staring at Jack, feeling like something about him had changed.
“Come on, let me see what actually happened.” She gripped her left hand with her right, golden patterns flashed, and their minds linked up. Jill saw everything that had just gone down.
She saw Jack’s mental domain, and when Yuri Alpha’s forehead light hit Jack’s brow, a mysterious symbol appeared on the surface of Jack’s spiritual field. It was like someone opened a window—countless colorful streams of psychic energy poured in, rushing straight for Jack’s mental sea.
Jill instantly got it: all that flashy, chaotic stuff was the Magician’s psychic energy—a serious mental pollutant for anyone invaded by it. Like ink dropped in clear water, once you’re contaminated by this stuff, good luck cleaning it out.
But the Magician never saw it coming—his psychic invasion didn’t do squat. If he’d tried this on Jill, she’d probably have panicked, since she’s never fought a psychic duel before. But against Jack? Tough luck, buddy.
Jack’s mental sea stayed perfectly calm, not reacting at all to the foreign psychic energy. That’s why the Magician thought it’d be easy. But that didn’t mean he could pollute Jack’s mind—Jack’s spirit was like ancient ice, crystal clear and totally unmoving. The Magician’s psychic energy smashed into Jack’s mind like an egg hitting a rock—broke apart and scattered everywhere.
Then, something happened in Jack’s spiritual domain that even Jill couldn’t explain—those foreign psychic energies seemed to freeze above Jack’s mental sea, unable to go back! Not only that, but like ships caught in a whirlpool, more and more of the Magician’s psychic energy got sucked out of him, freezing into weird-colored crystals.
The Magician had tons of psychic energy—otherwise, he couldn’t have trapped Jill in the Heart Maze. But his arrogance wrecked him. His mental sea got totally looted, frozen into an iceberg floating above Jack’s mind. When Jill linked up with Jack, the freezing had just finished. In a way, Jack had yanked the Magician’s soul out completely.
“Uh...” Staring at that iceberg, Jill scratched her head in her mind. “So, what are we supposed to do with this?” The iceberg kept flashing with chaotic images, and countless bald dudes’ faces flickered in and out—some terrified, some totally bonkers, none of it anything Jill liked. Just seeing it made her want to smash the thing to bits.
Buzz—Jill disconnected from the mind link, shook her head, and opened her eyes.
“Bro, you stuffed that thing into your brain—so what’s next?” Jill grumbled, bouncing on her toes. “You seriously gonna let him live rent-free in your head?” That iceberg was basically the Magician’s soul. If it didn’t get smashed, you couldn’t really say the Magician was dead or alive.
Jack just replied coolly, “You can help me.”
“Help you? How?”
Jack glanced off into the distance, then pointed at the Berserker. Jill clapped her hands, instantly getting it: the mental link device!
They quickly returned to the Berserker’s cockpit. The mecha couldn’t fight anymore, but the device still worked. They put on their helmets, exchanged a look, and nodded before powering up the system. With its help, Jill linked up with Jack’s mind again. This time, it wasn’t just sharing memories—they could actually see what was going on in the mental domain.
“Alright, let’s team up and get rid of this eyesore!”
As soon as Jill’s psychic energy entered Jack’s mental domain, it burst into roaring flames. In the mental world, there’s no up or down—blazing fire and icy cold didn’t clash at all, but the crystal mountain hanging between them was in trouble. Roasted by fire and frozen by cold in turns, the crystal mountain started to crack apart.
Chunks of colorful crystal broke off, turning into drifting mist. Strange images floated out of the smoke—fragments of the Magician’s memories, feelings, and will. Once the mist released these memories, it vanished. But after the haze cleared, tiny sparkling grains remained, like little diamonds—pure, transparent, and falling gently into Jack’s mental sea, boosting his psychic strength.
Jill could almost hear the bald guy’s screams—the pain was probably worse than being sliced to bits—but none of that stopped her from enjoying the show.
She skimmed through the bald guy’s life story and realized he’d tried to hypnotize them right from the start—just didn’t work. She also learned that the Euro-American Five were just a patchwork mercenary crew, hired for the job but not actually under anyone’s orders. Most importantly, she found out the hard drive with all the data was with that middle-aged dude, Paladin, who was the team’s temporary leader.
“So there were nine Travelers in Sydney, but three died in their first Kaiju fight. Oh, and the Endeavor’s pilot—turns out they got him killed too.”
As the refining went deeper, more hidden memories bubbled up. She saw how the Magician stumbled into Yuri’s revenge world, eventually becoming a test subject for Yuri’s crew. After all kinds of experiments, he got the title Yuri Alpha. Originally, Yuri could only control one person at a time, but since the Magician was a hypnosis master, his new powers matched his skills perfectly—he mutated and could control two people at once.
“If he could control a few more people, he really could build an army. No wonder he wanted to rule the world.”
As their psychic power grew, the refining sped up, and the images flying out got even more chaotic. Most of these memory fragments were useless—so much for learning hypnosis straight from his brain.
“Wait, hold up!” In the middle of all the chaos, Jill spotted a scene that caught her attention. It was a classroom, probably from when the Magician was studying psychology. And among the students was someone Jill recognized—her senior brother, Zhuo Yihang!
“Those two were classmates? Their teacher must’ve been amazing—producing at least two hypnosis masters!” Jill looked at the lecturer up front, but the figure was just a blur. No way to tell age, gender, or anything—just a vague outline. The weirdness made Jill wonder, “Maybe someone messed with the Magician’s mind too?”
Just then, the last chunk at the iceberg’s core exploded. A shrill wail spread like wind—the Magician’s soul’s final scream—then vanished for good. When the iceberg was gone, only a star-like, dazzling crystal remained. It glowed, flawless and pure—a single psychic crystal. Quality-wise, it was way better than those tiny grains from before.
“What’s this...?” Before Jill could figure it out, the star fell into the icy lake. In a blink, it merged with the lake completely.
When Jill took off her helmet, she felt her psychic power had jumped up again—almost ready to level up. Insight Technique, Sixth Layer: Speed Reading, was calling her name!
“Dragon Elephant has its Extraction Method, but I didn’t expect Insight Technique to have something similar too!” Jill wondered if today’s trick could be done on purpose, and maybe repeated. If so, she’d have no problem mastering these secret arts! When she got back, she’d ask Senior Brother if any of his classmates were shady types—she could play vigilante and refine a bunch more, and be invincible in no time! Nyahaha!
“Let’s go check out the other side of the mountain.” From the Magician’s memories, Jill figured Paladin and Pound should be over there. “No idea if Xiao Jingzhe ran into them yet. If he did, things could get interesting, ’cause Paladin’s ability...”
Jill’s smile turned wicked.
