Long Live Understanding
"Alright then, I'll go to the scene with you." Queen Lily immediately changed into casual clothes and went with Lola to the stall.
Just as Lola had described, the stall was completely surrounded by people. However, while there was plenty of praise, no one was actually buying. Everyone was just curious, but not a single sale was made.
Days had passed, and not a single bag had been sold.
"Look! Chancellor Evans and Dean Lola are here!"
Queen Lily and Lola had just arrived at the stall when the sharp-eyed townsfolk spotted them.
The crowd immediately perked up, everyone squeezing closer for a glimpse of these distinguished guests.
In the past, folks like them would never have the chance to see such important people. Forget about the Queen—even the lady officials were out of reach for regular townsfolk.
But now, look at the Queen of Qin, Chancellor Evans, and Dean Lola—actually strolling the streets like ordinary people! Well, their clothes were a bit fancier, but still, they were so down-to-earth.
Queen Lily stood at the front of the stall, smiling kindly at the crowd gathered around her. "Is everyone here because you're curious about our pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers?" she asked warmly.
Hearing Queen Lily speak so kindly, the townsfolk felt both honored and excited, all scrambling to respond.
"That's right, we've never seen these things before."
"Never even heard of them! What are agrochemicals, anyway?"
"Yeah, why are you selling seeds? We always save our own seeds every year. How are these seeds any different from ours?"
The townsfolk started chattering away, everyone voicing their opinions.
Queen Lily listened patiently to everyone's questions, then answered them all at once, explaining the uses of these things.
To be honest, the crowd had already heard these explanations from the stall vendors countless times before.
But now, hearing it from Queen Lily of Qin herself—a person of such high status, personally coming to the streets to explain how to use these products—was a whole different story.
Everyone listened with rapt attention, afraid to miss a single word.
Queen Lily spoke until her throat was dry. Lola handed her a cup of water, which she gratefully drank before smiling and saying, "I know everyone is hesitant to buy or use these things because you have concerns."
"That's right... We've never used them before, so we're scared to try. If the crops don't grow, our families will go hungry next year." one honest man replied.
Queen Lily laughed, "This uncle makes a good point, and I understand your worries. These are all new things—never seen, never heard of, and no one has tried them yet. It's perfectly normal to have doubts. The land is a farmer's lifeline, and everyone's family depends on what you grow. That's why you can't afford to be careless with your crops!"
Queen Lily's words struck a chord with the crowd.
In the past, officials never understood the common folk and didn't care about their lives. But Queen Lily was different—she really seemed to understand their struggles and concerns.
With such a down-to-earth Queen, the crowd's fondness for her grew even more.
Queen Lily smiled and added, "Actually, my family has always been farmers too. I know exactly what it's like to worry about the harvest, to be anxious about the weather, and to work hard just to put food on the table."
Hearing this, the townsfolk were shocked at first, then their faces lit up with delight. The Queen was one of their own! No wonder she understood them so well.
