Marriage Contract, Son’s Betrayal

2/14/2026

Serena Hua was suddenly pulled into Chu Linfeng’s arms. As she was embraced by those broad shoulders, she felt an endless warmth and happiness... This feeling made Princess Wuyou both hate and like it: she clearly relied on it, but why did this embrace have to belong to that infuriating guy!

Get off me!

Serena Hua shoved Chu Linfeng away and glared at him, "What are you doing? Just going to stand there and watch your son get killed?"

Even though she was furious, the bashful look on her face couldn’t fool Chu Linfeng. He’d seen plenty of women before, and that expression—my god, could she actually be falling for me? No way! She’s supposed to hate me to death!

Chu Linfeng didn’t have time to argue with her. He’d listened to what Chase said and let those rebels go, but he still didn’t believe Chase could fight eight powerhouses alone. He was ready to step in at any moment, just in case.

But what Chase did next completely shocked him. That instant-kill power was almost on par with his own! And looking at Chase’s cultivation, he was already at mid-stage Nether Emperor, nearly at the peak of that realm!

That kind of strength meant Chase could take down Wotan directly, maybe even kill him! And if Chu Linfeng fought Chase himself, he could easily win—but actually killing him would take a lot more effort...

This terrifying growth was way beyond what Chu Linfeng himself had back in the day. Sure, Chu Linfeng had built a solid foundation for him, but Chase’s own hard work couldn’t be ignored either.

Chu Linfeng already knew that the one who’d fought three rebel Nether Emperors by himself, ended up gravely wounded but still managed to kill all three early-stage rebels, was Chase. Back then, Chase’s cultivation was about the same as theirs, so that battle must have been absolutely brutal.

Otherwise, the rebels wouldn’t have believed that Chase died in that fight.

"Is it over? Father’s power... he’s inherited all of it... I guess only your bloodline could pull that off."

Serena Hua watched Chase erupt with terrifying strength, her voice unsure whether to be happy or worried.

Hadeon Hua’s complete death was heartbreaking, but the rise of the new Nether Emperor atop the Nether Imperial City meant the Netherworld’s calamity was finally over. That was something to celebrate too. So for a while, Serena Hua’s feelings were a total mess.

"Father!" Chase shifted back to human form and rushed to Chu Linfeng’s side, looking at him with delight.

"Thank you for saving me, Father! If you hadn’t stepped in at the last second, I would’ve been in real danger."

"You silly kid, what are you talking about? I’m your real dad! Of course I’d help. But honestly, you did all the work yourself—I just gave a little push at the end. You did great this time. I’m proud of you!"

Chu Linfeng burst out laughing, full of joy.

"Alright, kid, spill it—what exactly happened after you ascended to the Netherworld? When did all this fighting with the rebels start?"

Chase then explained everything to Chu Linfeng, leaving nothing out.

Right after his ascension, Chase arrived in the Netherworld. At first, his cultivation was only at Nether Lord, but thanks to the solid foundation Chu Linfeng laid for him, his breakthroughs were lightning-fast. Soon, he became a Nether Venerable, and eventually, Princess Wuyou noticed him and invited him into the core of the Nether Imperial City, letting him join the plan to resurrect Hadeon Hua.

But three months ago, at the final moment of Hadeon Hua’s resurrection, the rebel army suddenly attacked and took the Nether Imperial City, ruining everything at the last second! Princess Wuyou was gravely wounded, and Chase, with his late-stage Nether Venerable cultivation, fought desperately against powerful enemies and broke through his realm in the heat of battle.

With his True Dragon Body empowered by Nether qi, Chase battled through several bloody nights and nearly perished together with three rebel Nether Emperors.

After that battle, the rebels decided Hadeon Hua’s resurrection was hopeless, so they retreated for now, waiting for a chance to return and conquer the Netherworld for good.

But even though Hadeon Hua couldn’t be revived, his power still existed. He chose Chase as its vessel, helping him leap straight to mid-stage Nether Emperor, and ordered Serena Hua to let Chase ascend to the top of the Netherworld and become the new master of the Nether Imperial City.

The events themselves weren’t all that complicated, but Chu Linfeng was still shocked and deeply saddened after hearing it all.

"It’s a real shame Hadeon Hua couldn’t be revived!"

"Yeah! Grandfather’s death really is heartbreaking. But that’s why he left his indomitable will inside me, so I’d inherit his power with a heart full of vengeance.

Father, you know about the Dragon Clan’s bloodline talent called dragonflame, right? I was never that good at controlling it, but after my dragonflame was tempered by Nether qi and mutated into Netherflame, I actually got much better at it.

That move I just used was powered by Netherflame. Pretty awesome, right? I owe it all to Grandfather’s power!"

Hearing this, Chu Linfeng’s eyes went wide as he stared at Chase, nearly forgetting to breathe.

"Wait a sec! Chase, what did you just say? Grandfather?"

"Yeah! Grandfather—Hadeon Hua!"

"Holy crap..." Chu Linfeng couldn’t help blurting out a curse.

He had the dragonflame talent too, and the Primordial Dragon’s dragonflame was even stronger. But he’d always focused on mastering fire-element power, and now that he had fire-element law, he barely used the dragonflame talent anymore.

But what did Chase mean by 'Grandfather'?

Seeing how confused Chu Linfeng was, Chase asked in surprise, "What? Father, you didn’t know? How’s that possible? Grandfather said ages ago that he’d already promised Aunt Wuyou to you, and the engagement was set. No backing out. That was ages ago!

Since you and Aunt Wuyou are husband and wife, and I’m your son—even if I’m not direct blood, we’re both Netherfolk—so of course Hadeon Hua counts as my grandfather! He even told me to call him that before he died.

Otherwise, why would Grandfather pick me as his successor? Seriously, Dad, not to roast you or anything, but you mess around with so many women, you can’t even keep this stuff straight!

"Get lost!"

Chu Linfeng’s mouth twitched hard. How could he not know about any of this?! Meanwhile, Princess Wuyou seemed to understand perfectly, her face flushed and furious as she glared at Chase.

"Go do your job! Stop running your mouth! This is grown-up business—what do you know, kid?! Nobody’s forcing you to be quiet, but anyway, Father picked you because only your Dragon Clan bloodline could handle the power inheritance!

Anyway, get yourself back to the Nether Capital—the whole army’s waiting for orders from their new master!"

"Uh... okay, okay, I get it. Aunt Wuyou, you and Father can talk it out. Seriously, keep it civil—don’t start a fight!"

Seeing Princess Wuyou about to blow her top, Chase spun around and ran off without looking back.

But Chu Linfeng just stood there, totally at a loss: Chase! You little brat, are you trying to get your old man killed?!
