Joining Forces to Seize the Lu Clan and Divide Tyre City

When the Third Prince retreated from Lu Garden, he was protected by over a hundred death-soldiers, but even the fiercest death-soldiers couldn't stand against tens of thousands of troops. After a brutal fight, Serena Feng and Vincent Su successfully subdued the Third Prince.

"Third Prince, forgive me." To make sure he couldn't escape, Serena Feng unceremoniously injected him with a sedative.

The needle pierced his arm. The Third Prince stiffened, then quickly regained his composure. Watching the clear liquid enter his body, his gaze sharpened with menace: "Serena Feng, I truly regret not killing you when I had the chance."

"Regret what, Your Highness? You've tried to kill me more than once, but I survived every time." Serena withdrew the syringe, smiling at the battered and disheveled Third Prince.

Her father's killer was finally in custody.

"Your Highness, get some sleep. You're getting on in years—it's time to enjoy some peace and let us younger folks handle the rest." Serena showed no courtesy to the Third Prince.

Honestly, no one would show mercy to their father's murderer. If Prince Nolan hadn't forbidden it, she would have dragged the Third Prince's corpse back herself.

"You want to kill me? Why?" The Third Prince didn't struggle; seeing the murderous intent in Serena's eyes, he asked in confusion.

He had tried to kill Serena Feng several times, but surely that wasn't enough for her to want him dead. After all, everything he did was aimed at Prince Nolan—it had nothing to do with Serena.

Of course it was for her father's sake. But the Third Prince, forgetful as ever, surely didn't remember the accidental killing of Feng Zhan. Serena, however, never forgot. Still, she didn't tell him the truth and simply said, "Because you're Prince Nolan's enemy, that makes you my enemy too."

"Ninth Brother? Why do you always side with him? I don't think I'm any worse than Nolan. Whatever Nolan can give you, I can offer double. If you want this empire, I can even help you become the Nine Provinces Realm's first empress." The Third Prince stared at Serena Feng, trying to read her true answer in her eyes.

He never understood why Serena Feng willingly worked for Prince Nolan. If it was about power, he could use power to persuade her as well.

"Empress?" Serena mocked, "I've never wanted that position. Besides, Third Prince, you don't have that kind of power. You know your own body—at best, you have six months left to live."

As a doctor, Serena was confident in her diagnosis.

When exposed, the Third Prince wasn't embarrassed at all—just regretful. "Your medical skills are indeed impressive. It's a pity I didn't manage to hire you back then."

He knew his own body well. If he hadn't been so desperate during his last illness, he wouldn't have risked abducting Serena Feng. Not only did he fail, but he exposed his forces in the Capital, triggering a chain of trouble that forced him to abandon his base and retreat to Shandong.

Back in Shandong, he ran into Prince Nolan again. Several attempts to kill Nolan failed, and under the guise of cooperation he tried to escape, only to end up right back in Nolan's grasp. The Third Prince felt that ever since meeting Serena Feng, nothing had gone his way.

Serena checked the Third Prince's pulse, then shook her head after a moment. "Even if you found me, it wouldn't help. No doctor can cure someone destined to die. Right now, you're surviving solely on medication. Death is only a matter of time—I can only extend your life by a few days at best."

After the diagnosis, Serena realized she'd given the Third Prince too little sedative, which was why he was still chattering away.

Serena picked up the syringe again and drew another dose of sedative.

"Serena Feng, what are you doing?" The Third Prince watched her warily; after her last injection, he already felt much weaker.

"I told you, I just want you to be quiet." Serena motioned for the guards to hold the Third Prince down, rolled up his sleeve, and gave him another shot.

"I know ordinary sedatives won't work on you, so... I used something special. I hope you'll appreciate it, Third Prince."

"Ser...ena... Feng!"

As Serena withdrew the syringe, the Third Prince's eyes grew unfocused, his mind clouded, and he gradually calmed down. His head lolled to the side as if he'd fallen asleep.

Meanwhile, all the Third Prince's death-soldiers were captured. The deputy reported, "Miss Feng, the enemies are subdued."

"Clean up and withdraw."

"Yes, ma'am."

The main army still camped outside the city. Serena Feng brought only a hundred men into town, where the Black Riders immediately rendezvoused with them. After several rounds of identity checks, Serena and Vincent Su handed the Third Prince over to the Black Riders. As for what the Black Riders would do with him, Serena had no idea. All she knew was that the Third Prince would never appear in public again—because Prince Nolan would never allow it!

The Third Prince handed his fifty thousand private soldiers over to Prince Nolan, but as long as he lived, those fifty thousand could rebel or betray Nolan at any time. To guarantee control over both the private army and Shandong, Prince Nolan would never allow the Third Prince to reappear, and given his health, death was only a matter of time.

The Third Prince was more useful alive than dead. So—even though Serena Feng desperately wanted his life, she didn't act. The Third Prince still had many hidden agents; Prince Nolan would never let them go. As long as the Third Prince remained in Nolan's hands, Nolan would pry his secrets out before he died.

With the Third Prince captured, the Lu Clan lost its true master and became mere meat for the slaughter.

Serena Feng paused, then looked up at the slowly rising sun and allowed herself a faint smile.

Her great vendetta—half fulfilled.

Vincent Su glanced at Serena, yawned, and said, "After a busy day, I can finally sleep." He'd spent the whole night trailing after Serena as her assistant, so bored he could cry.

Serena handled everything perfectly; he was just extra baggage. If he'd known, he wouldn't have come.

"Sleep? Only you could sleep now—there's a major battle tomorrow." Serena pressed her injured shoulder, where the blade wound hadn't healed. Wearing armor tonight had reopened it, and she could feel warm blood trickling down.

She hadn't needed to be involved tonight, but...

She wanted to capture the Third Prince herself, even if she was wounded.

"You're going to fight tomorrow too?" Vincent Su gaped at Serena. "Are you even a woman? Why do you love charging into battle so much? Aren't you afraid Prince Nolan will worry himself sick?"

Serena just smiled and said nothing. She wanted to join tomorrow's battle, but... her body wouldn't allow it. As for fighting on the battlefield? She was used to it by now.

"Alright, it's late. I'm heading back to my room." Serena knew Vincent Su still had to report to Prince Nolan, so she parted ways with him at the crossroads.

She needed to treat her wound while Prince Nolan was busy. If he saw her injury had reopened, she'd be in big trouble!
