Cassie Quinn’s Sudden Collapse
They often play together—Lily Bai, Sean Shaw, Luna Lian, Adrian Drake—there’s always an adult nearby.
Today, Adrian Drake watched the kids and took a few little dragon children into the sea to play.
Only the little phoenix, Cassie Quinn, didn’t like the water. She stayed with Lily Bai in the palace hall, hopping and flying all over the place—teasing Lily one moment, perching on Sean’s shoulder the next, never sitting still for a second.
“Who do you think Cassie takes after?” Lily Bai laughed. “She’s so lively and energetic.”
Sean said, “Divine Lord Tanya Quinn.”
“I think she’s more like Lord Noctis,” Lily said. “She’s fearless.”
“Daughters take after their mothers, sons after their fathers. Just like our two little ones—our son looks like me, our daughter looks like you,” Sean said.
“Every family’s different, you know?” Lily said. “When our two finally take human form, I wonder what they’ll look like. I hope they’re both as good-looking as you!”
Lily leaned in, reached out, and tapped his chin with her finger.
Sean looked up at her. “It’s one thing to seduce me at night, but you’re doing it in broad daylight now?”
Lily quickly covered his mouth. “What are you saying! We’re talking about the kids here!”
Sean just kissed her hand. “Was that move really about the kids?”
“Of course! I was talking about how our kids might look in the future!” Lily said. “If both of them look like you, wow! They’ll be unbelievably gorgeous!”
Sean said, “If they look like you, they’ll be gorgeous too!”
Then the two of them just looked at each other and laughed.
Ezra Cloud and Chacha, who were serving in the hall, exchanged a glance and rolled their eyes.
It’s like this every day—they’ve had enough.
Just then, suddenly, the little phoenix dropped to the floor with a heavy thud.
Everyone stared at her in confusion.
She didn’t get up for a long while.
Lily rushed over and scooped her up.
Cassie’s eyes were closed—she was completely unconscious.
But her pulse was perfectly normal.
“What’s wrong with her?” Sean asked nervously.
Lily shook her head. “Her pulse is fine! It’s like she’s just asleep.”
“Let’s ask Divine Lord Tanya Quinn!” Sean said. “Maybe this has happened before.”
Lily nodded.
Sean called Divine Lord Tanya Quinn, explained the situation, and asked if this had ever happened before.
But Divine Lord Tanya Quinn said it hadn’t.
She said they’d come over from the Ancient God Realm right away.
Lily couldn’t find anything wrong with Cassie, so all she could do was keep calling her name, hoping to wake her up.
After about half an hour, Cassie really did wake up.
She woke up before Divine Lord Tanya Quinn and her husband arrived, slowly opened her eyes, and stared at Lily with her big, dark eyes.
“Cassie!” Lily called. “How do you feel? What happened just now?”
Cassie shook her head. No one could tell if she meant she didn’t know or that she was fine.
Since she hadn’t taken human form yet, she couldn’t speak the human language—she could only communicate with her own kind.
Luckily, Divine Lord Tanya Quinn and her husband arrived soon after.
She hugged the little phoenix and asked her questions for a long time, but Cassie said she was fine and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.
Lord Noctis was still worried about his daughter, so he sent Lily a message: “Are you sure she’s really fine? Why did she suddenly faint—and for so long?”
Lily said, “Her body’s perfectly healthy! I really couldn’t find anything wrong.”
