The Corpse-Refining Elder

At this moment, Evan Yang was surrounded by the black qi, unable to see anything outside—but he could still hear the conversation beyond.

"Heavenly Fiendbane Art? What kind of technique is this?" Evan Yang muttered suspiciously as he watched the black qi clinging to him, refusing to let go.

He kept trying to shake off the black qi, dodging and darting about, but no matter what Evan did, it stuck firmly to him.

After repeating this several times with no effect, Evan finally stopped and decided to study the black qi. He saw that much of it was seeping into his body.

However, the black qi wasn't any kind of poison—since the Heaven‑Cold Seed's power didn't clear it away, Evan's body was now filled with even more black qi.

"What even is this stuff?" Evan wondered, now that it wasn't poison.

He kept a close watch on where the black qi was heading inside his body. He soon saw it rushing straight up toward the top of his head, then gathering at the Soul‑Gathering Area, surrounding his soul and Primordial Spirit.

"No way..." Evan muttered, seeing the black qi targeting his Soul‑Gathering Area.

Just then, the black qi began to move all at once, launching a frenzied assault on Evan's soul and Primordial Spirit.

Evan was terrified—if his soul and Primordial Spirit were attacked like this, he'd be doomed.

Just then, a flash of light flickered around his soul and Primordial Spirit, blocking the black qi and keeping it out.

“What’s going on?” Noticing the change in his Soul-Gathering Area, Evan muttered in confusion. He focused his senses, and suddenly, as if new information popped into his mind, he realized it was the Demon-Ward Eight Arts hidden in his body automatically activating.

“Is this some kind of demonic art?” Evan exclaimed, delighted by the discovery. He was spared from turning into an idiot—he knew that any mishap with the soul or Primordial Spirit meant either serious injury or going completely berserk.

Outside, Young Master Swain and the Nether Patriarch both broke into smiles when they saw Evan motionless.

“We finally caught this brat,” Young Master Swain said with a smug grin.

“When we see him, he’ll be out of his mind. Asking about that kid’s whereabouts is going to be tough,” sighed the Nether Patriarch.

“Don’t forget, that woman’s still around. She’s nowhere near as tough. Just have Captain Li check her token again and we’ll know exactly where she is,” Young Master Swain laughed, completely unconcerned.

The Nether Patriarch thought it over and realized he was right, so his smile grew even brighter.

Meanwhile, trapped inside the black qi, Evan overheard their conversation and finally understood how they found him so quickly—it was all because of that token.

“Once I get out, I’ll deal with that token,” Evan muttered to himself, now clear on the cause.

As for the black qi inside his mind, it kept attacking wildly, but the cold light absorbed it all—even scattered it.

So, all the black qi that poured into Evan’s body just vanished into thin air.

After about a quarter hour, Evan’s whole body finally emerged.

Seeing the black qi fade away, the Nether Patriarch smiled. “Alright, he’s definitely out of it now.”

“Yeah, tie him up so he doesn’t go berserk and start killing people,” Young Master Swain said with delight.

The group quickly pulled out special treasures, ready to lock Evan down.

But when they got close, Evan opened his eyes and smiled, “Hey there.” Boom—everyone near him was sent flying, left floating in midair and bleeding profusely.

Young Master Swain and the Nether Patriarch were stunned—they never expected Evan to be perfectly fine.

“How are you unharmed?!” the Nether Patriarch cried out in shock.

Evan grinned, “Were you hoping I’d be hurt?”
