Emergency Case, A Doctor’s Professionalism

"No need to count. What you want is in the iron box under the pillow." The Nine-Provinces Dragon-Vein Map is only useful when all nine fragments are assembled; trading one piece for his life is worth it!

He would eventually snatch it back from Lance Quinn.

"Keep an eye on him." Lance Quinn shot a look at Storm Cloud Bu, meaning: once we have the item, kill Prince Terrence Valen.

Leaving anyone alive—Lance Quinn never makes that kind of foolish mistake.

Prince Terrence Valen understood too—these two would never let him go, just as he wouldn’t let Lance Quinn off if he survived tonight.

As Lance Quinn turned to grab the item, Prince Terrence Valen suddenly fell backward and rolled across the floor.

"Snap—" He triggered a hidden mechanism; the bed abruptly collapsed downward. Lance Quinn barely managed to grab the iron box, his feet dangling in midair as he started to fall.

"Lance!" Storm Cloud Bu ignored Prince Terrence Valen and quickly reached out to pull Lance Quinn up.

"Go." Lance Quinn gripped the iron box, a flash of anger crossing his face.

This time, he’d been careless—he hadn’t expected the Lyndarians to set so many traps here.

"Trying to leave? Leave your life behind." Prince Terrence Valen crawled to a corner and pressed a raised spot—thick iron rods, as thick as an arm, crashed down from the ceiling.

"Lance, watch out!" Storm Cloud Bu quickly shoved Lance Quinn aside, taking the blow from the iron rod himself.

He spat out a mouthful of blood, collapsing onto Lance Quinn’s back.

"Idiot." Lance Quinn cursed under his breath, hoisted Storm Cloud Bu onto his back, and leaped out the window.

"You can’t get hurt," Storm Cloud Bu said weakly.

Just then, the guards from Jingyue Court’s outer compound burst in.

"Your Highness the Crown Prince!"

"Pursue them—kill on sight!" This time, Prince Terrence Valen was truly furious; Lance Quinn and Storm Cloud Bu had nearly destroyed him.

"Yes, sir!"

"Your Highness, your injuries—?"

"Summon the imperial physicians—report to the Eastlyn Emperor at once. Tell him I was attacked by assassins and demand an explanation from Eastlyn!" Hair disheveled and face hidden in shadow, Prince Terrence Valen’s handsome features twisted with venom.

Jingyue Court erupted into chaos, and the Emperor soon heard the news. He immediately ordered the city sealed and a search for the assassins, dispatching Sun Zhengdao and others to Jingyue Court to treat Prince Terrence Valen, with a death order to cure him at all costs.

Princess Yara Valen heard the news and left the palace as well; the Emperor thought it over and approved.

Even at night, soldiers were searching the city. Dominic Zhai was dragged out of bed, face dark with irritation, to supervise the search.

Likewise, Serena Feng—who had been sound asleep—was hauled out by Lance Quinn to treat Storm Cloud Bu’s injuries.

He’d hoped Serena Feng could rest well, but ended up interrupting her dreams himself. Not that Lance Quinn felt the least bit guilty—he dumped Storm Cloud Bu in the operating room and dragged Serena over too.

"Who’s hurt this time?" Serena Feng threw on a coat and followed Lance Quinn out, looking thoroughly disgruntled.

She was really exhausted today—couldn’t these people just leave her alone for once?

"The one you saved last time," Lance Quinn replied, making no attempt to hide anything.

Serena Feng muttered under her breath. She was practically an underground doctor now, saving random people day in and day out—sooner or later, she was going to get herself into trouble.
